Labor of Love (2020)
The Bachelorette with grown ups.
The misguided moral outrage for this show is so annoying. Have any of these people actually seen it? What it is NOT: a show where a woman will pick a man to impregnate her, for all of the world to scoff at. What it IS: a typical reality dating show with a twist. The woman (Kristy) is in her early 40s and knows she wants children before it's too late. The men are also at similar stages in their lives. In the first episode, Kristy makes it clear that she hopes she will find her match, who shares her values for starting a family. If not, she will pursue a family on her own. Put the pitchforks away.
So far, the show is entertaining. Questions swim through my mind each episode: Are these guys really interested in a family or just fame? Is Kristy going to choose for passion or paternal instinct? Are the guys going to live up to their "mature" label? Who is actually "father material?" And what provocative situations will the producers throw at these guys next?
