Amazing anime worthy of a top 20 spot.
27 September 2019
Having watched this for the second time through, I can safely say that this is the second best anime that I've ever watched (coming in close behind death note).

It has the perfect blend of comedy, seriousness, heartfelt moments and truly epic moments. The depth of the questions asked in this masterpiece are staggering as they take on questions of god, power, human sin, morales and ethics, governance and manipulation life and death, the list goes on. There are very few shows that go as deep as this very special anime does.

The character progression is executed to perfection with characters growing and changing throughout the entire show right before your very eyes, inverting there tendencies for wrong doing and growing out of them through a combination of love, common enemies and understanding of one another. The endings to all the characters feel satisfying and well deserved.

The plot twists and turns amazingly and always has you on your toes wondering what's going to happen next or how the brothers and there associates are going to get out of the sticky situations they get themselves into. Although outlandish the twists are never too much or too far fetched (considering how fantasy driven the whole series is in the first place) and always leaves me with a smile on how clever or how dastardly the plot twist was.

If I had to pick one fault with the show it would be the first 10 episodes. Although intriguing and necessary for character development, I believe that they build too slowly and go off on pointless tangents that are unnecessary and take away from the overarching and most interesting plot line.

To summarise, if you consider yourself a fan of anime, tv or film In general, then this is an absolute must see. It truly is a masterpiece worthy of all the praise and adoration that it gets.

Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
Season 8, Episode 5
4/10
How can they end it like this...
13 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I am bitterly disappointed in the last season of game of thrones. This episode just sums up perfectly how wrong the writers got it.

So let's start with tyrion. He throughout the season has expressed concern about dany as has Varys so at the first chance he gets tyrion betrays Varys for what? Varys was someone who he could talk to and trust and share the burden of dany with but he stabs him in the back. This to me makes no sense and again the writers have ruined a brilliant character in tyrion by turning him into a fool. Also lets not forget how ridiculously easy it was for tyrion to release Jamie and how unrealistic this is.

Next let's talk about Jamie. One of if not my favourite character. Let's talk about how the writers have butchered his end. He deserved more than to go back to cersi crying and feeling all sorry for her. His character had changed from a person who was blinded by love and pride to a more humble and righteous man and to see him go back to kings landing and do absolutely nothing is just such a shame. He had potential to be amazing and crucial and instead fell flat. The bit with euron (I think that's his name) where they fight was just so stupid and unnecessary. As if they would just so happen to wash up on the shore and why would euron want to kill him? There is no reason to. just another throw away scene.

Next is Jon. How can he act shocked? He knows the mental state dany is in. Everyone does so why is he so shocked when she goes mad and decides to kill everyone? I mean dany kills Varys just because he knows the truth and believes that she is going mad. And she is! And everyone knows it especially Jon. He has become just another stupid character who shirks at responsibility for no reason other than 'ohh I just don't want the throne' if ned could see Jon now he would be ashamed. Jon should have stepped up to the plate long ago. He knows what dany is and will become he could have stopped all this death long ago and he should have but the writers have just wasted his character. He will eventually I guess but it's just not going how it should.

i think the only character they got right was the hound. The way he went out was brilliant. Fighting his arch enemy and brother the mountain. Truly breathtaking scenes whenever the hound was on screen and the part where arya last sees the hound was wonderful.

Along with that there were a few more good and scenes like the final encounter with tyrion and Jamie which was touching and brought a tear to my eye and the part where the Lannister men threw there swords down only for dany to begin the slaughter again and the fight was back on and a wave of unsullied and north men charged. Those bits where good and of course the special effects and visuals were stunning which is why I'm not rating this a 4 but a 6 but apart from that i found this episode and this series really disappointing.

Rant over.

Decent but fails in too many aspects.

To summarise this film I would say that it builds slowly and leads into nothing much. There are some powerful scenes in this film where I felt genuinely moved and concerned for the characters in the film but as a whole I found this film to be very stereotypical and misleading.

Firstly, the way that the police are portrayed in this film suggest that every police officer is a Brutal racist with 0 empathy or compassion. I found it very distasteful on how it never showed the otherside of how these situations affect the police officer that is involved in a case like this. When this is brought up by a young white girl, she is seen to be the bad guy for suggesting that the cop and his family are also going through hell because of the shooting of the young black man.

Another negative was how the entire film was about how black people matter and there lives matter but never about equality. Slight spoiler here. There is a scene where the young black girl that is the main character brings her boyfriend back to meet her father. The father proceeds to be rude and disrespectful to the young white boy for no other reason than because of his race. If this isn't racism then I don't know what is. This completely tantes anything the father says because we know that a small part of his motivations includes him being racist towards white people. This theme of misrepresenting white people was common throughout the film and I rather felt like I was watching a black lives matter propaganda film. Some parts genuinely infuriated me.

Also a shorter negative here was how the film seemed to drag moments out that could be made much shorter and to the point which would have gave the film more pace and punch in delivering its message to the audience.

Although there were many negatives I couldn't help but to become involved in the film and the characters. There were scenes that were moving. One of the final scenes where there is a riot on the street and starr (the main character) jumps up on the van and finally realised the power she has and finds her voice was very moving and made the hairs on my neck stand up. There were moments like this scattered through the film which is why I have rated this a 5 and not a 4.

The film also delivered some occasional funny moments and one moment where the whole cinema erupted in laughter, although, some of the 'funny' parts were just so cringeworthy it hurt my skin.

All in all this was a film that I will not see again due to its mediocreness and it's infuriating stereotyping.

Truly dreadful

God this film was so bad. I watched it with my little sister who is 13 and she liked. I'm 20 so obviously I have a more mature and better understanding of what makes a film good or bad. After watching this film I felt compelled to write this just to say that this was possibly the worst film I have ever watched. The acting was so poor it made me cringe on several occasions. The storyline is very dull and mind numbing how obvious the direction of the film is going, if you watch the trailer you already understand exactly what the story is and it's easy to tell how it ends. I won't leave any spoilers but just watch it and take a guess. The scenes chop and change and jump around ridiculously and make absolutely no sense whatsoever. This feels like a high school drama project made by mediocre students with rich parents. I can not believe how bad this film truly is. I would say I was disappointed but when has Logan Paul ever done anything of any worth at all?
