Hawaii Five-0: Aloha (2020)
Season 10, Episode 22

Sad but happy
9 December 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The darn coronavirus messed up the final episodes of my FAVORITE television show EVER! I'm sure they had to rush the story to get production done before the shutdown happened. I think they could have used a couple more episodes just to tie up loose ends. I would have loved a few more seasons, especially with the edition of Quinn and Lance. They could have had Steve go away for a few months and come back with Catherine wearing the engagement ring - FINALLY. That's how I had envisioned the series ending. I'm so happy they were able to get Michelle Borth to reprise her role as Catherine Rollins. I couldn't have handled it ending any other way...except for a surprise, it's NOT ending, but that didn't happen. Steve telling everyone goodbye had me in tears. Catherine showing up at the airport, that made the tears happier but still, my Fridays have been spent with Steve and Danno for years. (It had previously been on Monday nights.) Mahalo for 10 years of excellence, excitement, lots of laughter and quite a few tears (Steve's dad's death, Aunt Deb's death, Doris's death, Joe White's death, just to name a few). Aloha. (See you on CBS All Access!!)

Hawaii Five-0: Ka 'i'o (2019)
Season 10, Episode 7

Much Needed Ending
9 December 2020
The storyline with Doris, Steve's mother, really needed to be tidied up and it's great that it was Steve's portrayer, Alex O'Loughlin, who wrote and directed the episode. Writing this after knowing the series ended after this season, and knowing HOW it ended, it's especially moving. Steve lost a lot of family during his 10 years back in Hawaii beginning with his father and ending with his mother. He's also recently lost his Aunt Deb and his surrogate father, Joe White. He only has his sister and her adopted daughter, Joanie. Poor Steve had to grieve his mother's death twice: once as a young boy and once as an adult. Danny has become a surrogate brother to him, just as Steve became Danny's surrogate brother after his own brother's murder.

This show has been great since day one and should have gotten more critical attention for its acting, especially Alex's acting. He does comedy and drama with ease. I'm already missing my Five-0 Friday dates with Steve and Danno. Thanks for 10 years of exceptional television. Mahalo.
