Great story that you have already seen before in so many shows and yet they still keep it fresh with attention to detail.

Just the right amount of emotion into the characters balanced against the action to keep you awake :)

Bryan comes off like a follower in the show if you know what I mean, then bam he carves his own path - which rocks and pushes the story beyond the standard vanilla flavour.

It's like watching two shows, one from the prospective of the team doing their job and the other in Bryan as he moves through the story with an altogether different beat.

In this episode - Boss lady gets into trouble, the team follows all the clues to find the bad guy and Bryan seamlessly plays the submissive, following orders while executing his own form of justice to reach his sisters killer.

I hope they keep his actions a surprise through the many adventures to come with this quality of writing and acting - a pleasure to watch guys keep it up.

The Magicians: Cheat Day (2017)
Season 2, Episode 5

Bring on Cheat Day :)
28 February 2017
Magic is back on-track with this episode in a great way but lost the humour - win some loss some.

This episode fills in a lot of little missing gaps for me with the story.

Someone has to deal with a God baby and a talking rabbit.

Penny seeks help with his new hands.

Mayakovsky the Russian is back (with some funny) and he has a plan about the magic running out because of the Well Spring's befouling - naughty Ember.

Quentin deals with mundane life by drinking.

Quentin actually does more magic in this one episode than in the whole season.

High King Eliot and Margo have to deal with a political insurgency - this is quite boring really.

Emily drives the second half of cheat day with style - opens up a whole new world of magic.

A lot of serious issues are dealt with in this one which is different, feels sort of out of place but changes the pace/mood for sure.

Oh and witches are still dumb; I mean come on, I think that is where the funny is - lol sorry but it is a repeating theme.

It's a slow day

It was hard to write a review for this one and keep it up beat. No comedy, no music and little spell use.

Spells Seen 6 Unseen 1

Dopey Julia recruits dope head Kady - yeah Marina gives it her all in this episode, short but memorable There are Centaurs and a sloth :)

Penny still carries the show. Eliot gets it on lucky guy ;) Quentin becomes the archer

The white lady is the biggest let down and not for what you think. It was the lighting - forest was too dark, we didn't get to enjoy the effort put into this unique character and the outfit - to see all the detail put into production (8) hours of work, what a pity...

The making of the White lady was better and so was the music :)

The Magicians: Divine Elimination (2017)
Season 2, Episode 3

OMG - things just got real

A good balance between story and action in the episode, loads of spell casting, great special effects and curses :)

Tough call between Martin 'The Beast' and Margo for the best one liners, looks like they swapped music for more comedy.

Penny still rules in this episode for the first half and Alice rocks it in the 2nd half. Nice to finally see other characters in the show start to shine.

All the actors did a great job in making this one awesome. Marina the vixen meets the Fox. The Fox plays his creepy role "to a T" eww...

Ember does something right for a change sort of. Alice is hot when she's angry :)

Love the little Rynaman dance/jig that Alice does; the 'blue moth' and the Harry Potter quote.

Now I want more, this finally got good again. This is what I have been waiting for.

OK now for the nit picking :-

* Witches are dumb

* All of Margo's outfits are like their from the 80's sorta out of place.

* What's up with the Star Trek style lens flare effects at the end?

* All minor wounds are healed, no marks, no scars and no blood.

* How does Penny know where to travel when it counts?

The Magicians: Hotel Spa Potions (2017)
Season 2, Episode 2

All story and no fun with this one
7 February 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Busy beginning with lots of heavy story. Penny is still funny suffering the side effects of a small curse on his hands:) Still don't know what happened to Chistopher Plover in Fillory from last season

The show has added more music into the series, this episode it is in the form of Martin 'The Beast' singing any chance he gets – first song "If Love Were All". He sings throughout this whole episode it is just plain weird – or some evil plot, time will tell?

Fillory is suffering from a lack of farming magic so Eliot the High King comes up with "the Royal" solution.

Alice and Quentin have another awkward moment.

Battle magic is on the topic of discussion at Brakebills to teach in class again, which is the only thing that can help – which is why the Dean took it off the books for 38 years, makes perfect sense...

So a previous teacher called Bigby a 500 year old Pixie hid the battle spells in the library to be used "some day" when they see reason again.

Professor (I'm hot) Pearl is recruited to help the team to find the missing spells and offers to help Penny with his particular problem and a little be more. Eliot needs a bit of stress release but Fen puts her finger down, let's go with that.

Marina runs from Julia in her quest for seeking bloody revenge on the Fox.

CacoDemon tats are on the menu to save the day (pretty cool), they are to help the team and Alice when she uses the uber "Rynaman Ultra" spell. The team go back to Fillory for some unmentioned reason?

Martin breaks out into another song called "At Long Last Love" by Cole Porter asorta sounds like Coldwater, still wondering the reason behind this – though he sings it well, episode ends.

Just a little point of note, the cigarette exchange at the end is out of sequence.

The Magicians: Knight of Crowns (2017)
Season 2, Episode 1
6/10
Wrapping up last season and setting the new
26 January 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Great opening into a forest - dark and heavy music to be let down by finding out 'god power' saved Alice which is a cheap way of saving the day – meh. A lot of glib remarks to let you know the show likes to poke fun at itself. However Penny is so funny, just walking around holding onto a box which holds his hands that he keeps looking at. Then the show basically follows a never ending list of quests to make the story move along and the dialogue is just people reacting to each situation. Julia runs around with Martin making deals and they start hunting for the Fox to seek deadly revenge on Earth.

Finally the show has introduced some music into the series at key locations which is always welcoming.

Kings & Queens are crowned, bridges are found and they go off into castle Whitespire's armoury room to win the day - which is funny. Quentin and Alice try to rekindle their love for each other sort of... a seed is planted you'll get it :) Julia and Henry talk about removing Julia's shade (pain/love center) which looks and sounds interesting. Then at the end of the show, the team have to go back to Brakebills on Earth except for Eliot who needs to stay in Filory as the High King.

This episode feels like a filler building you up to cooler stuff to come and the teaser to the next episode is why :)
