Kôkyô shihen Eureka Sebun: Substance Abuse (2005)
Wow
I usually don't write reviews, but everything that happens in this episode is insane. You're thrown for such a loop with Holland, at first the episode makes you think that he's being immature and trying to run away from his responsiblities (and from taking care of Eureka), something that isn't helped by him constantly lashing out at Renton, yet by the end you realize he's been doing the complete opposite. This is something that we knew before, but this episode defines that more than ever. Most of all though, the way this episode ends with Renton going in to rescue Holland (despite being forbidden to pilot the Nirvash), which ends up escalating into him having a mental breakdown after constantly messing up so much, and rampaging through all the enemy soldiers, left me dumbfounded. The imagery of the dead soldier's mangled arm at the end especially left me with the exact sense of dread the show was going for, and that rarely happens to me.
I'm going to watch the next episode right now, can't wait to see how they follow this up.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (2023)
Why is this getting such bad reviews?
I don't get why critics are being so hard on this movie, I think it's one of the best Transformers movies in the whole franchise. The human characters are a lot better here than in any of the other movies, and some of the new Transformers are decently developed. Only issue I can see some people having is the pacing towards the third and maybe second act being a little too fast, and the final fight has some plot conveniences, one of which did bother me a little tbh, but apart from that it doesn't have that many issues. The fact alone that this movie can actually be funny at times, and it doesn't use that weird forced humor from the Michael Bay ones, already makes it better.
Gekijô ban Tengen toppa guren ragan: Ragan hen (2009)
Improves on the series a lot!
This movie, in my opinion, fixes the biggest problem I had in the anime, which is an element of the ending. It focuses a little more on this, and thus makes it feel far more earned.
Apart from that, we get to see even cooler and longer fights than what we saw in the episodes that this movie adapts, which now feel rushed when compared to how they're executed here. I was really surprised with how much they changed in this movie as well, there's quite a few scenes that play out very different to the anime.
The one issue I'd say I have is that Rossiu doesn't have as much development here, but if you watched the anime you don't really need to see it again, as you 'd know why he's the way he is.
Overall though, I think it's an improvement over the original. It has longer and better fight scenes, even cooler mechas and an ending that feels much, much more earned in my opinion ^^
One Piece: Wan pîsu: A Fist of Divine Speed! Another Gear Four Application Activated! (2019)
Best-looking fight in the series
It's got some of, if not the best animation out of all the episodes so far. I wish every episode looked as good as this one, at this point it deserves to.
