The First Lady (2022)
The First Ladies' Lips
I really enjoyed this series. I was fascinated by Eleanor Roosevelt and Betty Ford's stories. All of the sets design and costumes were spot-on. Sadly, I have to agree with many other reviewers and say that the bizarre lip gesticulations came pretty close to ruining what was otherwise a fantastic series. Michelle Pfeiffer did the best job with Betty Ford. Gillian Anderson's Eleanor Roosevelt was good, but for her overly dramatic facial expressions and mouth/chin trying (I guess) to mimic Eleanor's overbite. Viola Davis just about ruined this show. It was SO distracting to watch her try to stick her lips out with every scene, and so unnecessary! Not only that, but Michelle Obama herself comes across much warmer than the way she was portrayed.
If there's another season coming, please do us a favor and tell the director to knock it off with the lips!
Splice (2009)
Quite Possibly the Worst Movie I've Ever Seen
Want to destroy a relationship? Suggest to someone that they watch this movie with you, then get upset when they don't like it.
This movie is, in a word, disturbing.
If that weren't enough, the plot is terrible, there's no "sci" in this "fi", the dialogue is awful, the characters are awful and I can't think of a single redeeming quality.
Save yourself, find something else to watch.
The Plot Against the President (2020)
Fake-umentary
It should be illegal to call this steaming pile of lies a "documentary."
Active Measures (2018)
35 Indictments & Pleas - So Far
Anyone leaving a negative review is a Trump troll who hasn't watched this documentary. Claiming the Mueller investigation has found "nothing" is a straight up lie. There are things called "facts" and you don't have to be a "liberal" to see them - just a rational person capable of critical thought. This documentary is thorough, factual and chilling. Highly recommended.
Black Mirror (2011)
Food for Thought
If Ray Bradbury wrote episodes of the Twilight Zone set on the cutting edge of near-future technology, it would be Black Mirror. You won't feel good after watching an episode. You will think and you may even cry. It's deep and intense and disturbing. That's the whole point. If you enjoy pondering the moral dilemmas of our modern age, you'll appreciate this show.
