About a Boy (2002)
Very accurate but suddenly disappointing
I've just finished reading the novel by Hornby and I quite liked ''rereading'' it by watching this movie. I was glad to find all the scenes I had enjoyed the most in Hornby's work. I enjoyed the recitation as well. Very interesting movie indeed... Until the end, when it became disappointing. Reasons are basically two: firstly, the character of Marcus' father isn't really developed; in addition, Ellie's love for the singer Kurt Cobain is completely missing (as well as Marcus' passion for Nirvana): therefore, the ending is completely missing: you won't see Marcus and Ellie go to Cambridge and then Ellie smashing the front part of a shop ''to save Kurt Cobain'', if that's what you're expecting. So, you'll finish watching this movie with a slight bitterness.
Stardust (2020)
Quite useless and not very much exciting
At the beginning, we are warned that most facts portrayed in this movie were made up; and I wonder: ''What's the point in making a movie about a real person with fictional facts?''. Later on, this supposed David Bowie starts singing, and he sings anything but songs by Bowie because of copyright reasons; then the - MADE UP - plot loses his initial little magic and turns into an innocent movie to watch during a thursday evening home alone. Quite disappointing. Long live David Bowie ... but I hope this sort of memorial won't.
Plain Clothes (1988)
Excellence
Fantastically mystery comedy with the greatest actress in the world, Alexandra Powers.
