Om Shanti Om (2007)
Good Enough
The Bollywood Genre is a genre where the audience gets thrilled by seeing great sets, good music, dance, lots of stars. You shouldn't think much about the principles of continuity when you're watching this genre as it is basically made for the entertainment of general people and not for film critics and professors. This movie had everything what a Bollywood movie should have and this clearly defines the Bollywood Genre.
Usual fantastic acting by Shah Rukh Khan. Special Mention for Shreyas Talpade and Arjun Rampal. Good performance by Deepika Paadukone. I thought that the costume and styling department did a wonderful job in the movie. I've given it a 7 star because the first half wasn't that interesting but as soon as the OK reincarnation appeared in the second half, it became entertaining. The highlight of the movie was the background score which I felt was super. It had the haunting emotional romantic element, but the best part of the movie were the two songs, one which featured all the big superstars of Bollywood and the other the sensational track Dard - E - Disco.
All in all one should watch it at least once in the theaters.
The Departed (2006)
Scorsese is GreaT.
The movie is awesome. Great Movie. First credit goes to Felix Chong and Siu Fai Mak for writing an excellent screenplay. This is a complicated story to tell on screen. I don't think anyone can beat Martin Scorsese in Directing after seeing this movie. He deserves an Oscar for best director for this movie hands down. Cinematography was superb. Acting performances were great. Scorsese's favorite Leo DiCaprio displayed another acting masterpiece. Matt Damon and Mark Whalberg too. Although I thought that Jack Nicholson was not in his best especially in the scene where he suspects Leo while sitting in the restaurant. Although Leo and Martin have done tremendous work in the past, they've been nominated too for Oscars but the time has come that both artistes get their well deserved Oscars for this movie.
Rang De Basanti (2006)
Contender For The Oscars
Arguably The Best Indian Movie With Amazing Script, Direction, Editing, Dialogues, Acting And Mainly The Innovative Storyline.
This For Me Is The Official Selection So Far For The Oscars.
Not To Be Missed Movie For Every Indian And A Great Movie To Study On For Film Students. This Is Actually How A Movie Should Be Made.
This Movie Emphasises On So Many Aspects Without Any Flaw In The Script And Screenplay Which A Rare Group Of Directors Are Able To Portray On Screen.
This Movie Shows The Trouble Of Indian Politics, The Mentality Of Indian Youth In The 21st Century, The Difficulties To Make A Documentary, The Fear Of Entering The Competitive World But The Best Part Of The Movie Was The Editing, Direction, Acting And Most Inportantly The Storyline.
The Way The Director Has Managed To Create A Transition Between The Indian Youth Who Struggled During The Freedom Fight And The New Age Indian Youth Who Are Struggling Against The Corruptness Of The Government Is Amazing.
All The Actor's Did Justice To Their Characters Especially The British Girl Who Was Able To Show Great Emotions Which Other Overseas Actresses Have Failed To Show In Bollywood Movies With The Exception Of Lagaan.
A Must Watch Movie No Matter Who You Are.
Congratulations To The Whole Rang De Basanti Team To Create Such A Rare Magnum Opus In Indian Cinema.
Family: Ties of Blood (2006)
Exceptional Bad Movie By The Great Director
Rajkumar Santoshi Without Any Doubt Has Directed The Greatest Movies And Biggest Box Office Hits Of Indian Cinema.
This Movie Falls Short Of All Expectations As This Movie Stars Two Great Actors Mr. Amitabh Bachchan And Akshay Kumar And When You Have These Two Actors In The Same Movie You Have To Make A Magnum Opus.
In The Later Part Of The Movie You Can Make Out That Amitabh Bachchan's Voice Has Been Dubbed By Some Other Person Which Was Due To His Illness.
Still The Movie Did'nt Had Proper Character Development Plus Cinematography Was'nt Good Too And One Thing That Bollywood Should Learn Is That They Should Use Visual Effects Only When It Is Needed And When Applied Should Be Done With A High Budget. The Script Had So Many Flaws Which Gives The Viewer Excuses To Attend His Phone Calls Rather Than Watching The Movie.
The New Comer Shakes The Leg Well But Could Not Act Well But Where The Movie Loses Big Time Is The Storyline Screenplay And Cinematography.
A Talented Actor Like Bhoomika Chawla Has Been Wasted In The Movie As Well As Sushant Singh.
But Every Director Once In A While In His Career Makes A Bad Film.
So Watch It Only If You Are A Fan Of Multi-Starrer Flop Movies.
No Entry (2005)
The Best Comedy In Modern Indian Cinema
No Entry Directed By Aneez Bazmee Is The Best Comedy Feature Film In Modern Indian Cinema Alongwith Hera Pheri. The Actor's Did A Splendid Job With Fardeen Khan Falling Little Short Than Others While Lara Dutta Over Acted In Some Scenes But All In All A Very Funny Movie With Good Screenplay And Awesome Cinematography By The Great Indian Cinematographer Ashok Mehta.
Anil Kapoor's Acting Is Evergreen Supported With Fantastic Peppy Numbers By Anu Malik Make This A Must For DVD Lovers Too To Buy This Out.
Salman Khan's Role Is Short But Pretty Well Defined. The Climax Is Probably The Funniest Climax In Indian Comedy History.
Dialogues Are Amazing But The Main Characteristics That Made The Movie So Amazing And Fully Worth Watching Was Acting, Music, Cinematography, Direction And Editing.
In Short A Perfect Comedy Very Rare To See In Indian Cinema.
