It has to be one of the best coming of age movies of the 80's. The plot, witty dialogue, and characters make this a classic. It's up there with Fast Times at Ridgemont High, which is saying a lot.

The acting elevates the material, and the material is not half bad. This ultimately works if you give it time.

What a movie this is, so moving! It's got everything from husband-wife drama and father-daughter tension to high school cliques and race relations. Love it!
