Samurai Jack: Episode XCIV (2017)
Darker and even better
These days, you'll hardly see an animation series that completely blows your mind with its cinematic and choreography. Even then, you'll hardly see those to aspects executed so thoroughly and engagingly. Samurai Jack does that and much, much more. I don't even know how many things I can list to give this show the much needed credit it rightfully earned and deserves.
Take this episode for example. It's deeply and emotionally engaging. Jack's interaction with the white wolf shows us that we don't need words when our actions speak volumes. We see how genuinely disturbed he is for killing someone for the first time; how he finds it in himself to accept it and finally face his attackers head-on. It's all visually stunning, from the contrast of colors to the epic fight scenes.
I've eagerly waited years for this show to come back. I had high expectations when it was scheduled for release. Let me tell you, all my expectations were far exceeded with this beautiful and telling masterpiece. I cannot wait for the next episode. Definitely the best thing to watch this year.
