Misfits (2009)
Great show with a dark edge
Misfits appeals to me by being different from the usual American shows which have that kinda commercial feeling to it. It's got a kind of darkness hanging over each episode and appears to be quite serious from time to time. They took quite a leap with this show, running the risk of it not being appealing to a big audience and being canceled after only one season (like a lot of the sometimes good stuff :P). On the other hand the show can also be a lot of fun. Especially the part of Nathan, played by Robert Sheehan, will get you to laugh from time to time. Often he is such a ridiculous ass. The show features (at least I think so) 'typical' dark humor that I have seen in more British shows. The whole superhero/powers theme of the series isn't overdone and it focuses more on the persons in play than on their abilities and their capabilities to use them.
10 Things I Hate About You: Pilot (2009)
Entertaining but not great
I found this pilot to be entertaining but not great. The acting mostly was awful, especially by Dana Davis. She is just too fake overall. To be honest Lindsey Shaw surprised me. I've only known her from Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide. The role she plays in this series isn't too different from the role she had in the Ned series but she seems to make more of it. Even tough I have to say she really doesn't meet the Julia Stiles standard set in the original "10 Things I Hate About You" movie. Overall I would say this series tries too hard to be something while actually it isn't much. It doesn't come anywhere close to the quality of the original movie because of bad casting. It's nowhere near "Greek", another ABC Family series with kinda the same feel to it.
