Morbius (2022)

SONY STOP MAKING MARVEL MOVIES!!!
2 April 2022
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse gave hope that Sony can actually handle Marvel properties properly. But it's clear after seeing Morbius that they don't have a grip on how to do these IPs justice. And for those who'd say "yeah but Tom Holland's Spider-Man is successful." I'd say, you're right. It's fresh and new and produced by the MCU. The only hand Sony had in those were distribution and minor oversight by Amy Pascal (Sony lead producer).

Both Venom films were just okay and barely palatable. Only saving grace is that Venom actually looks and sounds like Venom.

Morbius failed to even live up to that.

The most frustrating part of this movie was seeing small elements of a good story coming together but they never do. Fall's short on continuity, suspension of believe, acting (not including Leto who has drawn bad luck twice on comic book films), and majorly the writing and storytelling. I mean, no disrespect intended, but the writing team responsible did not have a track record indicating they were going to be successful on this project and that showed most evidently.

I think it's time for Disney to go all in on recapturing the Marvel characters Sony has the rights to. Either by an exclusive deal to re-obtain them, or pull a 20th Century Fox and buy the company.

Just a shame.

EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED!

Disney Parks are severely under represented on Disney+ and this series is absolutely perfect!

In the same spirit of Disneyland (all parks really), I hope this never ends as the parks continue to grow and add on!

Warning: Spoilers
Finally! We got an episode where we see more crossover characters from the two major animated series. Seeing Bo Katan was refreshing and done very well in both writing and acting. Learning that Din Djarin is a "Child of the Watch" was a nice twist. In retrospect, it shouldn't be too surprising given the clip we see in season 1 where he's taken up as a child in the arms of a Death Watch mando, but still great to get clarification. Very excited to see where the next episode picks up from the end of this episode. Honestly my only critic is that it isn't longer. Would've been a 10/10 if they added ten or so more minutes to help the flow of the episode breathe easier. But a phenomenal chapter nonetheless.
