Stallion Road (1947)
I thought it was good...
I've never watched hardly any of Ronald Reagan's movies, but I enjoyed this one. I thought for a few minutes that his character would die. but if you're reading this and you're interested, he doesn't! He, of course, lives on.
It was randomly on TCM one night and I wasn't going to watch it but it sounded interesting *I love horses* and now that I'm considering that field, I want to see it again.
I thought the movie was awesome and yeah it wasn't a very action-filled film but I thought it was good. I'm sure there are a few others who think the same. If you love\like horses and cows, see the film. Especially if you're a vet. The acting was good *though probably not Oscar worthy* but I enjoyed the film. Any family would enjoy this film.
The Guns of Fort Petticoat (1957)
Now, it's one of my favorite westerns along with McLintock! and Calamity Jane
OK, this film is goofy, but that's what makes it so good. I have watched it twice, and I love it. This was the first full film I had seen with Audie Murphy, and now, I'd like to see more of his work. Since he was a Texas boy, (I'm a native of Texas as well) he's proof that talent comes out of Texas. It's certainly better than a lot of the junk out in the world right now, and westerns nowadays have none of the luster that the old ones do. Maybe it's because they axed the sexual content and more of the language and blood violence. Certainly, this ranks along with: McLintock!, Calamity Jane, the Apple Dumpling Gang, Apple Dumpling Gang Rides AGain, Angel and the Badman, etc......(You can tell I like JOhn Wayne's stuff and Don Knotts) anyway. One of the best westerns, and it had (has) an excellent cast.
Cars (2006)
Best movie (so far) of 2006
This movie was better than I expected. It had heart, and had some great lessons about learning to put others ahead of yourself and to think of others instead of being obsessed with getting attention for yourself. Not Disney's finest, but certainly a winner for me. The music was good as well, Sheryl Crow's "Real Gone" and Rascal Flatts "Life is a Highway" set the mood for the film perfectly. I'm a fan of country music anyway, and of Rascal Flatts. I loved this two songs. I can't wait for this film to come out on DVD, so I can watch it endlessly. This ranks among my favorites for Disney/Pixar's films: 1. Cars, 2. Finding Nemo, 3. Toy Story 2, 4. Toy Story. All of these are excellent in animation and story. I even cried at parts of the story, especially when McQueen pushed The King to the finish line, and when Mater and McQueen were developing their close friendship. Also, when McQueen found out that being cared for (in more than just publicity) and caring about others was great. That really was what stood out to me. Great job, Disney and Pixar!
Bibleman (1995)
This is definitely for younger viewers, but I still like it!
This Christian series is somewhat quirky, but also has a lot of fun little lessons in them about lying, cheating, anger, and a bunch of other things. I am sad to know that Willie Aames is leaving the show and turning it over to someone else. The show just won't be the same without him. He made the show. Not just because he is Bibleman, but also because of the faith lessons he brought to the series. It might be a way for kids to get "religious", but it also helps to strengthen them for the future and lets them know that God is their help in times of trouble. This might be for younger kids, but I still like it! It might be cheesy, but that's what makes it good.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968)
One of my personal favorites!
I in a way grew up with this film. It's just so cool, and I know all the words to the songs. Dick Van Dyke was awesome in his role, as he always is, and the other actors were great as well. It always reminds me of Mary Poppins in a way, especially the "Me Old Bamboo" part. Considering Dick Van Dyke isn't a dancer, he sure looks like one in this film. If this movie didn't win an award, it should have. It's awesome! The car is one of my favorite things, and my favorite singing-dancing part is the doll part. Sally Ann Howes is awesome in this movie! She has an amazing voice. The children were also good. The grandfather, oh, how funny he was. He's such an eccentric in this film, and I always laugh at him.
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe (2005)
Best of 2005
This was and is the best movie of 2005. I cried almost all the way through it. Andrew Adamson has done an amazing job creating a Narnia that would probably exceed C.S. Lewis' imagination. I was immediately drawn into it. William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Georgie Henley, Skandar Kynes, and Tilda Swinton all did an amazing job performing their character's actions, attitudes, and even looking like them. I have to say that Aslan was the most convincing "person" in the film. I hope this film is nominated for an Academy Award, because it deserves several. This film will become a classic, and will last as long as film lasts. It was one of the most heartwarming movies that I have seen in a while. Since I have read all seven Chronicles of Narnia, I was particularly excited about the movie. It exceeded even what I had imagined would be in the film. I love The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, and I give it 10 stars!
