A New Life (II) (2023)

Navigating Grief and Love in "A New Life"
13 March 2024
"A New Life" is a touching movie about a man named Ronald who's getting back into dating after his wife, Stephanie, died six years ago. As he navigates the dating world again, you can really feel the emotions in his journey. The acting is solid, and the storyline keeps you interested throughout. Director Choice Skinner and the whole team did a good job bringing this story to life.

The movie handles themes of love, loss, and moving on in a realistic way. It has its funny moments and its sad ones, and it all feels genuine. "A New Life" reminds us that even after tough times, there's still hope for happiness.

A fantastic independent film
6 January 2023
BEYOND THE GATES OF HELL as great acting, cinematography, sound design, and music. The storyline is tight and clever. Everyone put their heart and their professionalism into this. I love the effect of the old school grainy screen; this enhanced the films texture.

My favourite performances were from Jennifer Moriarty and Brad Banacka. Still, I loved and admired everyone else's performances.

Joshua Palace's interpretation of Fabio Frizzi's musical style was fun to enjoy and it enhanced the movie's suspenseful buildup.

If there is one indie movie you see this year, make it this one. Bravo, Dustin Ferguson, and bravo to his entire team.

A fun werewolf film from Chris Sanders!
21 December 2022
I found the premise of this film interesting - a parish keeping a werewolf locked in their church. The transformation scenes were well done and there were some decent moments of gore. It was nice to see Vernon Wells on screen.

As to be expected from a Chris Sanders film, the cinematography and the sound design were tight. There is a lot of audial and visual touches that give the film atmosphere.

Chris and his entire team show a lot of promise and have much to be proud of. I'm looking forward to seeing what they have to bring in the future.

Sure, the film has its flaws, but as this was made on a budget, and everyone put their best into the project, so any perceived shortcomings deserve a pass.

So, enjoy some dry and quirky British humour along with some simple, yet effective werewolf effects and some fun scenes of viscera and gore.

Thank you for all the entertainment you've given us, Chris Sanders!!

A worthy effort from promising talent!
2 November 2022
Demons At Dawn is a lot of fun. The cinematography and the sound design are tight. The dialogue and plot of the script is good. There were a few things I felt needed tightening, but overall, these issues are forgivable. Every actor did a fine job and you could see that they were all having a great time making the movie, which adds to the viewing enjoyment.

My favourite performance was from Chris Sanders (the screenwriter and producer) in his role as Levi Saracen. He is very convincing as a cool, cold-hearted mediator between the cult and the victims.

The build-up toward the supernatural, climactic ending worked well.

Although the film is dressed up as fictional entertainment about the supernatural, it addresses real worldwide criminal behaviour in a careful manner. So, it has the potential beyond its entertainment value to encourage dialogue and awareness among viewers.

I am strongly convinced that Chris Sanders, Randy Kent, and all of the team involved in this are talents to keep your eye on because they show promise for great things to come.

So, grab some popcorn, get Demons At Dawn loaded on your favourite streaming platform, don't be judgmental, and enjoy this film for what it is: an indie-horror fun-ride!!

Entertaining and great cinematography
1 July 2022
I found this film entertaining and loved the cinematography. There were a few flaws to this movie, but they are forgivable. All the actors did a great job and the storyline held me. I personally felt that the story could have been tightened and developed further, but I still give props to Chris Sanders for his excellent effort on his first film...not to mention his strong acting ability. I look forward to his promising future works.

Fun indie horror
6 May 2022
Rakeem and his team put together a love letter to 80s slashers. SECOND CHANCE is full of blood, gore, dramatic screams, and moments of outrageousness that make indie horror the beloved genre it is for all of us hardcore horror fans. Looking forward to more of his work!

The more personal the story, the more universal it is
29 April 2022
Every short film in this anthology comes from a very personal place, and as a result, every single one is universal in its appeal and relatability. This anthology creates a space for exploring women's mental health and at the same time, it is watchable for men too, who will be able to find parallels with their own experiences and see that none of us are really that different from each other.

My personal favourites were "Over The Moon" and "Fragile Storm." There is something in this anthology for everyone.

Great work to all involved.

The Familiar (I) (2009)

Sharp wit and horror make a good combination
23 March 2019
This film is fun. It is a self-aware vampire story. It takes itself seriously while it laughs at itself (and the vampire genre). There is sarcasm and wit. Ever had to deal with an insufferable boss? The Familiar takes that universally relatable experience and dresses it up in vampire lore.

After reading the one negative review of this film, I decided to put it my own two cents. If you're coming here expecting a film that is reminiscent of Blade or The Lost Boys, or Near Dark, you've come to the wrong place.

This is a fan vampire lore telling you a story intended to make you laugh, relate, and also poke a bit of fun at the vampire sub genre we love.

Nice work. Good storytelling. Great sense of humour.
