Split Review: Seasons 1 & 2 = 9
11 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Seasons 1 & 2 are engaging, interesting, entertaining and full of action. There are a few plot points that are difficult to swallow, especially the "merging" of the Klingon Voq and Star Fleet's Ash Tyler. But it's fun to watch and totally enjoyable.

Then came Season 3. It was like going from Warp 8 to 1/4 Impulse! Slow and bordering on boring, you have to power through to the last few episodes where pace picks up. One irritating thing is that Captain Burnham cries in every freaking episode. Someone is always leaving, getting promoted, falling in love or dying. She cries way too often for a Starship Captain.

I'm in Season 4 now. Now Burnham is whispering 50% of her dialogue, which is unexplained and annoying. And they have her knowing and remembering data that has nothing to do with her field of expertise. It's a little too convenient. I hope Season 5 is better.

Absolutely LOVED IT!!
17 July 2023
I don't understand the bad reviews by some people on here. I thought this was one of the best action movies I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. I love it when a movie comes along that surprises me with action sequences that are original and inspired. And this movie has them. The last sequence that takes place on a yacht will make your jaw drop (it involves magnetization of a very large object) and I guarantee it's not something you've seen before.

But this movie is also a lot of fun. The banter between the main characters is often very funny and sarcastic, as you would expect from Ryan Reynolds. Not all of their missions go as planned, giving them an opportunity to improvise and argue about whose at fault. It reminds you of an IMF mission, but much funnier and a lot less perfectly planned. It does move along pretty quickly, so you have to pay attention. Those that commented that it had no plot obviously didn't. Enjoy.

Season 3 is a Wonderful Surprise!
28 April 2023
Season 3 of Picard is wonderful. The plot is complicated and holds several surprises, but unfolds in true STNG style, keeping you interested and anxious for the next episode. The guest stars are familiar faces you will be glad to see, along with a few new faces that are exceptionally good in their roles. Amanda Plummer is a convincing sinister antagonist that makes you hate her pretty quickly. She is from a race that we haven't encountered before, and she is a suitable complement to another villain that we have. The final Episode is a perfect, completely satisfying, appropriate, and heartwarming finale to say goodbye to the Star Trek Next Generation series and cast. You will not be disappointed.

Nominated for 3 Oscars??
16 February 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand how this movie was nominated for so many awards. Olivia Colman was excellent as usual. But the script was disappointing. It kept insinuating that something tragic had happened when the main character was a young mother. But that never materialized. There's a family vacationing at the resort where she's staying, and they are menacing and threatening her for no apparent reason. No explanation ever given. And Olivia's character steals a child's doll and hides it in her apartment. Why? Again, no explanation for her behavior. The movie ends, and you're left hanging, yelling at the screen. No explanations, no closure, and you feel totally ripped off and let down. Could have been much, much better.

Jake Gyllenhaal's Best Work
16 August 2022
Wow. Just wow. 91 minutes goes by so fast that you don't even notice. The suspense starts almost immediately (around 12 minutes in) and builds and builds until you almost can't stand it. Jake Gyllenhaal's performance is incredible. He is 99% of this film. His stress, frustration, impatience and volatility increases with every passing minute. You watch as his job and his world fall apart, and he discovers that all is not what it seems to be. And, this all occurs over the phone. It reminded me of Tom Hardy's film "Locke," which I also thought was an amazing performance. Definitely worth watching!

Not My Favorite
9 August 2022
I see 9's and 10's for ratings for this movie, and I don't get it. This is my least favorite of the 4 Daniel Craig Bond movies. Every time the blonde-haired Javier Bardem comes on the screen I want to laugh. I just couldn't take him seriously. In my opinion he was not a good villain. This movie just seemed flat and I was frequently bored.

Sloowww ...
14 May 2022
At 2 hours 13 minutes this film is about 30 minutes too long. The beginning moved at a good pace, then after 30 minutes it shifted into low gear and stayed there. The love scene in the car was ridiculous and I laughed out loud. The editing is what killed this film. Too many long pauses that made you yell "Get on with it already." A good movie to go to sleep by.

SHOULD BE WATCHED BY EVERYONE
31 March 2022
Anyone who gave this a bad review totally missed the point of this movie (play). I see why this play won the Pulitzer prize for drama. It illustrates how we all look back at our youth, and possible triumphs, and paint it as much better and rosier than it was. Nothing was as perfect as it seemed, but for some, it's all they have to hold onto to give their life meaning & purpose. Also, it portrays the lengths some people will go to perpetuate a false image of happiness and perfection.

WHAT A SURPRISE!
8 March 2022
I had never heard of this movie, and while scrolling through some movies on Tubi, I came across it. I love Simon Pegg in comedies so decided to give it a shot. It is great. Don't go into it expecting a rollicking comedy. It's not that. It's funny, yes, but much more than that. The search for happiness, great symbolism, meaningful encounters, joys and sorrows, etc. This is Simon Pegg going through every emotion, and doing it so well. Well worth the time.

Jumbled Mess
5 March 2022
Absolutely terrible. A total waste of the acting talent Malick had in his care. Ruined, I am sure, by the editing process. There probably was a good story in there somewhere, but the disastrous editing made it impossible to follow, and after a short time, you didn't care.

Excellent for all Believers
23 January 2022
I have come to the conclusion that those who have given this movie bad reviews and criticized it must not be true believers in the Bible. I have been reading and studying the Bible for the past two years. This film does a good job of representing the prophecies relating to the rise of the antichrist, God's promise to protect Israel, and the Rapture. It's not intended to be a big budget action movie. Definitely worth watching if you're familiar with the Bible.

Extraordinarily Beautiful Film
14 December 2021
Everything about this film is beautiful - the locations, the sets, the cast, the script, the acting, the musical score, and the message & sentiment. Brad Pitt does an incredible job of portraying his character with words, looks, facial expressions, body language and meaningful silence. The movie is 3 hours long, but it is well worth the time, and it doesn't seem that long as you are watching it. The only criticism I have is that Claire Forlani spent too much time looking down at the ground, and seeming too quiet and introverted. She's supposed to be a doctor, but seems much too meek.

Beautiful Film
20 November 2021
This film celebrates everything that is Australia - the land, climate, culture, cattle, horses, and most importantly, the Aborigines. It shows how strong and tough the people are, and have to be in order to survive and flourish.

The treatment of the Aborigines by the British was as horrifying as their treatment of the Indians in America. Baz Luhrmann's film shines a light on that regrettable part of their history.

It's a beautiful film that has drama, action, comedy, but most of all, love. If you gave this movie a bad rating/review, then you have no heart.

Surprisingly Good and Worth the time!
16 November 2021
I don't understand the low ratings for this thriller! Yes, it is similar to Desperate Hours in that intruders keep a family hostage for money. But that's where the similarities end. All the characters have secrets, most are blatantly lying, and there are many surprises and revelations.

It, of course, is a tale about how strong a family is when they experience a crisis. But it's also a psychological drama as most of the characters are going through serious challenges in their lives that have brought them all to this moment.

No, it's not perfect, but the constant twists and turns keep you wondering just what is really happening here. The editing is crisp, the dialogue is plentiful but fast, and you're definitely not bored. I enthusiastically recommend it.

What the heck happened??
15 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love Guy Ritchie's movies, but had never seen this one. It started out fine, and was great until 3/4 of the way through, but then it took a hard turn and became something entirely different. When it ended I was disappointed, shocked and confused.

I have no idea what really happened and only had questions: Who was Mr. Gold? Was Mr. Green sick and dying or not? Why did he pass out? How did they fake the test results? Why did Avi and his partner have ill will towards Mr. Green? You are left with too many unanswered questions and a psychology lesson at the end. Very weird.

Hysterical as Usual
24 October 2021
Original title of this movie is Brides of Blood. This is your typical 60s black and white low budget horror movie replete with bad acting, silly monster costumes and brainless bimbos. But the MST3K troupe make it laugh-out-loud enjoyable.

What a joke!
3 October 2021
I had heard about this when it first came out, but had never seen it until tonight. Half of the "cases" shown were fake and staged. You could tell which were real films and which were staged. Yes, the real pictures are unsettling, but there wasn't anything I hadn't seen before. A real waste of time.

Great cast, good flick
12 September 2021
Just don't understand the bad reviews. This is far from being a bad movie. Yes, it's been done before and was a little predictable, but certainly worth watching. I agree that the worst thing about it is Spacey's wig. What were they thinking? Looked like roadkill. Dylan McDermott was a nasty bad guy, but Spacey was terribly underutilized. I think the director was the problem here.

Heart-pumping Incredible Story
9 September 2021
What these characters experience and see is horrific. Although the movie is fictional, it portrays the real violence of the ethnic cleansing experienced in several African countries. The Navy Seal team is trying to save people and get them out of the country, and they are constantly presented with no-win scenarios. The last 20 minutes is harrowing and had me yelling out loud and crying. Very emotional picture, not for the squeamish.

Tom Hardy is AMAZING!
14 August 2021
This film is decidedly different in the way it portrays the life, mind and mental decline of the main character. But it gives Hardy the opportunity to give an Oscar-worthy performance that will stun you. I don't believe that there is an actor today that can totally immerse himself in his characters as Hardy does. I am continually struck by his talent with every performance I see. This is NOT a feel good movie, but well worth the time.

Don't believe the bad reviews
11 August 2021
I liked it. It was fun, exciting and incredibly imaginative. The special effects, costumes, make up, weapons, etc. Were great. It's obvious that they were not trying to copy other movies. A lot of ingenuity went into the script, as well as the sets and gadgets. I was NOT bored. Those who wrote that the story didn't make sense were not paying attention. You need to listen to the dialog of the royal family. Their motives are not altruistic. Typical greed, selfishness and conceit. If you like sci-fi then you will enjoy this. I was pleasantly surprised. BUT, Eddie Redmayne was terrible. His voice is annoying and he whispers 98% of the time. I don't know why he was cast in this role. Big mistake. It needed a better villain.

What a Wonderful Surprise!
23 July 2021
I had never heard of this movie before tonight when I came across it on Tubi. It is absolutely wonderful and I highly recommend it. All 5 major characters are expertly played by by an incredible cast. Don't let the title throw you off. This isn't about any criminal acts, not a suspense film. It's a different view of the effects that divorce has on everyone involved.

Had a lot of potential
11 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I won't repeat what's already been said. The flashbacks were presented in a way that was confusing as to the timeline - what happened when. Also, it isn't made clear what the motivation was for Lauren Bacall's character. Why didn't she turn the package over to the police after Denny was killed? Why keep it? She didn't know the money was in the box marked summer dresses that Brian put in storage. Then at the end of the movie there's a major goof when the box is marked winter dresses. And May is surprised when she opens the box and the money is inside. This totally disagrees with the movie summary here on IMDb. So there's a few loose ends that aren't explained.

Not Swayze's Best
8 July 2021
I am beginning to think that some of these reviewers are paid to highly rate movies that don't deserve it. Anyone who rated this a 9 or 10 was either lying or high. It was ok. Not as good as Road House, Point Break or others of his.
