Gold (2022)
Good Aussie story telling
Gold had my 100% full attention from beginning to end and wow what a story. I enjoyed the film a lot, in fact, I rate it. The landscape was beautifully shot and so important. He slowly melted into it, I thought that visually looked awesome. All the acting was great. The story was good as is. It didn't have to waste time spoon-feeding you. You caught glimpses of their world listening to the radio, reading the road signs, the people, their conversations, clothing, and their gear.
I'm really glad the ending happened the way it did. Zac's character was lulled into feeling secure and part of the team. Made it even more heartbreaking to watch as it slowly become apparent to the audience but not him.
I give the film a 7/10. While I agree everyone is entitled to their opinion, and we can't like every movie, I really think some of the criticisms being mentioned (not all, some of them are fair) are undeserving and indicative of someone who wasn't taking in all the story-telling happening when there was no dialogue.
Rushed (2021)
A compelling tale..
I wouldn't change a scene. The acting was top notch as was the story telling. Siobhan Fallon Hogan was exceptional as the mother coming to terms with the horrors her boy faced before dying, she carried Rushed.
As the film played out more and more I felt like I was in the passenger seat beside her. The supporting cast were just as amazing. I absolutely loved the ending, it was refreshing to not see Rushed go down the same old tired route. But left us with all the answers.
The writing was just as good as the acting and cinematography. Female characters are often written by men and it shows. To my surprise after finishing the movie I found out it was written by a woman, and it made sense why the lead character felt like a REAL woman, not a caricature or someone's fantasy version of one.
I can't wait to see what Siobhan Fallon Hogan has in store for us next.
Faith Under Fire (2020)
Film flopped as hard as their 'message'
Terrible film, with even worse acting. If this was a tv pilot, it would have concreted their cancellation. Clearly someone tried, but you need more than that for a decent film.
Don't Let Them In (2020)
Enjoyable low budget flick.
Great little indy flick. A few laughs, lots of twists and turns, decent amount of blood lol definitely worth a watch for horror lovers.
Wounds (2019)
A story with a beginning and a middle.
Watching this movie, is like having and pulling out 1 minute before climax.
The film was still building to a climax in the final minute, it ended in the process of building. It never reached it's peak.
Ôdishon (1999)
Don't get the hype.
Really not as great as people say. Was disappointed. it's a love story drama for 2 hours and the final 30 minutes are a complete anti-climax.
True Fiction (2019)
a burning pile of trash...would at least get 2 stars.
Lead actress was horrid, was like watching somebody trying to act.
Lead actor wasn't too bad, he gets my 1 star.
Story itself was nonsensical rubbish. It couldn't decide what it wanted to be.
If you are a horror fan, DO NOT waste your time. If you are a new to horror view, DO NOT waste your time.
