Is this an "after school special" or what?
14 August 2010
Recently became more "aware" of western shows and movies, when I first started watching this movie I thought of an after school special.

This movie isn't even close to being realistic, not to the times nor to the demeanor of the era.

This movie had a lot of potential, but failed at every turn. I would not recommend this movie to an enemy.

The acting is horrid, the scenes not thought out. I just wasted nearly 2 hours of my time on this, but yes I had to give it a full chance.

The brother really bothered me with his "do the right thing" attitude which I don't think would even happen in those days, much less now.

I don't think this movie should have been made, the screenplay should have been burned.

I'm sorry to be so harsh but this movie is total rubbish and I'm actually ticked off about my wasted time.

The FOX and the CHILD
9 December 2008
Warning: Spoilers
Maybe I'm biased to foxes, fox stories and all but I thought this was wonderfully done.

I really enjoyed that it was shown when Lily wasn't comfortable, such as the fire and the room (trying not to spoil too much here). I think that's important for kids to see and try to understand.

After reading a few others comments I'm a bit confused, one says that at the end -spoiler- the mother and her son appear, as she's been the one telling her son about her story. The movie I saw did NOT have the mother or son at the end, merely a painting of a girl with a fox. Can someone enlighten me on that? Anyway I really enjoyed this movie, although some scenes can be a bit slow which might be difficult for high energy kids to sit through. Still worth it if they can sit still.

Robin Hood: Peace? Off! (2006)

Harold wearing camouflage?
25 December 2007
I'm starting to really like this show. It does seem though that the budget is low with poor effects and inaccurate costuming.

Furthermore the worst I've seen is Harold and his camouflage pants. How did they miss that?

I do like the show however and I understand they strive more on the comedic aspect but would like it to appear a bit more realistic for the era.

There seems to be a lot of costuming issues now that I look back at the episodes I've seen.

Such as Robin's hooded outfits, they really don't appear right for the time either.

I do think that with all the medieval weapons and fighting there might be more violence, however maybe they are trying to make the show more family friendly?

Such as how Robin rarely kills?

I'm glad I read the book first
12 March 2006
Okay some very good actors were in this movie. I'm glad I hadn't seen this movie until recently though. Being a HUGE fan of Nelson DeMille and loving the wit he puts into his characters (especially Brenner) I was highly disappointed with the movie. Travolta isn't bad but he does not fit the character in any way, shape or form. Cynthia (Madeleine Stowe) who for some reason was renamed Sarah also didn't work for the movie.

I counted (I think) about 3 witty things from Brenner, where in the book it was non-stop. That's the best part about his character is that he's hilarious in his "wit". I give the movie 3/10. I hope I don't see Travolta's face when I read the next Brenner book.
