The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017)
The meaning of uncomfortable
The music of this film marks the tension of the events to the point where it destroys you a bit, the bombast and titanicity with which it sounds is one of the greatest tools of the atmosphere of this film
As with Lost Highway, here is a director with a clear vision who knows very well how to handle the performances so that they are according to his way of thinking about the story, Colin Farrell is one of the most underrated actors of today and his austerity is clear reflection of a creator who knows what he is doing and who he is directing.
The photography manages to be intimate as well as bombastic, they show us an overwhelming space that surrounds the characters to represent their internal struggle against a place and position that oppresses them and forces them to push themselves to the limit.
All the concepts previously said and explained are the three fundamental pillars that manage to make this movie one of the most uncomfortable I have seen, and I add the story as a fourth pillar since it details a disgusting, disturbing and quite dense situation.
Conclusion: The killing of a sacred deer is a very good movie that pushes both the characters and the viewer to the limit.
Lady Bird (2017)
A sincere film
THE GOOD
The story is an adolescence told from within, which brings out an identifiable and relatable realism, in addition to encompassing global issues (something that always happens in cinema so stagnant in experience), examples: the search for identity that leads to decisions egotistical, the constant pseudo-justification of the stubborn adolescent and the person in relation to a context that oppresses him / her.
Saoirse Ronan is one of the greatest promises of the 2010s and this film shows us why, stands out above all for her rudeness on stage and her body language that increase the internal logic of her character, even in scenes that contradict herself or he's acting foolish, it's clear he's part of his character, and without Ronan's performance the character might have just seemed annoying.
The story has to tell two and a half years of a person's life both externally and internally and thanks to the rhythm everything is condensed very well in just an hour and a half, human interactions take their time to be created and they again take time to be finalized while the script intersperses scenarios and situations in a way that passes lightly through the viewer's eyes.
THE BAD
In the first 15 minutes I felt that Lady Bird was not well planned, the interactions were unnatural and the script was extremely unsubtle, but after the protagonist entered the theater everything began to flow much better and in the technical aspect also saw an improvement, but that does not mean that the beginning does not do justice to the development or the end.
CONCLUSION
Lady Bird is a very respectable good film for narrating from experiences and for knowing how to dilute its story.
Glass (2019)
Underrated
I think we all know that this movie has serious problems of logic, but I think the reviews are fixed only on the bad things of the film, James Mcavoy provides a great performance, and Samuel L. Jackson makes glass remains an interesting character, but bruce willis is the real problem, unfortunately it is not up to the other two protagonists, but in my opinion most of the film's problems are fixed with the revelation of the glass plan at the end of the film.
In conclusion it is an enjoyable movie, with its faults no doubt, but good after all.
Watchmen (2009)
A bad movie with good scenes
It is difficult to say if it is a good or a bad movie, since it has so many good things as bad, but I think that bad things are much more powerful than good ones, Watchmen gives a poor reflection of the main theme of the comic which is what would happen with the superheroes in the real world, instead of showing it in an innovative way, they decide to copy exactly everything they do in the comic, and this does not only happen with the themes that they play, but also in the action and the script, they just copy what the original work did, what could be rescued from the film are the performances of jackie earle haley as rorschach and jeffrey dean morgan as the comedian, the performances of these two seem out of the comic, but not in the bad sense as with the script and action, if this were the only thing that could be said of the movie would be an acceptable film, but the big mistake that zack snyder made was to try to adapt ALL the comic in only one movie, and although this lasts two hours the original story is too complex, it would have taken about 3 films to adapt the plot well, but shortening it in only two and a half hours is like a lot of events that do not lead anywhere, anyway, if you see this movie without haberte I read the comic probably does not seem at all bad, but if you're a fan of the comic as I, probably notice these errors.
PD:This is my first review, if there is a spelling mistake it is because I am translating this from Spanish to English, because I am from Chile
PD2:this is just my opinion, not an absolute truth, thanks for giving you the time to read everything
