IMDbrief: Is 'The Batman' Logo a Deadly Reminder? (2020)
Reeves is a hack director, this movie already sucks.
How absolutely stupid. First of all Batman's parents were killed with a revolver so having a semi-automatic mounted on Batman's chest is stupid. Secondly, more importantly, Bruce Wayne trained for many many years to become Batman, he was obsessed with it to the point where he trained to physical perfection. In this terrible movie, Reeves has cast someone extremely physically inadequate to be the Batman, so Batman is going to wear a stupid looking armor to try to hide the fact that he is in no way shape or form a believable Batman. Do you think you are fooling the fans? All you are doing is insulting them. Fans are tired of terrible body suits and armors to make up for terrible casting. How stupid are directors? I don't care if he's the second coming of Laurence Olivier, he is physically inadequate for the role. This movie is ruined before it even starts, it doesn't matter what Reeves tries to do at this point. Fans are already disappointed. Reeves is a hack director who has a mediocre resume, he is in no way shape or form qualified to do a Batman movie and he has shown that by the way he is already screwing it up. I saw in an article that he is a protege of JJ Abrams. They are both absolute hacks. Abrams has screwed up Star Wars and Star Trek so badly he should never be allowed to direct another movie in his entire life. I don't know who Abrams blackmailed to get a job in Hollywood he absolutely does not know how to direct a movie and if Reeves is a protege of his, then anybody looking for a good director should run away from him too. Every subsequent series of Batman movies from the first Tim Burton movie was an Improvement. The Zack Snyder movie suffered from a script that was a mash-up of two comic book stories instead of an original script, but visually, the Zack Snyder movies were spot on. It was the first time the true Spirit of the Batman from the comic books came alive on a movie screen. This farce is a gigantic step backwards. All this stupid movie is going to do is make fans wait at least a few more years for the chance at a good Batman movie.
The Best of Enemies (2019)
Entertaining, but how accurate is it?
While the movie is entertaining, too often movies "based on true events" can be hollywood-ized, glossing over or ignoring some important aspects of history, playing up others, and even inserting certain aspects of current events that did not exist when the actual events took place. While the film demonstrates the racism that took place in the South during the civil rights struggle, it ignores the important fact that the Democrats were the ones responsible for that racism and the KKK. How do you learn from history when you do not accurately portray it?
Red Dragon (2002)
No Comparison
I find it odd that both movies based on the same book have the same rating of 7.2 - Manhunter is a far superior movie. The stories are basically the same, but Manhunter plays out in a much more suspenseful and interesting manner. Micheal Mann did a much better job of directing and the acting in Manhunter is a lot more believable, while the acting in Red Dragon is atrocious. The actors in Red Dragon seem like they are sleepwalking through the movie and doing little more than reading their lines. Brian Cox was a much more believable Hannibal Lecter while Anthony Hopkins portrayed him like he was a cartoon character, amplifying the falseness of the character from The Silence of the Lambs. The ending of Manhunter was much better also, even though it deviates from the book more than Red Dragon does. If you want to see the best portrayal of this story on film, see Manhunter.
