NCIS: Detour (2013)
Season 10, Episode 16

Oh Dear ..........
14 October 2022
This episode was enjoyable - tight up until the ludicrous scenes with Ducky & Palmer 'hiding' from their captors - in the DARK -whilst waving their torches about like a poor man's disco !. They could've saved time by screaming 'Here we are !!'. And if wasn't only the one time that they did it - they continued waving their torches in every remaining scene bar the last one !. I was almost hoarse from sctreaming 'Puf the ******* torches down/away !' By the end of this episode !

Admittedly, the use of torches in TV coo-drama is a personal bug-bear with me - there's endless examples of coos teaching the bad-guys in the dark whilst carry torches but I just cannot see the real cops behaving in a similar fashion- letting the bad-guys KNIW where you are can only disadvantage the good-guys, surely ??

Excellent !

Another excellent episode of L&O - it reminds the viewer of the constant pressure Van Buren was under either because of her colour or her sex !

As a plus, the girl who pkayed Gwendolyn (Jacklin Brooke Sanford) was superb - shame it appears to be her sole role so far !

Superb !

It's a great feeling when you stumble across a film that you immediately know will NEVER leave my 'Top 10 of all-time favourite films' ! I honestly cannot say the last time that I enjoyed a film as much as I enjoyed this - the 2 leads, considering their tender years, are an absolute joy to watch and it'd be very interesting to find out what the director (Philip Leacock) said of his experience with working with such young 'stars' ! Aside from the message/theme this film was trying to get across, these 2 youngsters portrayed what life was like for innocent youngsters in the late 50's/early 60's when 'Imagination' was really everyone's best play-mate !

I'm 50-50 !

Dunno what to make of this film - it's between good and bad !

The bad - James Cosmo and THAT American accent and the awful over-acting of Greg Germann !

The good ? - the parodying of the standard reaction of the American 'defence system' - anything they don't know about that frightens/intrigues them - MUST BE RUSSIAN !

Overall, it's NOT the worst of the Christmas films !

Another entrant for the 'Lousiest Ending' competition!
9 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Good-girl knocks-out bad-boy but DOESN'T take his gun which, naturally, the bad-guy who wasn't knocked-out (shock/horror !) then retrieves the gun - bad-guy goes to shoot good-girl but she goes down shot BEFORE the gun is fired (again - shock/horror !) . Then, for some unfathomable reason, the bad-guy decides to STRANGLE the good-girl - DESPITE having a perfectly good, working gun to the side of him ??!!.

Yet another movie where the movie-makers utter contempt for the viewing public is very obvious !

Hmmmm ??
23 February 2020
For me, this film started off well enough but then it kinda fell flat !. Being honest I probably wouldn't have stuck with it had it not been for Anna Jullienne's presence - this is the first time I've heard of her and I'm an instant fan !. She's stunningly beautiful and, again, being honest, I fell she was mis-cast in this - the 'baddie' in the film isn't meant to emulate the lead-character both in looks and acting !

Hopefully we see more of her !

Irene Handl
18 February 2020
If anything, this film is well worth watching for Irene Handl alone - her part of the dotty, old aunt had me in stitches, she's simply superb in this !

The bonus is Liz Fraser and Vera Day - 2 of Britain's sexiest, beautiful ladies had me pining for 'The old days' !

Good but ..............

......... Brennan Elliott is NOT leading-man material !

Sorry but Brennan Elliott is just not ideal in his role - he's far more suited to being a 'Baddie' !

The Mother-in-law ??
28 November 2019
When I go to meet my maker this is one of the 10 films I'll be taking with me for the journey - I've loved this film since I first saw it in the early 70's !. I've got nothing to add to all the previous superlatives about this film but I DO have a question - WHO played Virna Lisi's Mother in this - was it Ms Lisi herself, made-up to look older or was it another actress entirely ?. I've looked and looked for info on this but can't find anything but the cast-list makes no mention - anyone out there answer a question I've been asking since I first saw this stupendous film ??

50 years old yet STILL brilliant !
19 November 2019
I've just watched this film for the first time and I have to say that I haven't enjoyed a film as much as this in a long time !. I'm not really into 'Westerns' but for some reason I decided to watch this today and I'm so glad that I did - some 'comedy-films' naturally become dated due to the humour but not this one, the humour, even by today's 'standards' is still relevant and still funny !

The script must've been written with Garner's natural character in mind as he just strolls through this film - how he managed to keep a straight face when delivering some of his oft-hilarious lines is testimony to the class and quality that he was known for !

And Joan Hackett is just an absolute dream - I've found it's rare that stunningly beautiful woman can do great comedy at the same time but she accomplishes it with consumate ease - like Garner, I get the feeling that her script also was developed with her natural character in mind. Her performance in this film compounds the tragedy of her far-too-soon death at only 49 - she was surely heading for an numerous award-laden career !!!,

The ending - oh dear !!
10 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Yet another entrant in the 'Dumbest/lamest ending' category for Lifetime-movies - good-girl knocks down ARMED bad-giirl with a healthy crack over her head with a car starting-handle (who-the-hell has these things nowadays ??). Does the good-girl do what any sane, semi-intelligent person would do and pick up the bad-girl's gun and use it to contain her there until the cops arrive ?? Nah, of course not, she completely ignores the gun to pick up the little girl and go running away over an open, deep, sandy-beach - giving the bad-girl plenty of time to recover, not fogetting also giving the bad-girl an extremely easy target !

Aaaaaargh !!

Ideal viewing for when you're a bit down .............
25 April 2019
A lovely, easy-going, pleasant film to watch !. Not really into christian films but this was very good, especially the performance and character of Catalina Rodriguez ! Excellent casting as there's something about this beautiful woman that makes her believeable, this is the first I've heard of her but wil start to look at other things she's done !

As I've said, excellent casting as I think Joey Lawrence was ideal for his part and you could picture these two together in a relationship[ !

Usual fare
18 April 2019
By 'usual' I mean the usual preposterous ending - Deb has the gun on the guy but, for some reason, moves closer to him, giving him the easiest of chances to over-power her - infuriating this competition between these 'script-writers' (children ??) to write the corniest ending yet it STILL goes to film !!

I only give it 2 stars becuase I liked the chemstry between the 2 lead females with Kimberley Hews being absolutely beautiful ! Why she's made so few films is a travesty !

Dear God ????
6 April 2019
I've watched some dross recently but nothing - NOTHING - has been as abysmal as this ?. I only watched it beacuse Emmanuelle Vaugier's in it, and seeing as I like her, I stupidly thought it might be semi-decent but boy, was I wrong !

The conclusion I came to after watching this is that Emmanuelle Vaugier desparately needs a new agent - one who DOESN'T hate her !

Beautiful !
17 March 2019
I really just wanted to watch something that wasn't complicated or nasty or sex-scenes every 5 minutes and this film ticked all my boxes - I haven't enjoyed a film so much in ages !. It's simple, uncomplicated, sweet - just 2 young people who meet and have an instant bond, something the majority of people have experienced at one time or another in their lives - and in this film, although obviously a different time/place etc, it's like watching a trip down memory lane that all can relate to !

The 2 leads (Julie Zhan & Chris Dinh) are excellent, whoever put those 2 together are to be commended for their superb taste !

Terrible !
28 January 2019
Absolutely heart-breaking that an actress of Marguerite Moreau's standard agreed to play a role that made her look like the the world's dumbest woman !. I love Marguerite Moreau, she's a superb actress but whoever advised her to take this part needs shot ! Firstly she believed everything her ex-husband told her - obviously unable to remember her previous experience with him which ended in divorce - but then believes everything his new wife told her - and all without seeing any factual proof from either of them, just took them both at their word ??. Then her best friend gets murdered yet within the hour she's cheerfully agreeing to go to dinner with her ex ??. I know these kind of films aren't 'Oscar-level' but Dear God ....... Hopefully Marguerite Moreau has since sacked her agent !

Quite good

One of the better 'Danielle Steel's films, certainly a vast improvement on her 'Star' effort ! Patrick Duffy is Patrick Duffy - for me one of the better actors and always puts in a good performance. Ben Affleck as his moody teenage son was excellent, too !. Lynda Carter, although not seen until half-way through this film, added classical beauty to the proceedings and the casting of Kate Mulgrew as the stone-hearted, selfish mother who discovered whoredom late on in life was a master-stroke ! All in all, a pleasant viewing !

My Daughter's Secret (2007 TV Movie)
Wtf ??
22 January 2019
Yet another of these 'movies' that leaves you really wondering - 'JUST HOW DO THESE PEOPLE (the 'film' makers !) CONTINUALLY FIND DUMB RICH PEOPLE TO BACK THEM ??' Silly little girl's boyfriend and his brother rob her mother's jewelry-store, KILLING a staff-member in the process - because the silly little-girl is so dumb she's left herself in the position where SHE could be charged with the murder. YET despite talking to their lawyer who advises BOTH mother and daughter to go to the police straight away, the silly little girl amazingly asks for 'time to think about it' - AND MUMMY AGREES ????? THAT'S the standard of this 'film' - made by people who seem to think the entire outside world is as dumb as them !

Such a shame !
16 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I caught the pilot of this series and was instantly hooked .................. but episode-by-episode my interest was just wiped-out - by episode 6 ! The main reason for this was Peter Krause - apparently, playing the part of an irresistable, suave, con-man - I don't think I've ever seen such an apalling mis-cast !. He looked more like he should've been playing a butler or someone's favourite uncle - the idea that someone like him could make Alice, a leading private-investigator, just completely drop all her morals (and knickers) and professional ethics for a man with a face like a washed-out St.Bernard was just too much to take ! Pity, I liked all the other characters, especially the beautiful Rose Rollins, but also Sonya Walger/Shivani Ghai are a delight to the eye !. But I really couldn't stomach the thought of watching it get more and more ridiculous as you can tell that Alice WILL end-up with Ben/Pater Krause !

Fiancé Killer (2018 TV Movie)
Dear God ...............
7 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
.............. just WHERE do the people who make these 'films' find so many incredibly dumb but rich people who finance them ??. There's just so much wrong with this 'film' I really don't have the strength to type out all the apallingly bad points but I'll go with the ending as it really is worst of the worst about it all !. Bad-guy knocks out crazy woman with gun but DOESN'T dis-arm her her or even tie her up - surprise, surprise, it takes more than an iron-shovel to really knock-out crazy-woman who then goes on to shoot bad-guy. Then Mummy creeps up behind crazy-woman who has the gun pointed at the dumb, love-struck daughter - does Mummy use her advantage of surprise ?. Of course not, Mummy goes on to scream her dumb, lovestruck daughter's name which, unsurprisingly, lets crazy-woman with the gun KNOW that Mummy's behind her and so she turns and points the gun at Mummy who's armed with an oh-so-obvious RUBBER iron-poker !. But the dumb, lovestruck daughter begs crazy-woman with gun not to shoot Mummy and so naturally, given the previous standards of this 'film', crazy-woman with gun totaly concedes her advantage and turns around to tell the dumb, lovestruck daughter to shut-up - giving Mummy the chance to bring this farce finally and painfully to an end !

10 Year Reunion (2016 TV Movie)
Oh Dear God ........
4 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
........ this 'film' is just unbelieveably bad !.I only watched it because Kayla Ewell is in it and I just hope this 'film/thing' hasn't damaged her career ! How the script/story was deemed fit for acceptable viewing is a complete mystery to me ! There's just so much that's awful about this 'film' but the ending scene is just the icing on he cake ! 2 girls have just jumped into a car to escape the murderer - a shot ignites the petrol-tank but all of a sudden one girl's seat-belt has somehow or other jammed so she just gives up and tells her friend to save herself then sits back and calmly accepts her flaming death ??. I'd really love to know how much the script-writers got paid for this and also where do I apply for a job alongside them !

Reunited at Christmas (2018 TV Movie)
Quite good !
29 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Overall I enjoyed this film, a nice happy Christmas, easy-to-watch experience. Though I feel the script-writers coud've shown Samantha in a more understanding role, she came across a tad self-centred when trying to keep the 'No wedding' secret from everyone, especially when she basically grabbed Simon's phone from him when he was struggling to think of a decent cover/lie to tell his parents ! The casting of Claire & Bill was excellent as the parents who, ok they'd drifted apart, but very obviously still had a lot of love for each other - my slight 'beef' with their situation is, although to me it's obvious a reconciliation's on the cards for them, it would've been perfect if they'd actually gone ahead with it in the film but maybe the writers thought that was too 'perfect' ??

Good/bad
18 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Good special-effects but oh dear god, the script - example - the mother (Gugino) couldn't deal with dad's (Johnson) inabilty to talk about the loss of their daughter so she dumps him, drops her panties for another man, bringing her daugher along with her (to hold the camera ??) - Johnson then goes on to nearly kill himself trying to save HER life and then he gets the line saying that HE'S 'sorry for how it ended-up between us ??. Would've been far better without any script !

Mistletoe Over Manhattan (2011 TV Movie)
Could've/should've been a good film but .......
11 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I'm with 'lmgannon2on' on this one - Imho - it's the first Hallmark Christmas-film I've seen (hopefully the only one !) featuring a mother who, rather than go Christmas-shopping with her children, prefers to 'stay over' at her boyfriend's ??. She doesn't even attempt to hide the fact from them (AND her husband !) that she's sleeping with the boyfriend , doesn't matter that she's still married !. Then we're meant to accept the hypocrisy of the wife, who originally threw her husband out because he was 'never there for me and the children' due to him working long hours - yet SHE needs to hire a nanny because SHE'S out working long hours (and no doubt, the 'stay over's !) and rarely spends time with the poor kids ? . Plus, a husband (meant to be a cop on the streets of New York) , who spends the entire film teary-eyed, proclaiming his never-ending love for his wife but never shows any sign of emotion/anger over his wife's lifestyle ??.

Poorly written and how it gets a 'U' certificate ('Suitable for all) is beyond me !
