We liked it

We hesitated watching this with my 7 and two 9 year olds, but I'm glad we gave it a go. There wasn't a Common Sense Media review with age recommendations, but I'd say it's fine for 7 and up. We are pretty picky about what we let our kids watch and this one past the test. No bad language, mild flirting, good storyline. There are a few abnoxious kids, but nothing a parent can't contradict with a "now that wasn't very nice" comment. Like others have mentioned, it's reminiscent of some 80s flicks, but our kids haven't seen those, so the storyline was new to them. I'd say the acting was fine except for the bad guy-not great. It's not winning any awards, but honestly, I wish studios made more family movies like this. Good, decent, family entertainment. Don't set your expectations too high, just grab the kiddos, pop some corn and enjoy a movie night together.

Nessie & Me (2016)

I've never written a review for a movie, but I felt I needed to spare people from the pain of this movie. We also got this from the library. It's really bad. The acting is awful. The "nessie" storyline isnt really the main focus. There's just one odd scene after another. A guy on the golf course was hitting people in the head with golfballs for fun. Then a woman walks up to him very inappropriately dressed for a kids movie. The dynamic between the male and females throughout the movie isn't great. The women are scantily dressed and the men make inappropriate remarks and jestures, constantly objectifying them. There is a scene when the old captian tells the boy not to tell his parents about their relationship. What kind of messages are they trying to send in this "G" rated film. I could go on and on, but it's not worth your time and neither is this movie. The movie case said "The most entertaing movie of the year!" Ha...in what universe? Spare yourself agony. It's completely lacking in good quality content, values and storyline.
