May be some spoilers if you haven't read any reviews at all. First, I am clueless in general about Indian films. This one had a nice review so thought I would broaden my background a bit. Mission accomplished on that score as I did not know that at least some aspects of some Indian culture involved a religious basis for not using indoor sanitation facilities. This movie took this one fact, added some some complex love interest, family dynamics and mixed in political corruption, religious festivals and views of village life to deliver a very interesting movie.
Wish the subtitles were more carefully placed--with some backgrounds they could hardly be read. Also wish I had an Indian friend with me to explain some of the customs we viewed and acronyms, E.G. "LOTA parties".
The acting was great in my opinion, particularly liked his brother, his father, and of course his wife.
Found his conduct during the early parts of the film, with the love sick behavior a bit tough to believe coming from a 36 year old man. The musical portions were not my favorite parts in general actually.
It was quite long compared to most films we see here.
All in all. Glad I went.
