Mothers of Bedford (2011)
Like great literature, this film reveals more each viewing

This beautiful film sensitively follows the lives of several incarcerated mothers who, even with the support of their particular correctional facility, still face many challenges in staying close to their children. The camera captured everyday life at the prison, at the families' homes, and in the part of the prison where the kids and mother/inmates could come together. You will witness milestones, big and small, over a period of years, and you will find yourself drawn in to the women's pain and moments of joy. Motherhood's special power comes through. See this film multiple times--like great literature, "Mothers of Bedford" reveals a deeper layer of truth in each telling.I was left thinking more deeply about what rehabilitation means.
