Ron Swanson eating a salad?!!??!
16 April 2020
Seriously, Ron has long hair and a full beard and sounds like the other Ron (remember the hippy one played by Sam Elliott?) in "Parks and Recreation". But seriously, the plot is so slow moving you could go and make coffee and not miss anything. It just seems pretentious and vague. I gave it 4 stars because it looks pretty.

Somebody watched Gene Hackman in "Heist"
25 March 2020
The part of the plot about disposing of the stolen gold is almost a straight lift from the 2001 film "Heist", starring Gene Hackman and Danny Devito. "Most wanted" has stereotypical characters, predictable plot and a waste of Rhea Seehorn's talent. Go watch "Heist" instead. It's snappier and funnier and Hackman is just the best in everything he does.

Bees, hot policewomen and a Christian Bale soundalike
13 March 2020
An absolute dire film with cardboard cutout characters and a ridiculous plot. A lot of the film sees the hero (male) policeman running after people. I fast forwarded those parts, then fast forwarded more. The sex scenes are laughable as is most of the dialogue and I'm wondering who is giving this film 5 star ratings?

Never trust a girl with freckles
17 February 2019
Chose to watch this because of the IMDB rating. Big mistake. One of the most boring films I've ever seen. Pretentious dialogue and laughable special effects. I wished I'd had that bag with the crosses for eyes to wear while I fast forwarded through this tripe.

A cop drama for Goths
22 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Pretentious rubbish posing as art. The teen goths will lap this up as all the characters dress in black. And the murder victim's songs are suitably gloomy. The hot female cop enjoys rough sex with her boss - but only if they keep their clothes on. One character's wife won't give him a handjob which is maybe why he was having it off with the murdered singer. A lot of tortured souls and angst around, but I got bored half way through the 2nd episode. Bracket this along with the French psycho thriller "The Crimson Rivers" which has a hot female cop with major daddy issues.

Lovely scenery, lousy plot
17 January 2019
What starts off as a decent crime mystery gradually disintegrates into a conspiracy thriller with a plot so full of holes you could use it as a colander. One character just sits in a room answering the phone and telling someone that they've either messed up or they need to deal with something. As we move towards the end, there's a lot of pop psychology and religious jibber jabber thrown in to make the characters seem deep. Basically they're all stereotypes who only narrowly avoid this show turning into a comedy farce. And the final sting in the tail is just pointless. (I should add that I'd figured out what the ending would be by episode 4, but silly me had to see it through to the bitter end.) What you will get from "The River" is ideas for what to wear if you ever go hiking on the Norway/Finland border. This is the last time I'll watch a "Walter Presents" show. These days it's just a dumping ground for poor Euro TV series.

Dire dialogue and wooden acting.
19 September 2018
The dialogue is clunky and the acting is so wooden it's an embarrassment to furniture. But, of course, the folk who think Oxford University is like Hogwarts and that witches, vampires and other supernatural beings are everywhere will swallow it up and vote it as a top show. Getting really fed up of this same old rubbish filling up my TV screen, but it seems to be what the majority of viewers want, so I guess we're stuck with it.

Crime drama as soap opera.
19 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this series because of the positive reviews it's had. Big mistake. Crime novels and Crime TV shows are big business these days, so I suppose it's only natural that they're turned into soap opera fodder. Suzanne Clément as the cop whose teenage daughter goes missing is such a drama queen it's embarrassing. As other reviewers have pointed out, there's no way she would be included in this investigation and there's the scene where she punches out a paedophile suspect during an interview. Seriously? Even funnier is when the crooked dad whose daughter's also gone missing storms into the police station with a hunting rifle. Gimme a break. This would've made a decent 90 minute film if they'd cut out all the histrionics. As a 6 part crime drama, it's a joke.

Westenders - an OTT soap opera by Harlan Coben
15 May 2018
I added this series to my Netflix list on the strength of the high rating given to this series. Bad mistake. How this made it to any screen is beyond me. A decent opening spirals downwards to the level of a comic soap opera as almost every person living in a gated estate - somewhere in Cheltenham I believe - has "a secret". All that was missing from the various sub plots was a story about alien abduction. Despite all the big name actors (I would watch anything with Audrey Fleurot) in it, the characters could have been portrayed by the Carry On crew and nobody would have batted an eye. Avoid.
