Wheeler Dealers: 1965 Barracuda - Part 1 (2019)
Not the best
They apparently start doing the restoration then leave it for 12 months. This doesn't seem reasonable, as they have got money invested in the car. It's interesting to see Ant building the roll cage but nothing else really happens.
Ant was in the middle of separating from his first wife, and at the start of the programme he was wearing his wedding band, then he wasn't. Maybe they put the filming on pause while he was sorting himself out. An earlier episode had Ant wearing a black wedding band though, which is from his second marriage, so they are aired out of filming order, so who really knows.
The Hunting of the Snark (2023)
Confusing and unwatchable
I am all for the unusual but I only got 15 minutes into this before switching it off. Fortunately it was included for free in my Amazon Prime account.
I haven't read the story, so I don't know how accurate the film is. The part I saw was sumptuous, very well filmed, at a gorgeous location. It was setting the scene with the characters, which I understand, but nothing really happened and this was all that I managed to get through before I got bored with it.
I appreciate that the film is rated well, but there's no reviews here to explain why. It would be far better if people reviewed it to let others know.
Black Mirror: Metalhead (2017)
Seems you either 'get' this or you don't...
I'm late into BM and came on here to check the trivia about the episode. I noticed there are very mixed feelings about it and wanted to add my voice to the 'love it' camp.
With some episodes we are given the back story and perhaps from the comments that's what people expect now. When we don't have it, as with this episode, our minds can run wild about how things got to how they are. There isn't as much action or gadgetry in this as in other episodes but - it doesn't matter. We don't need to know how the world came to be as it is. It doesn't need loads of characters, lines of dialogue, explosions or fantastical settings - Bella, the main character, shows it all in her face. I was there with her, feeling every emotion, on the edge of my seat, rooting for her. It proves how much can be accomplished with so little. Bravo.
Le voyage dans la lune (1902)
A must watch!
Fantastic to see this piece of history. A true masterpiece, unspoilt by the years that have passed since its making. Wonderful storyline and the colourisation helps you pick out each character. I imagine Monty Python took their inspiration from films like this.
Crime Lord (2018)
Refreshingly different
So glad I found this on Amazon Prime. If it were a book I would buy it. This is an independent series written, funded, produced, directed, casted, etc etc by and starring David Wilde - so no, it's not Hollywood blockbuster quality, but it's *real*. It may take a little time to get used to the Scottish accents but it's worth it. Can't wait for season 2, which is being produced in the next few months.
Movie 43 (2013)
Worst. Film. Ever.
I don't write many reviews but I am compelled to do so with this. It is by far the worst thing I have ever watched and I want my time back. Comedy? All I did was cringe. I'm not easily offended but I couldn't see that the film scenes were meant to do anything other than to try and offend, rather than entertain. Fortunately it's only 94 mins long. What the hell were some of these stars thinking when they signed up for this?? I haven't even passed the DVD on to a charity shop, I don't want anyone else to suffer through it.
