Rick and Morty: How Poopy Got His Poop Back (2023)
Something's off.. and it's not Justin Roiland.
I really don't mind Justin Roiland being replaced, it seems as though the new voice actors are at least an 8.5/10 in their efforts, so that's great.
The problem is the writing and the flow though. There seems to be something very off with episode 1 of this new season. It's like the show's IQ has lost about 20 points.
It lacks the rapid fire genius of delivery. Everything seems to be slowed down or just not quite hitting the spot.
Rick and Morty is unique as an animated show. And for whatever reason it feels very vanilla today.
Maybe somebody smarter than myself can dive into it and explain why.
The Sea Beast (2022)
Generic Inclusive Rubbish
Just the usual modern animated movie that tries to get all 223 nationalities into one movie. So that everybody feels included and nobody feels excluded.
Moana included only pacific characters and was great.
Coco (my favourite animated movie) contained only Mexican characters and that was a fantastic movie.
Why is it that whenever there's a movie based around majority white storylines they have to go all inclusive and ruin the theme of the movie? I understand pirates were very multinational, made up of ragtag bunches who wanted to risk it all, but this movie starts out with an orphanage set in what?-1600-1850? With a child of every nation.
I just wish they found better ways to make movies more inclusive. Just creating a story and then slapping a different colour palette- and differently shaped faces (asian) is just so lazy, it's a modern day sickness.
The Batman (2022)
3 hrs later...
The first half was a 9/10. The dark feeling and build up was awesome. But the 2nd half was a 6, also it felt 30 minutes longer than it should have been. I wasn't the only one who said and thought so.
The Pickup Game (2019)
Half the story - half the review score
While it's true that RSD and the other pickup mentors are looking for your money.. they ARE a business. You've got to expect marketing in all walks of life.. from McDonalds to Hugo Boss to the friendly plumber down the street, they're all deploying marketing strategies to get your money.
That doesn't mean that what they're selling is snake oil, what they're selling genuinely works. Mostly it's like they open a window for you to snap out of your head and enter the real world and change your perspective.
Most of us have walked through life with social anxiety and have been petrified to leave the house (I was such a case). RSD totally turned this around for me, I even started going to the club ON MY OWN, SOBER... the guy who couldn't leave the house! So I'll never accept that what they're selling is fraudulent, it's a tool and people can use that tool or they can not see the tool they've been given.
That said, no the industry isn't squeaky clean. Yes, angry little men will abuse the trust of women with what they learn. But I fail to see how something can be used for so much good should be rejected by society.
Snowpiercer (2020)
Lazy
Male lead character isn't a good actor.
I am currently watching Dark, a series that cares and that tries, it's apocalyptic and the actors all have dirty horrible teeth to really set the scene.
Watching Snowpiercer however, the main character who's been in the back of a dirty train without sunlight for years has pearly white teeth. It's the little things that make a difference, Snowpiercer is lazy and trash.
