Shutter (I) (2008)
4/10
A little bit of everything.
22 March 2008
No, I never saw the original.

However, the trailer for this looked somewhat promising than a few other horror movie remakes. So I decided to watch it with a few friends. So five minutes into the movie. Nothing new. Ten more minutes into the movie. Nothing new. Thirty minutes... and so on, and so on.

Everything in the movie seems just to be a re-hash of the other movies (it's somewhat understandable, as this is from similar producers), but the fact that a lot of the scenes (majority =P) were very generic was just a negative.

There were probably one or two memorable scenes or elements, but that is it. At best, the movie is okay... And just for the record, One Missed Call had more creepy scenes than this flick.

Many flaws -- but nonetheless, a very fun and entertaining movie
10 March 2008
Well yes, there are many inaccurate details presented in this movie, but still... And yes, some of the cgi is a bit sub par, but still-- this movie is very fun and entertaining to watch. It is a great weekend popcorn flick just to sit back and relax to. Just enjoy and don't expect a detailed documentary or something. There is plenty of action, suspense, and adventure to please all of the audience. Acting is pretty strong (though a little goofy at moments) but it pulls through. Some amazing settings and sequences should please as well. Script seems strong, despite inaccuricies of the history (lol... flaws here and there, but still enjoyable, nonetheless). Highly recommended for any movie goer.

It wasn't that bad.

First -- if you don't like The Grudge or Pulse or any other Asian horror remake, you won't really like this one either.

However, I have to say, it was entertaining through out. Yes, there are just the simple pop-up scares, but some of the scenes were very nicely done... a bit cliché... but still. Death scenes were an upgrade compared to recent remakes -- yes, they were still tame, but however slickly and stylishly done. There is a lot of creepy visuals and creepy atmosphere. The actors and actresses play their roles pretty good. The only negative I can think about this movie is the pop-up scares-a-second.

So all in all, the movie is pretty good. It is a lot better than some other Asian horror remakes and entertaining.

High School Musical 2 (2007 TV Movie)
3/10
Best musical ever? Please.
17 August 2007
Whatever. Here comes the unhelpful votes.

I am going to be honest here and give it some credit. One or two songs are good, acting is a bit better, and there are some pretty nice moments through out.

But all in all, this was worse than the first one. Everything is cliché (I know, but what movie isn't you're asking? This one has all the clichés in the book and everything is uninteresting). The one liners and jokes are laughable and I don't mean it in a good way.

Maybe it's the fact that high school students don't act this way. I think the writer should consider to make it "Middle School Musical" to make it a little more believable. (Tisdale's character represents a miniature Paris Hilton on a note).

Singing is average... again. However, I was bothered by the fact that they let almost everyone sing... especially the ones that can't and the ones that don't have a good vocal range compared to the rest.

Dancing is a bit average, nothing memorable. Annoying thing is that people keep hyping up the "amazing" Kenny Ortega. Give it up already, I think they over did it with the first movie.

All in all, this is nothing special. Maybe worth one watch but that's it. Key things to remember is the song "I Don't Dance" (only good song through out the movie) and the kind of funny scene where Sharpay performs "You Are The Music In Me." If you want to watch an actually good musical, Grease and West Side Story are your picks.

Decent
9 August 2006
This is really impressive for a straight-to-video, pretty better than 'Urban Legends: Bloody Mary' another straight-to-video that was also the third in its trilogy. There was real looking gore and death scenes that were nicely done. Its really decent and fans of the series will sure like this one.

A group of friends are on a ferris wheel ride and they are telling the legend of 'The Fisherman.' Its just legend they say. Or is it? When a prank causes a deadly accident, the group keeps it a secret. A year later, that's when they face the menace.

So look for this one in a video store near you. Its worth a rent.

This "Stranger" failed to scare the audience
27 February 2006
The original "When A Stranger Calls" pleased the audience with it's scary prologue. So why not make a remake with making the prologue of the original a feature length? Because it is a terrible idea! Jill Johnson has to go babysit at the Mandrakis house because she needs to pay her cellphone bill. She is in the isolated house. The kids are asleep. It's almost night time. Suddenly, the phone rings. Who can it be? She picks it up and a raspy voice answers, "Have You Checked The Children?" This is one of the worst movies ever made. I highly recommend you don't see it. You will be high disappointed! You ought to watch something else in your extra time.
