People will hate me for it but
17 March 2022
People will hate me for it but this amazing series just jumped the shark.

This season was just off in so many ways. The likes feel cheesy now and I used to feel like it had personality and unique fingerprints in the production but the direction feels terrible.

I don't understand why a show goes this off course and it's either the actors laying it on too thick or their direction but it was noticeable.

Also the plots are generic and shallow. They go for easy emotional pickings and rinse n repeat arcs.

It's very disappointing because now we are just arbitrarily reset in many ways.

It's basically trying to pretend that convenient dramatic deaths cleared this path of redemption that's really just a cycle.

No, you're not foreshadowing e In earlier seasons to lead to some of the lame plot devices you've set up.

It's just lazy.

I'll keep it short and tidy, almost mediocre
24 December 2021
Almost mediocre for me is a 5.7 and this ain't it.

This movie is entirely too meta. The foundation for a reason to follow up is hollow and unsatisfying.

The changes to the lore add nothing and only detract from the initial prestige of the franchise.

It feels overly expensive and simultaneously cheap.

It feels the way I did after realized The Force Awakens was just a rehash of the originals but with an accurate atmosphere of the universe.

The difference here is that you'll realize it before the film is over half way complete.

The tone is right but the devices to achieve a plot are empty, rhetorical, aesthetically pleasing nonsense with no soul.

I had hopes of a decent film after the first 20 minutes or so but then it starts a free fall.

I hope you like it as a popcorn flick but it's entirely too long to be such a disappointing cash grab.

The juice ain't worth the squeeze is all I'm sayin folks.

This is absolutely great for what it is
23 July 2021
I'm not usually early enough to write a review so before people get busy giving 1s and 10s let me tell you something.

Keep your mind open and expectations low. This franchise has failed before because people wanted more than it could offer.

This series had me rolling my eyes just a hair at first. It's not going to be the kind of reboot you think.

I loved it. I grew up with this cartoon and the toys and I loved what's been done here to set a new standard and break away from the old molds.

Kevin Smith did a great job balancing each aspect of the show but building on the mythos.

I watched it for nostalgia and didn't expect much but for what it is this is a fantastic iteration and I can't believe it got better with each episode.

I really thought I'd end up dissappointed but now I'm angry it feels so short and who knows when we'll get a season 2.

If you enjoyed Castlevania I'd compare it very favorably but less adult oriented. It's family friendly even I'd say.

Please don't give it a 1 when it doesn't immediately go the way you had thought. This is some serious character building for a known commodity in the animated space.

Loved it and would rate at 7.6 but I'll round up since it's damn near impossible to make He-Man and not be corny in 2021 while staying true to what I remember as a fan.

Altered Carbon (2018–2020)
8/10
Season 1 is 10/10 season 2 is 8/10

So I won't go deep into a review. I'll keep it short and sweet. Season 1 was amazing and it's a huge let down to lose the Tok we all know and love.

I like Mackie but I thought he'd fall flat as Tok but he held up just fine. The issue is actually that Kinnaman is so damn good at these roles. He just owns every character he portrays. Mackie does a good job and even adopts some of Kinnamans portrayal mechanisms like his gait and walk.

I think the acting was great all the way around with an exception here and there for the antagonists. So basically it's still a good show but the defects of the narrative come through a little more without the primary characters role being so enigmatic with the actor we were all probably attached to so much.

It's still a great series and absolutely worthy of binging. Just give it a few episodes and the immersive world will draw you in and clean up any lingering doubts. Support unique story telling folks and try to avoid letting the story fall flat because the acting isn't what you expect.

There must be bots rating this garbage
20 November 2019
It's not a 1 only bc it spends more time on kylo and the action scenes near the end and at the end are visually appealing.

From a plot perspective it's terrible. From a Star Wars perspective it ruins a lot of prior canon. From a fan perspective it takes a huge dump all over the character of Luke.

There's no reason to ever watch this movie more than once.

I assume it's bc of all of the social arguments going on and a certain set of those fans are more likely to vote.

This is a movie about friendships
22 September 2019
Imagine more of "Stand By Me" approach to how these friends end their journey and I think you'll be much more satisfied.

I won't dive deep into why the movie is long but if you go down that journey of self exploration along with each character I believe you'll be deeply enlightened and personally empathetic with their plights.

Game of Thrones: The Iron Throne (2019)

If I could give this a negative score I would
20 May 2019
This was the worst series decline in the history of television including Dexter.

The reason it's the worst is due to the epic level of intrigue that immediately preceded the entire final season and it just kept getting worse every episode.

What a waste of time to even see how it turns out. I'd be more satisfied if a meteor struck Westeros and destroyed the planet.

Awesome series and season 4 on Netflix keeps the party going.

Netflix almost singlehandedly keeps my hopes for the entertainment alive.

Sick of SJW bull in movies, me too
10 March 2019
I'm really annoyed by all the social justice bs that is being artificially inseminated into EVERYTHING but I didn't get much of that here.

There's the obvious stuff like comments about her gender, guys picking on her, etc etc but it's actually pretty rare.

I think they did a pretty good job of editing and a better job of humor which really kept this movie afloat.

I'd rather give it a 6.6 than a 7. It's really not quite a 7 but it's more fair than a 6 imho.

My review is geared toward those like me who are fair but also frustrated with some elements of modern movie making that invite fans by fanning flames.

I don't care for pushing personal agendas at the expense of the writing. The quality of the writing should always be paramount; consistent and reasonable.

The primary reasonable critique is that she's just too powerful. It'll be difficult to have her be interesting in future movies in the same way it's difficult to write a quality Superman story.

What more can you ask of a Reboot
29 March 2009
I'll keep this short and sweet. This was gruesome and twistedly faithful to the original in spirit and effect. I totally expected to be the one tortured when watching, well I should have left my preconceived notions at the door. The acting was sharp, the plot devices made just enough sense that it never broke my disbelief and I admittedly had to briefly look away from some scenes.

The setup was stellar and the ending did not disappoint. I give it a 7 but if it was possible I would have given it a 7.5.

Good for the genre and great by comparison of other remakes.

I would definitely suggest it to anyone that enjoys the genre.
