EntrevĆas (2021)
Ok show but would've been much better in the hands of a more experienced writer and director.
I'll start off by staying the writing prettyuch divides all the characters up into reasonably intelligent, respectful, people, even though some are sort of curmudgeon like, and unbelievably stupid, lazy and naive people.
Now, the acting by any one particular actor wasn't really all that bad. It was the material that was, for the most part, unbelievably horrible. You've got a young Asian girl, her latino boyfriend and his mother who go around acting as if stealing from someone else is in some way acceptable. Even somehow justifiable!
The girl's grandfather and his Veteran buddies who fought in Bosnia together, along with the local Chief Inspector of the Police are about the only sensible people in the whole series. And most all of the bad things that happen in the series go back to a brick of Heroin. Like the loss of a brick of Heroin is worth burning buildings down, and killing people over while throwing an elderly lady down a flight of stairs, breaking her leg and going back the next day and stealing her home that she and her late husband worked all their lives to earn is ok and even in some sick way justifiable.
I'm guessing European political correctness is about as bad as American. Maybe even worse.
The writer and director try to make us believe that it's ok for our younger people to behave as if they were 10 or 12 years old for the rest of their lives. That ideas like personal discipline, responsibility and pride in one's self are bad virtues for our kids to learn. To me some of the best scenes are between the grandfather and the boyfriend. Where the grandfather tries to instill a sense of personal value in the boy. And, he eventually succeeds at it.
But, I digress. The trio of Spanish Military Vets (they never really say what branch they old guys served in) and the Actress who plays the Chief Inspector for the local police are great actors playing really good roles. I'm not so sure if whether the teenage girlfriend and her boyfriend are just horribly, poorly written characters or bad actors playing a bad part. Regardless they don't work and add to the story. They're more like bugs that need swatting to be honest.
Criminal Minds: What Doesn't Kill Us (2023)
Throwback episode for the fans of the original series.
I imagine this episode was written in to appease the fans of the way the original Criminal Minds was written. It was an episode where they presented and solved a case within one episode. The only real enlightenments presentented in this episode were Sicarius' hatred for his wife and children and that maybe they just serve as a forensic countermeasure for him. The other valuable exposition was to show us that Sicarius' puppeteer and enabler is actually further up the bureaucratic food chain than Emily's boss, Bailey. Otherwise it was pretty much a run of the mill episode of the old Criminal Minds format. Oh, and Penelope found a new playmate!
Wednesday (2022)
Ok, but could've done without the political overtones.
I really wish they would make a movie or series involving the Addams, that was just the good ol' dark satire and humor, but without trying to make a political statement!
This series at it's core is basically kind of a fun whodunnit! With little tidbits of humor thrown in once in a while.
The acting was really good as you would expect from a Burton directed show. And the cinematography was really good also. With lots of beautiful New Englandish fall colors.
Netflix did a really, incredibly exceptional job with the Enola Holmes movies. Wednesday is kind of along the same lines, but not nearly as much fun. And the added political and social commentary took away my enthusiasm for show. I wound up not really caring who dunnit and just wanted the last couple episodes to just end.
Enola Holmes 2 (2022)
Finally a really entertaining pair of movies!
Wow! It seems maybe Hollywood is finally starting to get the message! The message that when we watch a movie or TV show, we want to be entertained! Without being brow beaten with political lessons and political correctness or impactful statements or something never before seen or technically or historically 100% correct! A movie or TV show doesn't have to be any of that to entertain us! They just need to help us have a lot of fun for a couple of hours!
And these movies really accomplished that! The first rime in a very long time that I was very entertained and had fun watching pair of movies! The writing of each movie drew you into the stories and the characters lives without weighing us down with regrets and doubts and fears and all those other negative connotations! The acting was spot on, just fun to watch. You could really tell the actors actually had fun working and playing together. I would've loved to have been a fly on the wall during the filming of these movies! All the principal actors did just marvelous jobs of making you believe they actually were the characters they played! Millie Brown is quickly becoming one of my favorites to watch.
Now, all that being said, was there anything earth shattering or never seen before or impactful? No. But it sure was a whole lot of fun watching these two movies. I'll definitely be rewatching them several times!
Great job entertaining us Netflix! Keep it up and continue on what I hope is your journey into helping us all have fun watching movies and TV again!
I can't recommend this enough!
NCIS: New Orleans (2014)
My favorite NCIS series
By far the best of this franchise. The characters are much more mature. They haven't gotten any of the characters seriously romantically involved. They stories pretty much all take place in Louisiana instead of Afghanistan or Russia because most NCIS agents very seldom ever really work overseas or out of the country. This show is much more realistic than the other series in the franchise. I love Pride's bar and the music!
My second favorite cop show behind Chicago PD.
