Billions: Admirals Fund (2023)
From great to... pathetic.
Billions was great, it had it all for some five seasons. A classic drama, well played and written in all aspects (well, Wendy character never delivered, but WTH).
And, then, just a total disaster, with an incomprehensible plot. What's the problem with Prince? Is he too just, or what is the problem? SInce all other decide to betray him on no grounds, you just start to wonder what it's all about? And then, eventually, in the last and final episode, just a joke, so pathetic you just get embarrassed. The writers seem so bored with the whole thing, they just jump around in the timeline to get it all to an ending, and they are really to bored to get it together. Poor!
Billions (2016)
From good to, unfortunately, not so good...
In the beginning, I totally rated this a clear 10, it had it all, it was an almost classical Shakespeare style drama. Hilarious!
And, along the way, it has slowly declined, into a very strange storyline, and also, even rather poor acting. E.g., the Wendy (Maggie Siff) character, that has never been very well performed, is really bad, but also those played by more competent actors, such as character Axe (Damian Lewis) and Chuck (Paul Giamatti) are really underperforming. The only character that is rather ok, but not great, is Prince (Corey Stoll).
And the story, help! Why is everybody so pissed on Prince? What makes him the devil reincarnated? Absolutely NOTHING in the play explains why everybody want to get rid of his presidency, all the other guys, Chuck, Wendy, Axe, are much worse, and, compared to the real candidates running up for 2024, Prince would get my vote all time! So strange!
Händelser vid vatten (2023)
Boring, slow, and SO predictable
What is it wíth Swedish film/TV? Why do they think that numb acting and slow pace, combined with a standard intrigue is good? Not even the August family (there are a lot of them here...) make it, their acting is so bad it's a big question they made it in to basic stage school. And the resumes in the beginning of every episode are so confused they are just big laughs. So poor it's actually fun to watch, a real turkey!
E.g. The main characters find out that they should ask a woman in Finland, maybe some 1,000 miles from where they are, including one ferryline the distance of at least 14 hours, a pretty simple question, did she have a student named NN? Of course they decide to go there! Using phone is of course not an option! So, they go for maybe three days, knocks on the door (lucky she is home!), and ask her the question, it takes maybe three minutes. She answers "no", and they leave... It's so stupid it's hilarous!
As far as I know, the novel it's based on is supposed to be written of one of their best, but I really wonder... Have read quite a few ones, and it's hard to believe that this extremely thin story is based on anything worth to read.
The Choice (2016)
Horrible
One of the worst ever, so bad it's fun! Poor acting, texts a joke, details make you laugh. And, she wakes up in the end!
