Supernatural: Heart (2007)
Solid acting, Emotional depth for male characters, and then that?!
This episode felt like they wasted a lot of time on nonsense and red herrings, only to leave us with six minutes at the end of the episode where they actually figure anything out and resolve it. Plus, the resolution is moronic.
The first 3/4 of this hour wouldn't be such an issue if they had stretched this plot over two episodes. First of all, were left with questions regarding whether the neighbor is really the villain, because he also didn't know what was going on, so it feels perfectly likely that he is also an innocent victim in this situation. They could have spent last time on the red herring setting this up and sitting around, waiting to find out if and when Madison would change. They could've also stretch this over two episodes where they spent more time, trying to figure out the origin of the werewolf bloodline, perhaps someone is turning people in that part of town or something. Also, after all these other episodes where they spend most of the hour trying to help someone in a tough spot, for example, the episode right before this where they are helping a ghost figure out she's a ghost and move on, to just give up on this person so soon after figuring out the issue feels completely unnatural. To then also make these two characters who, up until now, have shown some moral boundaries over murdering people, shoot this woman in cold blood in the middle of the day, with a very loud gun in an apartment building with no exit strategy is illogical.
Also, knowing that this woman only turns certain nights of the month and it's currently the end of the full moon cycle for that month, she probably has a few weeks before she's going to turn again when she could get her affairs in order, enjoy the last few days of her life, etc. Why murder her right this very minute? It's also daytime, so why not at least let her live out the day if they're still worried about her turning that night.
There were also comments about her having to be asleep to turn, so why can't she just stay up those few nights of the month? Also, Sam very successfully kept this chick locked in what appeared to be a coat closet all night long, so you're telling me a structure couldn't be built to hold this person? She is a normal human being 95% of the time with just a few hours a couple days of the month that are problematic. At an absolute minimum, why not at least try locking her up/tranquillizing her/keeping her up all night a couple times? Worst case scenario there is if she breaks out and tries to attack someone, you can kill her, but with cause. This debate has come up a few times already in the show over whether it's OK to kill someone who hasn't done evil yet, but has the potential for evil. In this case, there was no hesitation or real debate. It just this was decided, and that was it.
The acting performances in this episode were great, and we got to see some real emotional depth from the two main guys. It's a lovely, tragic story, but just could've been done so many different and better ways.

Rebecca gets a windfall from Daddy and tries to take Sam's most prized possession
I hate the way they've developed Rebecca's character over the season's, she was this strong independent woman who used to stand up for herself and she gets worse with every episode.
I hate this episode. After everything that she has already put everyone through this season, Rebecca comes back from a trip (that Woody unwittingly paid for) determined to buy the bar she watched Sam work so hard for years to buy/earn back, and seemingly oblivious to the fact that she has no right to buy it. Sam got the bar back at the expense of Robin, but Rebecca ended leaving him at the alter anyway, so that doesn't seem like a motivator for trying to take Sam's most prized possession (or at least one tied for first with his corvette and his hair).
If Rebecca hadn't been turned into this spoiled little brat, and had come to Sam and said "I want to buy A bar" or "I want to be a partner here", that would've been great. Sam could've turned her down and then they still could've had the whole fighting over Hill's poolroom stuff without it seeming so tone deaf to Sam's 9 year history with this bar.
