Lopez (2016–2017)

Strong Second Season
31 May 2017
Lopez plays himself in a show much like Entourage. The shows centers around Lopez (this show's Vincent Chase) with his gang: Manolo (Turtle) the side-kick driver, Olly the social media focused agent, and Moronzio the comedian-friend.

The first season is honestly has lots of issues. The comedy echos beats from Curb Your Enthusiasm, where Lopez plays a selfish jerk that induce moments of cringe or laughter, but isn't done as nearly as well Curb.

However, the second season and near the end of season one the show gets much better. The characters start to show more depth that they aren't these people around each other for the sake of convenience, but they have some actual warmth for each other. George's character softens, so, he isn't so unlike-able. The plot lines also get better by adding more current events around the entertainment industry and add interesting side-characters that help create interesting situations like Hector, Olly's sister, and Coco.

The shows also promotes ideas of diversity in a way that isn't preachy, but more real which is a real feat. The review score would be higher, if not for pretty weak first season. Otherwise, the show seems to be getting better and better, lets hope they can sustain it.

Surprisingly solid.

Joe Mac, playing himself, fresh off his stint from Dancing with the Stars wants to shows his chops as a real actor. His dream is to be in a detective drama on quality network HBO, but gets offered talk show from no name cable network, Comfy.

The acting at times can be questionable. The strength of the show is its writing. The plot-lines are outrageous, but built around realistic characters and personalities surrounding the entertainment industry. The story has an actual progression. Story elements build upon each other from episode to episode.

Great series. If you 'The Guild,' fantasy, RPGs, DnD, or nerd culture in general. This series will be right up your alley. If none of those things, sound great... well, this probably isn't your cup of tea.

The basic premise is a group of friends who fantasy live action role play. The acting is pretty good. Every actor really gets into their role. I really like how the GM plays convincing NPCs. He's really good at changing his voice to fit the character, he plays. The other characters are also interesting as well. The series gets better with each episode. Season two definitely raises the bar compared to season one on every level (plot, effects, budget, and bigger cast). If you like fantasy stuff, give it a shot.
