This movie was in no way shape or form anywhere near as bad as described by 99.9% of reviewers on IMDb. Now is this movie great? No. Is there better? Well, yeah, much better. But (now this is the true question) is this (or among) the worst? After finally watching this movie last night on a pay channel for $3.99 I can honestly answer no. It's not the worst. Maybe nearing the area of the worst but for the most part it was a fairly entertaining, kinda psychological, horror/thriller. The added plot twist is rather obvious IF you're looking for it. I was just obliviously watching it not looking for it so when it came I was kinda surprised. Then kicked myself for not realizing it anyway but you can't have everything. The setting is perfect, what kind of movie that takes place completely in a mental hospital not at least somewhat good? Now throw in the Grim Reaper stalking a bunch of kids throughout the facility and you've got an added 30% of excitement. Could the Grim Reaper (the actual character) have been better? No because it was thee Grim Reaper. Cloak, hood, the whole 9 yards. Could the movie have been better? Yeah, they could have had the title character in it much more. He had very little screen time, although the time he had was pretty interesting. Never really boring or slow. Just the anticipation of seeing the Grim Reaper might make this film seem a little slower than what it is. A very deserved and earned 7 outta 10.

Creepshow has got to be one of the best movies that contain multiple short stories. It's only downfall, I think, was The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill, the only comical story in this series of horror stories. The rest of the stories couldn't be better. My favorite was Father's Day and then They're Creeping up on You. I loved E.G. Marshall as Upson Pratt. The Crate creature was done with well design and actually looked very of similar to the one in the (comic) book. Aside from the fact that it had a real crappy sequel and now even a really bad 3rd installment (why don't these people just stop already?), Creepshow has real talent. From the actors to the ghouls that terrify them, Creepshoe has real class. You don't see movies like this anymore. Thank GOD the sequel didn't bring this original great piece of film goodness down with it like so many others. Can anyone say 'A Nightmare on Elm Street? Perhaps 'Friday the 13th? people have the tendency to only see the sequel or one of the sequels to a movie and if it sucks they have no interest in seeing the original. the original Creepshow has an ensambled cast of very well know and established actors. In Creepshow 2 I had no idea who I was watching, with the exception Stephen King as a truck driver in the story 'The Hitchhiker'. I just can't believe Stephen King would honestly be a part of this mess. Unbelievable. But if you are a true fan of horror, Creepshow is your movie. If you just want something FUN to watch, Creepshow is your movie. It you want to be entertained until the very end, (guess what?) Creepshow is your movie. Lined with great characters such as Leslie Nielson (in a serious roll), E.G. Marshall, Adrienne Barbeau, Hal Holbrook, Ted Danson, and even Stephen King, Creepshow is pure entertainment right down to the very end. And the cartoon skeleton was pretty neat too.

Despite all the corny, stylized action sequences Wasabi isn't all that bad IF you can get past the Godzilla-type talking which consists of the peoples mouths moving but you can tell they're really speaking in a different language. The movie had some nice weapons carried by Jean Reno's character Hubert Fiorentini, France's toughest detective. A .44 Magnum (I believe) in the beginning when he foiled a bank robbery which was nothing more than a bunch of homosexual cross-dressing men with a hostage and a button to detonate a bomb linked to the hostage, and a Taurus Raging Bull, the longer revolver that he carries through most of the film. He uses it in a gunfight at a dance arcade. And getting back to the bank heist, which has got to be one of the goofiest heists I EVER seen. Sure I like Jean Reno and believe it or not this is my favorite Jean Reno film (The Professional aka: Leon the Professional being my second) but that does not excuse that bank heist. You have a handful of cross-dressing homos armed with a hostage, a button bomb and a bomb wired to the hostage. Reno comes in, drops his gun at the mister sister's orders, BUT starts to walk toward them. Despite the warnings to stop or the hostage will be blown to little bits he still heads towards them. When he stops in front of homo #1 (the one with the hostage and the bomb detonator) he holds up two uncrossed wires and we see homo #1 push the button several times and realize the bomb has been disarmed. He then kicks this weirdo in the crotch sending him flying through the air like some kind of bad Matrix stunt and he then lands sitting on top of a file cabinet screaming. You have got to see this movie. If for no other reason, see it for this goofy bank heist scene. It will leave you saying what the hell was the director thinking and WOW! Did that just happen? Truly a scene to see. But as far as everything else the movie, the characters, and glamorous Japanese places it was about an average movie. Not nearly as much as action as you'd expect from viewing the trailer or seeing the box but it's still a pretty fair movie. The dialog gets a little slow sometimes, but as far as the foreign language speaking people with the English speak over, I'd still recommend this over any Godzilla movie.

When I first saw this movie on Encore's Mystery channel I had no clue who Cybill Shepherd was. I was impressed though as Cybill made her way through Stormy Weathers as Sam (Samantha) Weathers, a private investigator for Weathers and Weathers investigation. Weathers and Weathers consist of Sam, the other Weathers is her dead dad, and she just kept the business and obviously the title. Everything in this movie fits not only Cybill, but her character right down to a science. From her men's clothing right down to her little hammerless revolver pistol, it all screams Sam Weathers. I was shocked when I found out it didn't make it to a series. It was rumored that Stormy Weathers was suppose to be a pilot for Cybill in her own crime drama series called Stormy. It was apparently just a rumor, or the pilot (Stormy Weathers) took it nowhere. But this movie has all the elements of a good, at least decent, crime drama. You have the investigator, (a female- which there were only a couple to begin with- Stormy Weathers for one and Kathleen Turner in V.I. Warshawski are the only ones who come to mind) a decent plot, a couple chase scenes, good fighting scenes (Sam knows karate), characters that actually look and act like they belong in a crime drama, and, when the plot unfolds it's not confusing. You find on the contraire it's very entertaining. 10 outta 10 for the movie, double that for Cybill.

Dark Asylum has got to be one of the best thrillers I've seen… EVER. It's all too real making it believable, making it all the scarier. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to see a nail-biting thriller. This film concerns a female psychiatrist (played by Paulina Porizkova) who becomes locked in an abandoned asylum with a killer (played by Larry Drake) running loose. Her only help is the janitor (played by Judd Nelson) who is in fact a forgotten asylum inmate. The two run through all the corridors in the asylum, including the ceiling, to avoid this madman who desperately intends to find them and a way out. Tense suspense and well worth 96 minutes of your time. If you still feel iffy, at least rent it. Because after you watch it for the first time it will leave you in engrossing suspense and you'll soon want to add it to your collection.
