Madame Web (2024)

A Cinematic Disaster Event
18 February 2024
Yesterday I had the opportunity to see "Madame Web" and, yes, it is one of the worst films of the year, but it was still a cinematic event. It was camp, the film tries to take itself so seriously that it ends up being an unexpected comedy.

The script is so horrible and the direction is so pointless that you won't be able to take your eyes off the screen.

The entire cast is so bad that it ends up being entertaining.

The visual effects are of even lower quality than tv shows... I recommend everyone to watch the film at least once in their lives and then erase it from their memories forever.

Sofia Gives Everything
25 January 2024
I confess that I was one of the people who was a little skeptical about the great Sofia Vergara taking on a drama role, after having spent 11 years with her in 'Modern Family', but in 'Griselda' she transforms completely and shows us what a fantastic actress she is - and who could earn her an Emmy.

Although this is not a series on the level of Narcos, the makeup department and Sofia Vergara make this series worth watching.

I already knew Griselda's story slightly (thanks to the average 2017s TV movie with a fine performance of Catherine Zeta-Jones), but Netflix's 'Griselda' gives us a more complete and detailed story of how dangerous and complex Griselda was. It deserves to be seen.

Ted (2024)

Seth MacFarlane killed it again.
12 January 2024
Just when I thought I couldn't laugh more at the series of recent years, here comes Seth MacFarlane with one of the best comedies of this decade so far.

The actors are good, the script is incredible and the reference to the 90s couldn't be better. The fact that MacFarlane created iconic series like Family Guy, American Dad and then two iconic films like Ted, he offers us this iconic series, which unfortunately only has 7 episodes. We need more seasons and I think this might be the best thing Peacock has done in streaming.

The jokes are so hilarious, also the visual effects with Ted are on the same level as the movies. GENIUS.

Disappointed...
5 November 2021
I already had the opportunity to watch 'Glória' on Netflix. I'm not gonna lie. The technique of cinematography, edition and even the writing itself is very much in the style of the typical portuguese telenovela... And that's not good at all... The acting is so dead... It's sad that this is Netflix's 1st Portuguese project... I expected more. So much more.... If u want to watch a good Portuguese history spy series, watch 'A Espia' instead.

There's so Much Better Versions
3 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The screenplay wasn't anything new, even there's a fresh side in this version. The jokes were kinda weak and didn't land well.

The music mixing originals and covers were an interesting idea but not such a good execution - even "Somebody to Love" was such better singing and felt in Anne Hathaway version of Cinderella.

Camilla Cabello wasn't that good, even for someone who never acted before - we watched better movie debuts by singers like Jennifer Hudson, Tina Turner, Cher or Will Smith.

The only highlight of this movie is the supporting cast - Idina Menzel as stepmother was such a delicious performance and Billy Potter as Fab G was such a funny character.

Brilliant
2 September 2021
Visually outstanding, the choreography of the fight scenes was one of the greatest I ever watched in recent movies. Michelle Yeoh own every single scene that she was on it and Awkwafina was funny as ever. And the story? Great, some plot twists and with great clues to follow the next phase of the MCU!

Many of the High reviews are from DC Hard Fans
18 March 2021
Well I watch the movie. For those who have not watch the first version, you are capable of getting crazy with the film. Live like you've never lived before. Now for those who have watch the first version of the film, it is good to see a development of all the characters in due time and the improvement of the action and CGI scenes, but the film is very long, it becomes a little tedious for the viewer and the line of the plot has the same poor circuit of the Joss Whedon one. And I was disappointed to see only 5 minutes of the Joker, with so much publicity around him.

EP. 1: An Emmy Worth It Show
12 March 2021
All of this behind the scenes are the reason why WandaVision will win so many Emmys, including Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn. Watching this team work in terms of direction, screenwriting, musical composition, visual effects and acting is completely extraordinary. It's a brilliant trip behind the scenes, and I hope that all MCU mini-series that follow this one would be on the same level as WandaVision.

I just finished watch the first 2 episodes and it's incredible! I literally don't want to spoil anything but it's so worth it to watch. Great addition to the MCU! Some Emmys would be delivered to this magnificent series!

A watchable movie but...
26 June 2020
Rachel McAdams for me, in terms of acting, was the high point in the film, but I don't detract from the work of other actors like Brosnan or Dan Stevens. The soundtrack is super catchy and has songs that get stuck in your head and you might listen them again later. And Demi Lovato's cameo is something I'm going to have a hard time to forget. For me the worst of the movie was the screenplay and Will Farrell's performance. I thought the screenplay (written by Farrell) was completely based on stereotypes and lazy comedy. Farrell's performance, on the other hand, sometimes costs a lot to look at the screen and see him perform. In my opinion, he should stick to sketching on SNL and leave films for anyone who knows how to act.

AJ (Amazing and Joyful) and The QUEEN
11 January 2020
This is one of the most sweetest series I watche it in a while. With a fresh plot, a lot of drag and real subjects, "AJ and The Queen", promise to give u what u want. RuPaul gave is best acting job of his career and incredible lipsyncs for his life, proving that his still the best in this game. A lot of drama, funny moments and comic scences that will make your heart melting. Btw, this series will win an Emmy for Costume Design!

The Politician (2019–2020)

Jessica Lange hold hands again with Ryan in a brilliant adventure
28 September 2019
Ryan Murphy does not stop. "The Politician" is a black comedy with some heavy psychological scenes that bring us to the political reality of the United States through an insight into teens. Starring Daytime Emmy winner, Ben Platt brings us a political figure that we are used to seeing in front of the audience, but never what's behind it. And this is the reality that Ryan wants to show it. With performances that deserve an Emmy Award from Jessica Lange to Gwyneth Paltrow and, perhaps for Best Guest Actress - Bette Midler, who is back in the television world. A brilliantly written argument, with a praise achievement and a very diverse and talented cast. It will probably take a few nominations for the Emmys. Well done!

"Variações" is a love letter to Portuguese cinema
25 August 2019
Portuguese cinema had a great evolution in this decade. Movies such as "La Cage Dorée", "Blood of My Blood", "Parque Mayer" or "Jogo de Damas" are some of the films that prove it. "Variações" joins this list and brings something new that few films bring with them: a love letter to the cinema. Although the budget in Portugal is small it is amazing how they can create films of this large size. João Maia was fantastic as a director as well as a screenwriter, the cinematography is very effective, a wardrobe that could have been better invested, but a great and fabulous makeup and hair styling. Sérgio Praia's performance is praiseworthy and deserves all the awards and a few more, I even dare to say that he should be the first Portuguese actor to compete for the Oscar nominations. Between "Parque Mayer" and "Variações" I don't know which one can compete for the nomination for Best Foreign Film at the Oscars. But one thing is for sure this movie will make our Portuguese people cry.

I called to my mom after the movie
2 August 2019
I mean, yes is a predictable comedy BUT the message that this movies pass us is so strong and powerful. A solid screenplay, a nice directing style with a Netflix budget and with the outstanding and brilliant performances of the Oscar nominated actresses Angela Bassett and Felicty Huffman and Oscar Winner Patrícia Arquette. Recommended to the all the grown up sons that live far away from their mother. And in the end of the movie u're gonna miss her so much that u gonna call to your mom until she answer.

The best Tim Burton's movie since the Oscar winning film "Alice In Wonderland"
30 March 2019
This was spectacular. "Dumbo" is a film that gonna make you cry, hopping and wishing to see your parents right away. The writing is brilliant, Tim Burton creating a darkest sweet version of the classic movie, the costume design is awesome, the production design crazy good like every Burton movie and the cast - AMAZING. Colin Farrell with a sweet performance, Eva Green stunning like always, Michael Keaton showing us his dark side and Danny DeVito stilling every single scene. And Dumbo is the cutest elephant in the world. A MUST SEE!

P. L. Travers is crying of emotion, whatever she is
21 December 2018
This was one of the most brilliant movies I've seen this year. The cast was incredible, the costume designer stunning, the production design marvelous and the visual effects nostalgic. Emily Blunt was the perfect Mary Poppins and Julie Andrews she would bw proud of her legacy. Meryl Streep and Dick Vin Dyke amazing cameos. Rob Marshall with an incredible direction and stunning choreography. Even P. L. Travers "hating" the cartoons, she would be proud of this version.

It was not meant to be
20 November 2018
I'm a huge "The Simpsons" fan and I'm having the best time watching Rupaul, but put on this two together it wasn't one of the brightest ideas in this show. I was really excited but the plot was a big disappointed and RuPaul was trying to hard in his voice character. And then just a 2 seconds Stan Lee Memorial after a episode like this one? This was a forgetbell episode but still had a few good jokes.

J. K. Rowling she's still surprising? Always!
14 November 2018
I was a little afraid to be disappointed with the plot because of the critics BUT like always, the critics love to hate sequels and prequels. But this one was more than incredible, the all the Harry Potter references, the surprises in the movie! The costumes magnifficent, amazing visual effects and the cast are more than incredible, special Johnny Depp and Dan Fogler. Waiting for the next one!

Abba, The Original Cast and Cher! What do you need more?
20 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I know this is not a cinema masterpiece but this is really unique and probably one of the few movies when the sequel is better than the original.

Best Parts of the Movie:
  • The relationship of Sophie and Donna is stronger than ever. The duet between Meryl and Amanda is incredible, very touching and probably you're going to cry a lot in that part.
  • Cher singing "Fernando" is probably the best musical moment of the movie. I mean, Cher should be in every single movie in this world. All the cast are great but when the Goddess of Pop enter in the movie we just want to see more.
  • Rosie and Tanya are funniest characters in the movie, the young and the oldest ones. And Tanya have the greatest lines on the movie.
  • "Super Trouper" is a duet with Cher and Meryl Streep with the backing vocals of all the cast. Seeing this two having a song together is like heaven on the earth.
  • The Screenplay is not gold, but it's funny and entertainer. This is not a Oscar material movie but it is a movie to warm our hearts.
