Downey's Dream Cars (2023)
Very preachy
As a car builder myself, I like the idea of thinking outside the box. Before I go on let me say I do love a classic, restored to original, or original car. But the show takes a newer hybrid and puts it in an old car that gets 9 mpg, uses an electric motor to power a truck, and the series goes on. It's really no different than doing an LS swap into a 57 Chevy, is it? Better fuel economy, more power, better reliability, all in all a better car. Keep it clean and do it right and I'm all in. That's the good from the show. The bad is Iron Man, I literally see Tony Stark living high on the hog for all those years and then preaching to Captain America on how he's wrong because Tony had a touchy feely moment. Half the show is Downey preaching to the audience how we've been wrong all along and he's going to save us if we'll just follow along. He even has one guest who believes we'll all give up our cars soon and use robot taxis. I have news for you, step out of your penthouse and see how the country, no the world lives. We're not crammed in a few city blocks and can all share a cab. Sure, some things need to change. His desire and the cars is why I gave it a 5. Maybe I'll get a few ideas from it.
Black Adam (2022)
Should have been so much more
Plot:
The presumptuous and pious Justice Society defy the will of the people and try to destroy the only human on earth capable of standing against them.
The plot was so cliche, so overly scripted you can call the scene and dialogue before it happens. Special effects were the highlight of the film. Well done on that part at least. Super powers aside there was so much that was such a stretch it made the movie hard to buy into. Would a parent really put their child in a dangerous and even deadly position? Would a Justice Society stand by and let a nation be ravaged in such a way? That's the movie we want. The fall of the justice league into the moral abyss it is in this movie. Reminds me of The Last Jedi. Did someone have a bone to pick with DC? Did someone want to "change" it? Well, they did. And made a poor movie in the process.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Reva is the bad spot of the show
A true Star Wars show. Plenty of flashbacks, characters, vehicles, creatures that bring us a true Star Wars movie. Plot is good and it moves along well. Except Reva. A spoiled brat of a Jedi hunter. It's a shame they had to make that character the was she is. You've proven you can do better Disney, so do it.
Reacher (2022)
Predictable but a good show
It was a good series but predictable. Lots of action and a story line that holds your attention. Too many big guy jokes though and the Scooby Doo explanations throughout the show need to go.
The Wonder Years (2021)
Looking forward to more
I'm usually not a fan of reboots, I'd rather see the original but this was a good first episode. It usually takes a few episodes of a show for me to get into it but oddly enough I felt a connection. Odd because I'm a middle aged white guy who didn't grow up in the sixties.
A Year in Music (2019)
Used to be good. Get another host
Do I have to hear about Halestorm on every episode? There are hundreds of bands and singers who hit the charts each year but the host has to mention her band in a cheap sales pitch every time. Plus every year is a "huge" year for women. Show used to be good.
