The Invisible Man (2020)
AMAZING
I really enjoyed this movie. I'm kind of a baby when it comes to "scary" movies. I watched this alone and was honestly afraid to sleep because I kept thinking someone was watching me. This movie had me talking to the TV telling Cecelia to DO SOMETHING! And after watching it a second time I love it even more! There's an element of SURPRISE! And little things that I didnt catch the first time watching it. Please watch this. Also, Elizabeth Moss does an amazing job.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
colorful, fun, violent, entertaining, funny
Colorful, fun, violent, entertaining, funny, and a little gore? I really enjoyed this film. I'm a Harley Quinn fan and an even bigger Margot Robbie fan and she was truly the perfect person for this role. I enjoyed the new characters a lot. I thought the film kind of jumped around but it wasn't bad jumping around. I think the "all over the place"-ness of the movie reminded me of Harley Quinn herself and it set a good tone for the movie.
Underwater (2020)
mixed feelings
First off, I really enjoy scifi/creature movies. And the Mariana Trench amazes me since we don't really know much about whats *really* down there nor can we actually explore much of it for very long. So with that being said, any time there's a movie about deep water adventures and discovery, I'm all in!! Add a little bit of fear and scary creatures for a thrill and I'm also a fan!!
Now almost immediately this movie gave me Aliens vibes and it kept on giving throughout. Like I could probably name off every moment something reminded me of Aliens but that would give away too many spoilers. Although it had so many Aliens like qualities, it didn't make me dislike the movie, I actually liked that it did.
There's some action where the place blows up a bit and puts them in a tough place in terms of survival, a lot of jump scares, some death scenes, scary creature scenes, and I enjoyed all of it. I even felt a little claustrophobic myself.
But something felt "off" about the movie. Like we didn't get any character development. We didn't even really know these characters enough and had nothing to cheer for if they lived or be upset about if they died, I guess. I wish they gave more explanation of the creatures or maybe even if the characters discussed the creatures more?? I guess maybe they were all too much in shock, it was just odd.
Go see it if you're into creature films, scifi, Aliens, etc because it is good on the big screen. But it fell short with character and even creature development.
47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019)
Better than the first one
So I really enjoy these types of movies. And I always go into them knowing well enough that it is fictional, unlikely, and unrealistic. But that's what makes a MOVIE. If you are trying to be a critic and point out all of the flaws and have realistic expectations then you should stick to National Geographic or animal planet.
Now for those of you who enjoy movies and have an open mind, I recommend this movie. If you saw the first one then you kind of know the synopsis of what happens. I thought this one was a lot scarier and had more to it to keep you engaged. There were a few jump scenes some were predictable and some were very shocking. There are some parts of the movie that reminded me a lot of first one, like running out of air, sister bonding, and of course the sharks. If you haven't seen the first one it's OK it won't affect this movie at all. I probably wouldn't see it again only because this is one of those movies that is better in theater and it won't be as good a second time knowing what happens. But all in all I'm giving it an eight because it was rather enjoyable, had me on the edge of my seat, and had me rooting for the main character.
And the sharks were great, A+ for scary & toothy smiles.
Crawl (2019)
If you like human vs beast movies, watch this
So first of all, I love these types of movies. This one was different too. It's freaking alligators in Florida during a hurricane!!! I was very impressed within the first meeting of the alligator by how scary they made it look and sound. And I was on edge for the whole movie.
Yes I will admit there were some predictable parts and even parts that made me laugh but if you have seen any human vs beast movie you know what's gonna happen basically. That doesn't mean it was not entertaining and enjoyable.
Anyway if you want to be one of those "it was stupid and predictable" viewers that hate everything, don't go see this. Just stay home and watch animal planet. But if you want some entertainment, go see Crawl!!!!
