This was not worth the time
5 May 2023
When the film began it had the potential of being an indie horror. Acting was not good, but there may have been a plot hidden in the poor dialogue. However, the film never evolved into anything but a complete waste of time. The characters are forgettable or outright annoying. The cinematography is lacking and if there was a script it was horribly conceived.

Where did the film go wrong. First the premise of friends meeting at a summer home was on point for a standard horror film. The characters could have been forgiven for their annoyances had the plot moved into a general theme. The sink hole being a passage to hell or a doorway to another dimension was never established. The drama that was presented between characters worked against the plot and the characters just became more unappealing as the movie progressed. If there was a purpose for the deaths or a mythos for the killer it was lost in translation. The most frightening thing about this film is realizing you wasted nearly two hours of your life watching it.

Missed the mark

This film had potential and there were moments when it appeared that it may bounce back. However, it never rebounded into anything other then a waste of a good afternoon.

I can deal with poor acting and poor lighting. A lack of a consistent plot, character development and story is too much. Wanted to buy into the mythos, but I feel even the writer lost their footing as the film developed.

The Courier (2019)

A fun film not to be taken seriously.

The Courier is a typical 80s action with over the top fights and the usual amount of violence. The film itself is fun and paced well. Olga Kurylenko has excellent presence and her ability to portray the role is without a doubt what makes the film entertaining. Amit Shah is little more then a prop during the majority of the film. But the film works by presenting an escape and hunt scenario. A great film if you suspend belief and are looking for a good action.
