Sandylands (2020)
Don't give up after the first episode...
When I was on iplayer it recommended Sandylands. I thought that I would give it a go and watched the first episode. It was littered with Carry On style innuendos and cringy quips. It appeared a bit tacky and outdated. I thought I wouldn't watch another episode, but I did, and I'm glad I did. The programme is tacky in parts, just like the stereotypical seaside resort entertainment venues, donkey rides, promenades, slot machines with all the irritating bright lights and monotonous sounds, but it's intentional, and it's those aspects of seaside resorts which draw us to revisit them. Once you accept this the storylines and humourous parts just keep getting better. The acting, contrary to some reviews is actually quite good and you really start to like the characters. I'm disappointed that there hasn't been a third series planned...the cliffhanger at the end of series 2 encourages the notion. It's not the greatest comedy ever, but is certainly worth watching. Iplay only has the 3 episodes from series 1. I had to go on to UKTV to watch the second series.
Pooch Perfect UK (2021)
THE not so Dog's Doo-Dahs!
I couldn't even get through 10 minutes of this drivel without want to gouge out my eyes. I like Sheridan Smith, but a competition host she is definitely not! She should just stick to what she does best: Acting! The problem with the Beeb, in fact most of the traditional channels, is that they are desperately exploiting the reality competition sector and the onus is on desperate. This is on par with the extremely poor re-hash of The Generation Game. The beeb got burned badly when they lost the superior Great British Bake Off and seem to have lost the plot and the viewers as well. Maybe they'll get it right again...ONE DAY!
Me and My Girl: Thinking About Fluffy (1988)
A bit cringy
This episode was probably one of the worst of the series. It's unbelievable and a bit cringy. I think they were starting to run out of ideas.
By the way Nancy was played by Patricia Brake not Patricia Blair.
