She Said (2022)
Loved this movie even though it was at times infuriating.....
Loved this movie, even though it was at times infuriating and nauseating to hear about the reprehensible behavior Harvey Weinstein and his cohorts got away with for so long. Absolutely despicable that the powers that be protect the abusers instead of the victims.
The brave women who came forward, the reporters who made sure their voices were heard and the folks responsible for this movie getting made are all heroes.
This film is very well done, engaging and relevant.
I did find it interesting, and a bit disappointing, that when I typed the title of this film into IMDB search, it was 17 titles down on the list of movies the search generated. Of the first 16, only one had the actual title "She Said". Maybe it's a coincidence, but it smacks of more of the same nastiness portrayed in the film.
Cellmates (2011)
Wonderful movie with a heartwarming human element.
Tom Sizemore is fabulous in this movie. ALL the main character actors are fabulous. I found this movie not only entertaining, but very endearing. It doesn't shove political correctness down your throat (regarding race relations and immigration). Instead it shows how 3 of the 4 main characters, who seem very different in every way, are more alike than they could ever imagine. The mutual love and understanding between them develops nicely in this very enjoyable film. The scene with Tom Sizemore's character helping his cell mate with his unruly hair is priceless.
Props to the great Stacey Keech for his wonderful portrayal of a racist, civil rights oblivious prison warden of the time. Just wonderful.
If you require rip roaring action to keep you entertained you should look elsewhere, but if you love a movie that weaves a story at a good pace with humor & honest characters that you like and root for, Cellmates is definitely worth your time.
The soundtrack is fabulous too.
Enjoy!
Ace Wonder: Message from a Dead Man (2014)
Wonder-ful movie! Ignore obnoxiously pretentious bad reviews.
I am so happy to have found this gem in Amazon Prime video. It was charmingly unaffected and very well put together. The plot was interesting from the first scene. It not only kept my attention, I was caught up in the mystery and enjoyed each and every moment that these wonderful characters were on screen working together. I found the main characters extremely likable and relatable. Some reviewers stated "how horrible" the acting was. They are apparently far to self-important to be able to appreciate this great film for what it is; a refreshingly fun, family friendly mystery with an interesting set of characters in a beautiful location that put a smile on my face. I hope you will give it a watch. I also hope that Mr. Moore and his family will be kind enough to grace us with at least another Ace Wonder movie.
