Yes, I Do (2018 TV Movie)

Jen Lilley deserves better
6 July 2018
Disclaimer: I am the consummate Jen Lilley fan.

I felt bad for Jen Lilley and the other actors/actresses. This movie was a flop not because of them but because of a poor script and story line. The premise of the story was a woman (Jen Lilley) who had twice left her fiance at the alter and was trying for the hat trick. I actually watched this movie twice, thinking maybe it was me because Lilley, in particular, is tailor made for these Hallmark Movies. Sadly, my 2nd viewing was no better. Surely, the writers can do better than this.

Brick is The Man!
11 February 2018
The Brickster! Brick is the goofball character that makes The Middle worth watching. You gotta love his amusing idiosynchrosies like looking down at his feet and repeating some key word or phrase from his last sentence or looking up in the air sporadically and saying "Whoop". Of course, Brick has no real friends ("Books are my friends", he says) and is a supposed genius.

The Reverend Tim Tom is another unusual goofball who travels around with a guitar playing sophomoric songs that contain important life lessons.

Sue Sue, the daughter, with her giant braces has the worst luck in the world but somehow always remains optimistic.

Axl, the oldest son, (what kinds of parents name their kids Brick, Axl and Sue Sue, anyway?) is the family slacker.

All in all, The Middle is a pleasant, but quirky, sitcom that can hold your interest when there's not much else to do. That might sound like a backhanded compliment but compared to most of the trash that is on television these days this show is top notch!

The Christmas Cottage (2017 TV Movie)
8/10
Pleasant and enjoyable
15 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Yes, it was Hallmark's same tried and true formula, but you know that before watching in most cases. In this instance, Merritt Patterson is the hotshot designer who left her small home town for a designing job in the big city. Upon returning home, she almost immediately runs into her old boyfriend. Her past feelings soon return as does her yearning for the small town life she had in the past but she is tied to her big city boyfriend. After spending a snowbound night in a "magical" cottage, the two old flames reunite for another happy Hallmark ending.

Some actors/actresses just seem to be cut out for casting in these Hallmark feel good movies and this time it's Merritt Patterson. At least in my opinion, Merritt and Jen Lilley are perfectly cast in these roles and are extremely likable, resulting in an enjoyable movie, albeit with the same old premise.

Harvest Love (2017 TV Movie)

Bland and unimaginative fare
1 October 2017
Warning: Spoilers
When you watch a Hallmark movie you have to accept the fact that it's going to be a wholesome, feel good movie and not much else. There is nothing wrong with that and being a big Jen Lilley fan I tuned in with some anticipation.

Luna(Jen Lilley)..."Luna"? What kind of name is that for a human being outside of Star Trek?...plays the role of an up and coming Seattle surgeon who has been recently widowed. She returns home to help with her family's burgeoning pear orchard. Only intending to stay briefly, she falls in love with small town life style and the pear ranch's handy man and decides to stay permanently.(Realistic?)

Not much of a plot here and very few, if any, unexpected twists and turns. Even the engaging and charming personality of Jen Lilley couldn't save this one.

Predictable, but pleasant
26 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Disclaimer: I am a big Jen Lilley fan.

This is the kind of movie and role that sweet and charming Jen Lilley thrives in. As usual per Hallmark movies the hero/heroine moves back home after having located to the big city and success. This time it's Jen Lilley who returns home only to find her high school sweetheart involved with a mean, glamorous rival.

Naturally, after 2 long hours of plotting and scheming with help Jen Lilley and her high school sweet heart get back together again as Dan, her high school boyfriend finally comes to his senses and realizes the mean Kristi is totally wrong for him. After all, he's a dog lover and she's a dog hater.

Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner make an interesting love interest in themselves. All in all, a pleasant, predictable movie that all Jen Lilley fans with enjoy.

Blended (2014)

One of Adam Sandler's better films
23 April 2017
I had never been much of an Adam Sandler film fan. Most of his earlier films seemed sophomoric and I didn't care for them. Blended, however, is pretty well done.

There appears to be an on screen chemistry between Sandler and Drew Barrymore, although she has vehemently denied it. The story line, while humorous, has a romantic appeal to it. Two people who don't like each other at all, come together at the end with the help of their children.

I was especially impressed with the performance by a young Bella Thorne. I hadn't seen her before.

A Timeless Movie !
20 March 2017
One of the very best movies ever produced. Wesley Snipes was superb as gangsta Nino Brown as was Alan Payne as G-Money, Nino Brown's side-kick. In fact, the entire movie was wonderfully cast.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the movie delivers an important message...yet at the same time it is riveting and hilarious at the same time. There are many politically incorrect racial and ethic slurs tossed about so the sensitive viewers may want to beware.

Non-stop action that is marvelously delivered by all the actors and actresses. This movie has been described as a sort of Gone With The Wind for the Gangsta population and a break through film for Wesley Snipes.

I was grossly disappointed
20 March 2017
I anxiously had awaited the completion of this film for years, only to come away wondering what happened. The original Wall Street was one of the most engrossing movies I have ever seen; this was one of the least.

The entire film was horribly miscast. Shia LeBouf is hardly the epitome of a Wall Street corporate raider and definitely not threatening. Michael Douglas' role was grotesquely muted and not what I had hoped for...or expected from Oliver Stone. The only character who seemed to be properly cast was James Brolin.

The plot was thin and underdeveloped. Of course, I am comparing it to the original Wall Street which may be unfair. Like most sequels, this one largely disappointed and under delivered. I felt it was one of Oliver Stone's poorest films to date.

At least Michael Douglas has a handful of good quotes to remember.

An average and disappointing film
25 February 2017
Given all the high priced stars appearing in this movie, I found it to be on the disappointing side. Of course, I was never a big Demi Moore fan, but she does a fair job in this standard flick. Burt Reynolds could have been a little better, too. Armando Assante had his usual very solid performance. Stephanie Schick appearing as Pandora Peaks provided a little eye candy. I did find many parts of the movie mildly amusing which helped pass the time.

A Dash of Love (2017 TV Movie)

Very topical and enjoyable film
25 February 2017
I initially tuned in to watch the movie without much hope it would be anything more than the usual Valentine's Day drivel. I was pleasantly surprised, especially by the very solid performance by Jen Lilley. This was her best performance to date, in my opinion. Other performances by other actors was acceptable but nothing outstanding. Nevertheless, I found the movie quite pleasing and fun to watch.

The story line is pretty ordinary and Brendan Penny, who has the male lead, is nothing special but Jen Lilley is both charming and delightful, making this movie a worthwhile watch.

Eh....it was alright.
24 February 2017
I didn't particularly like this movie. Dimwitted athletes don't especially interest me. I realize many liked it, but there is no accounting for the public's taste. I generally enjoy most sports movies, too. I realize that this wasn't a pure sports movie, but I just couldn't get into it. The music irritated me, too. I can't believe they are still playing that annoying music.
