Great reboot of the franchise.
20 June 2023
At the start of this I'm not going to lie I had slight doubts, it changes some things that we've come to know in the series, mostly for contemporary reasons, and I'm about tired of the whole-body contortion CGI junk a lot of these modern horror movies think they need to have. But, despite that it won me over when it got to the third act and just goes insane with its violence, as these usually do. It's overall great fun and damn if that performance from Alyssa Sutherland isn't award worthy.

And apparently my review isn't long enough for IMDB so here are some extra words to stretch it out a bit longer.

Sin Sisters (2003 Video)
4/10
Seduction Cinema flick that works better than most for a lesbian softcore romp.
23 September 2022
Not a lot of sin, but we do get sisters in this better than usual Seduction Cinema lesbian softcore flick starring Misty Mundae and her far less attractive real life sister Chelsea. But if you're thinking you're going to get some incestuous sister sex then you're going to be disappointed instead it's mostly just the usual masturbating and nipple rubbing that most of these contain. It does try to get all weird and go psychological thriller in the second half when the duo run into Julian Wells and some goofy sex games ensue which doesn't really work and kind of slows things down to a slog, but still a little different compared to most of these.

Classic Henry Hathaway western with an all-star cast.
14 September 2022
I was always aware that Steve McQueen starred in several westerns, but in reality, he only really appeared in three despite getting his start in one on TV. This Henry Hathaway feature was his second and features him as a half breed Indian on the trail of revenge for the three men who murdered his mother and father, there played by Martin Landau, Arthur Kennedy, and a glorious over-the-top performance from Karl Malden. The beautiful scenery and episodic plot help the long over two-hour runtime, and there's a variety of familiar faces in the cast. Only thing I'm not buying is 36-year-old McQueen as a 16-year-old half breed teenager.

Pretty good Lifetime original thriller.
14 September 2022
This one is actually pretty good. A woman is involved in a car wreck and must go through an alcohol rehab, only thing is she doesn't remember causing the accident that ended up paralyzing a star ballerina. She takes a caretaker job undercover for the woman intending on discovering how the accident and events really happened. The acting makes this, it's nothing I'd watch again, but the twists and turns towards the end make for an effective little thriller.

And I guess my review still isn't long enough for IMDB so here is some more nonsense to read. And I guess my review still isn't long enough for IMDB so here is some more nonsense to read.

Decent but hammy Lifetime original thriller.
13 September 2022
Lifetime original thriller that plays out like Poison Ivy but with a teacher. It's passable I'm sure there's about a million of these Lifetime movies with this plot, but for what it is it does a decent job building suspense. There's some weird dubbing in some scenes and the lead female villain is a bit hammy. The final doesn't really live up nor work either though as is just sort of exposes the films short budget and just ends.

The dukes second and final cop thriller is a better offering then McQ.
13 September 2022
John Wayne returns for this his second and final time as a cop. It's a good little fish out of water tale where the duke is an old rough around the edges Chicago cop sent to England to nab crime boss John Vernon, but problems arise when he's abducted by a hit man, and he must go on the chase. There's a good bit of decent action and it comes off better then McQ, even though watching near 68-year-old Wayne flirt with 27-year-old Judy Geeson is kind of weird.

Decent John Wayne cop thriller nothing special.
13 September 2022
John Wayne plays a police detective for the first time in his career in this Bullitt rip off that was originally made for Steve McQueen. The problem is Wayne is 67 years old here and he was also suffering through pneumonia and a divorce during filming so there's a lot of scenes where he feels like he's just going through the motions. The script isn't that impressive either, other than the unique Seattle locations, some car chases and a fun final on a beach with a Mac-10 there's really nothing memorable here for anyone to hunt this down.

And I guess my review still isn't long enough for IMDB so here is some more nonsense to read.

Hondo (1953)
7/10
A classic Wayne western even if a bit cliché.
5 September 2022
I recently saw a review that described "Hondo" as take John Wayne, add Western clichés and a string of implausible coincidences and you have "Hondo". Thats pretty much the truth, but despite all that the performances from Wayne, Geraldine Page, and Michael Pate make this a very good watch. The western action is decent, but the grand final is the best thing here filmed by no other than John Ford when original director John Farrow was forced to leave for another movie when the shoot when past the finish date. The original version was also in 3D which explains why there's things constantly coming at the camera.

My favorite Wyatt Earp adaptation. A classic.
5 September 2022
Without a doubt my favorite Wyatt Earp adaptation, not because it's the most accurate, but because of the commanding performances of both Burt Lancaster (one of my favorite actors) and Kirk Douglas. The supporting cast isn't too shabby either Jo Van Fleet, John Ireland, Earl Holliman, DeForest Kelley, Jack Elam, Lee Van Cleef, and young Dennis Hopper. There's some good underlining messages and the final showdown is well staged. If I only had one complaint it's the cheesy theme song that plays periodically during the film, cut that and you have a fun classic.

And I guess my review still isn't long enough for IMDB so here is some more nonsense to read.

A good veteran cast, but an overall bland experience.
5 September 2022
A little known 70s psychological thriller that's mostly memorable for its veteran cast and crew over it being really any good. Written by Grayden Clark and oddly directed by actor Ray Danton, it features a lot of the formers signature camp, but once the story starts getting going it's just really blah and the kills are as well. Other than a nice death scene with Neville Brand, a pretty effective ending, and the fact this managed to get a PG rating despite boobs and blood its nothing special.

Why do these keep getting worse?
4 September 2022
I was really looking forward to this one as the setting is good and it looks great. It's a shame nothing happens in it. The creatures are barely seen and when they are you then know why as it looks like Universal really cut the CGI budget. As for the cast both Richard Brake and Jon Heder are both wasted the later as yet another comic relief sidekick character and as for that ending it's probably well due even though it's a shame it has to be in a movie of this standard, but since these seem to keep getting worse, I'm ok with it. Now make one more of these and bring back Kevin Bacon and send this series off into the sunset.

One of the 1980s top action flicks and maybe the pinnacle for Cannon.
1 September 2022
I had shockingly never watched all of this in one sitting. It might be low on logic, but there's a crap tune of action in this Cannon flick which at the time was one of their most ambitious when it came to the budget. It's defiantly what you would show a friend who had never seen a Cannon film and you want to make their first-time count. A top 5 Chuck flick for sure. Also, bad guy Richard Lynch gets it good in the end, a death worthy of Death Wish 3 & 4 fame.

Might in fact be Chuck Norris best movie.
31 August 2022
Probably without a doubt the finest moment of Chuck's Martial Arts Action Thrillers as it's his highest rated movie as a leading actor on both here and letterboxd. There's a good number of memorable moments and enough camp to make it all fun and an impressive spaghetti western style soundtrack to give it a contemporary western vibe. It would also start an impressive stretch of flicks over the next three years starting with 1984's Missing in Action and ending with 1986's The Delta Force. If I only had one complaint it's that the climax between, he and David Carradine isn't the greatest which may have been more so from ego if the lore holds up right.

Poor sequel. Adds absolutely nothing from the previous installment.
31 August 2022
Nothing close to the crap show I was led to or expected this to be. It does add absolutely nothing from the previous entry and the snow setting ends up being a total joke that and the fact the camera work is horrible and it's a movie taking place in Canada filmed in South Africa. At this point these are just made by the over-the-top performance from Michael Gross over anything else.

OK sequel. Still wouldn't take it over the last two though.
31 August 2022
Decent fun nothing special. The CGI isn't bad and Jaime Kennedy as the routine comic sidekick surprisingly isn't either. The last two sci fi channel movies weren't the greatest, but they were still fun for what the where. I would take this over them, and even though the Africa setting is decent it still doesn't add anything new.

Even worse than the first one.
26 August 2022
Even more tedious then the first one, this time with a needless Donald Farmer side story thrown in as well. There's a bit where Wynkoop shines in a video store scene, but that's pretty much it. Even worse it just ends out of nowhere with no conclusion at all.

Starts out fun, but the premise gets tiresome.
26 August 2022
One would figure watching Joel Wynkoop acting like a cop and being an ass to everyone he comes in contact with would be pretty entertaining, it is at first, but gets tedious and old really fast.

A typical Rick Sloane cheapo flick that's just flat out boring.
25 August 2022
Rick Sloane (Hobgoblins, Vice Academy) directs this boring ass cheapo horror thriller that's sadly low on sleaze and gore and high on people just standing around and walking in and out of rooms talking. Ginger Lynn is horrible; Wings Hauser is so restrained except for some scenes at the end. B movie veteran Jay Richardson and the boom mic also make several appearances neither are worth it. The boobs aren't even worth recommending, don't waste your time.

25 August 2022
The long-awaited reunion of Jason Statham and Guy Richie turns out to be a damn fun heist flick remake of the 2004 film Cash Truck. It's also Statham's best film in six or seven years.

Fun cheap early Asylum creature feature.
22 August 2022
Another early Asylum cheapo creature feature, it's pretty much like there other effort The Beast of Bray Road just take the werewolf and replace it with a demon and insert a prison setting. It's full of people who don't react when they die and entrails that are exposed before the monster ever kills them. The creature costume does look decent and there is some insane gore on display. In other words, it's not good or well made, but it's enjoyable trash at only 81 minutes.

Very good as far as Liam Neeson action thrillers go.
22 August 2022
As far as modern Liam Neeson action thrillers go this one is defiantly up there with the better ones. He plays an aging assassin who is tasked with a target who winds up being a young girl, he later discovers that the family that hired him runs a child prostitution ring, and the girl was a part of it. As expected, he goes after them, but with the catch he's slowly suffering from Alzheimer's. The final act takes a few twists and turns one wouldn't expect and the additions of Guy Pearce and Monica Bellucci along with some solid gore defiantly help. The underlining theme of there's no justice for the rich is pretty good too.

Fun anthology centered around cats with an all-star cast.
22 August 2022
An Amicus style anthology where Peter Cushing tells Ray Milland three tales of how cats are actually murderers. The first is great, second is good, but the third is rather lousy other than the ending, and it's also the story that has Donald Pleasence, John Vernon, and Samantha Eggar in it hamming it up. It's still enjoyable though and the wraparound is pretty fun. Especially an ending bit where its hinted Milland may be under mind control by his cat.

Decent AMC+ action thriller could have been better.
22 August 2022
It's decent nothing special much like the rest of David Hackl's filmography. It has a pretty damn good cast and manages to waste most of them. Mel Gibson apparently just filmed his scenes at his house in 5 minutes. Scott Eastwood is capable, and I think he deserves better than this.

Very good fun campy 90s horror made by Larry Drake.
18 August 2022
A cable tv favorite of mine when I was a young kid this is campy as all hell and at times feels like an overlong episode of Tales from the Crypt which makes sense considering the director did helm an episode of that series. Larry Drake's over-the-top performance is what makes this really worth the watch, that some fun kills and some hilarious early 90s looking teens. Would make a good double feature or triple feature with Brian Yuzna's The Dentist movies as it's about the same quality.

Fun Fred Olen Rey directed Full Moon flick.
18 August 2022
Surprisingly good Fred Olen Ray/Charles Band Full Moon effort that gets by mostly due to the practical effects and the fact it's never dull in its short 74-minute runtime. There's a decent cast for this kind of thing to Phil Fondacaro, Brinke Stevens, and even Ross Hagen in a bit part as a country sheriff. The grand finale that reveals the fate of our characters is rather fun, the typical jock bully character gets it the best though in the films best special effect.
