Airport (1970)
A fun movie!
Everything about this movie is fun; the 70s fashions, the cars, the ease with which people move in and out of the airport, the acting (& the over-acting), the who's who of actors starring in the movie... all of those reasons are why this movie works. And makes the plot secondary...although, the plot is pretty good, as well. But, the true stand-outs/stars of this movie are, undoubtedly, Miss Helen Hayes and John Findlater's hair!!!! Miss Hayes is a hoot and Mr. Findlater's hair is just a glossy, blonde, helmet of hilarity; it never ever moves, no matter what he's doing, that hair stays in place like a 737 stuck in the Lincoln snow!
For a real treat: watch this movie and then immediately begin watching Airplane!! Good times!!
MH370: The Plane That Disappeared (2023)
Just another sucky Netflix "documentary"
Jeff Wise is an imbecile portraying himself as some sort of aviation expert. His "theories" are extremely shameful and terribly disrespectful to the family members that lost loved ones. He's almost gleeful as he recites his thoughts on what "really" happened to MH370, which, of course, turn out to be nothing more than figments of his deranged imagination. I mean, come on, the guy was kicked out of a made-up club of online detectives, for his erroneous theories... that should tell you everything you need to know about him and this "documentary".
If it wasn't for the fact that Netflix has the rights to the entire 9 seasons of Seinfeld, I would've thrown in the proverbial towel long ago!!
Turning Red (2022)
Awful, just...awful.
My 14 year old granddaughter thought "it was terrible". And yet, she's the target audience. I decided to watch it myself. I think my granddaughter was being kind when she only described it as "terrible". And absolutely awful movie that completely missed the mark.
The Rockford Files: Dirty Money, Black Light (1977)
Another terrific episode...
...Evelyn "Angel" Martin is wonderfully hilarious, as always (and it's great that Stuart Margolin also directed the episode!) but, Theodore Calvin would NEVER!!
Captive Audience (2022)
Why? Just, why!?
There's zero new information. There's zero insight. There's zero reason to re-tell either story. And having the actors read from Steven and Cary's interviews?? Why?? This was just a horrible attempt by Hulu to be edgy. The ONLY redeeming part was seeing, and hearing from Steven's wife, daughter and son... but even they didn't shed any new light on their Dad's story, which they admit they can barely remember... and definitely didn't shed any light on Cary, who they didn't know at all.
Downfall: The Case Against Boeing (2022)
Oh, the irony...
... that this documentary was produced by Rory Kennedy. God Knows if ANYBODY knows about scandal, subterfuge & crapping on the general public, it'd be a damn Kennedy.
An American Pickle (2020)
Oy vey!!!
There are SO MANY funny and talented Jewish comedians... why, oh why, couldn't Rogan set aside his ego and cast one of THEM in the role of the great-grandson!!!??? It could've been, would've been, enjoyable had he done so. But double the Rogan? Yikes!
Dolly Parton: A MusiCares Tribute (2021)
I love Dolly!!
And she deserves ALL the accolades, so it was disappointing to see musical artists paying tribute to this living legend (who supposedly "worship" her), but didn't know the words to her songs. Aside from Chris Stapleton (his song was easy: 9 to 5) and Leon Bridges (kudos to this genuine artist!), every one of them had to constantly look down at the teleprompter to make sure they were singing the songs correctly. Come on, it's Dolly!!
Everybody Loves Raymond: Super Bowl (2001)
This episode makes me cringe & very uncomfortable!
I ADORE Patricia Heaton, the actress and humanitarian, so this is in no way an attack on the actress...and most of the time I really like Debra Barone... goodness knows she puts up with a lot. But, sometimes and I'm not saying all the time, but SOMETIMES, I DETEST Debra Barone. And THIS is one of those times. She, in this episode, is everything she claims Marie is: intrusive, selfish, childish, difficult, over-bearing, rude and absolutely and completely AWFUL!!! She treats Ray, in front of his best friend, his colleagues and his colleagues' wives, terribly. She should be ashamed, but instead Ray rewards her awful behavior by letting her, ultimately, get her way. The reason is doesn't like Marie is because she acts JUST like Marie!!
A good actress makes you believe their part... trust me I feel it!! Which is why Patricia Heaton is a great actress!
Lego Masters (2020)
Could be so good...I said COULD BE...
No one (besides MAYBE their families) wants to be invested in these contestants, so let's get to why most of us tuned-in to begin with: LEGO!!! Bottom line: less horrible acting by horrible actors and more Lego building!!!
