Might Need More Adjustment
22 December 2021
I saw this movie as a kid, and didn't quite get it. I've seen it a couple times as an adult and I'm not sure if I get it yet. Two hours of two couples yelling and screaming at each other is hard to get at any age. None of the characters are all that likeable and they blame everyone else for the predicament they're in. News flash,,, if you marry someone after knowing them for two weeks or if you marry someone for money.... IT MIGHT NOT WORK OUT!!!!

Starts Out With a Bang
4 November 2021
The problem with a mini series that starts out as good as this one is, it's really hard to keep the same intensity for eight more episodes. The first episode is arguably the most intense and shocking 55 minutes ever filmed. So there's bound to be a drop off. Even so, the entire series is extremely watchable and even binge worthy. If you're looking for something different... THIS IS IT !!

Bad Title Good Movie
25 September 2021
As several other reviewers have stated, the title of this film is terrible. Seems like the producers thought that a provocative title might sell more tickets. I think promoting Rita Hayworth and Robert Mitchum would have made more sense. 5hey were both great and created a lot of chemistry that is missing in a lot of movies. Well worth a watch.

The Perfect Western
15 September 2021
Is there such a thing as a "perfect " Western? I think this may be it. It's like director Kevin Costner took all the good attributes from every Western ever made and incorporated them into this film. If you're a Western fan , you'll love this movie. If you're not a Western fan you'll love this movie. If you've never seen a Western you'll love this movie. Get the point?

One Of The Best Episodes of The Series
1 June 2021
Most of these half hour episodes are very good but this one is exceptional. Maybe I wasn't paying attention closely enough but I NEVER SAW THIS ENDING COMING!!!

Cast Carried the Film
20 May 2021
How many movies have been made about a divorce? A million? Seems so , but this one was made very watchable by a superb cast. Some may find it a bit slow moving and even boring but thought it was a very good watch. A slightly disappointing ending but none the less very worthwhile.

Chester Rises to the Occasion
12 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Chester Goode is really a unique TV character. In most episodes he is portrayed as a rather simple minded incompetent assistant (not deputy) to Marshall Dillon. However, there are a few episodes where the writers let Chester shine. This is one of those. Our hero Marshall Dillon could not have done better than Chester. He kills the bad guys, takes a bullet out of Doc, and makes horse soup. Not sure I can name another TV character whose competence level swings 180° like Chester's. Good watch.

No Spoilers Here
10 May 2021
Why do we all love Alfred Hitchcock TV shows? ( Both the half hour and hour long versions) FOR THE TWIST AT THE END !! No twist here. Not even a hint of a twist. Not that it was a bad watch but I may have been watching Dragnet or Highway Patrol. Maybe I should have put a spoilers warning on this. The spoiler is.... THERE'S NOTHING TO SPOIL !!!

As Usual a Great Twist at the End
3 May 2021
Really preferred the half hour episodes but this hour long one was superb. Very well written with a very good cast. The pacing was also good enough that it almost seemed like a half hour episode. Won't give the ending away except to say you'll probably be as surprised as I was.

Marshall Dillon Bends the Law a Little
2 May 2021
I really enjoy the early half hour episodes although this one seemed a bit rushed at the end. And, as another viewer said , our beloved Marshall seems to have bent the law just a bit at the end of the episode. Reminded me of the episode " Never Pester Chester" where ALMOST killing Chester by dragging him behind a horse wasn't a crime IF Chester survived the ordeal. Of course this was the 1870s and who knows how specific the laws were. All in all another great watch. What else is new?

Not Nearly as Bad as Reviewers Are Saying
17 April 2021
I make it a point to watch a movie BEFORE I read the user reviews. People who say this is the worst movie they've ever seen must have only seen four or five movies in their lives. Heck, I've seen worse movies this week!! A great movie ? No. But as bad as reviewers are making it out to be ? Absolutely not! Seems like a lot of "piling on " here.

Was a Better Series Than People Gave it Credit For
3 April 2021
The more I watch this series the more I like it. It was made in the era where TV westerns were flooding the air waves so it may have got lost in the shuffle. As a huge fan of the movie Shane I was a little skeptical of how 5he main characters would be portrayed. Jill Ireland's role is the only one I'm a little disappointed in. On the other hand Bert Freeds role as Ryker is a step up from the big screen. He's just as grizzled and tough as the original but seems a bit wiser and more intelligent. He's probably my favorite character in the entire series. Like I said, too many other westerns, bad time slot , early cancelation. Too bad because the writing and character development was right up there with Gunsmoke. And that's saying something!!

Only One Problem With This Episode
18 February 2021
The best episodes of this or any Western series are the ones where the villains are so despicable that you want to reach into your screen and strangle them. Here, you're almost rooting for the bad guy. Great acting and a good story BUT the villain was never portrayed as a really evil person. Therefore Matt does what he has to do but its not as satisfying as it could have been.

My Favorite Episode
5 February 2021
With 20 years and over 600 episodes to choose from, its hard to pick a favorite one but this is it. Steve Forrest plays the villain so well that you're trying to reach into the screen to strangle him. Many other reviewers point out how unbelievable some of the events are. What they don't seem to realize is that the whole purpose of this episode was to have a confrontation between Forrest and Matt. This was done beautifully (and brutally). Saying this was the BEST episode is really saying something given the quality of 5he series.

Am I Watching the Same Show?
4 February 2021
I actually swore off network TV about 15 years ago because it was so bad. Let's take every show from the '70s remake it (worse) and shovel it to our viewers. I saw the previews for this show during a football game on ABC and thought it might be worth a try. Maybe because my expectations were so low( it is a network show) I found it highly entertaining. Well written well acted and mostly " what's going to happen next.?" There's a difference between good and entertaining. All the negative reviewers point out the poor acting the poor writing or the holes in the plot. Maybe they're right. All I know is this is the most entertaining show I've watched on network TV in 15 years years !!

Another Great Episode
31 January 2021
I never really understood the hatred between the homesteaders and the cattlemen. Its been well documented in countless TV shows and movies. Seems like during the 19th century there was plenty of land for both groups. In fact it seems like the two groups would be perfect trade partners beef for grain, and food stuffs. But evidently this wasn't the case. In this episode a ranch hand of Ryker doesn't even think homesteaders are human. As usual Shane saves the day but it should be noted that Ryker ( who supposedly also hates sod busters ) shows some real guts in doing whats right. This series was very well written and acted. Unfortunately it was never really given a chance. Maybe never would have been a Gunsmoke or a Bonanza but you never know.

Better Title Would Have Been $1.87
30 January 2021
The most amazing thing about this movie was Alan Ladd. And not in a good way. Probably because of his alcoholism Ladd was almost unrecognizable. Was this Shane?? Although he was only 47 he looked like a 65 year old out of shape grandpa. His acting seemed to have diminished as much as his looks. This film would have been a lot better with someone like Audie Murphy in the lead role. Sadly as Shane is my all time favorite movie and Ladds character my all time favorite character this movie was very hard for me to watch.

Best Episode of the Entire Series
24 January 2021
If every episode had been this good the show wouldn't been canceled regardless of its competition. The farm desperately needed money and Shane only knows one way to earn it. Plenty of drama and human emotion on display here along with great acting. If you only see one of the 17 episodes this is the one!!

Another Great "Noir" Film
20 January 2021
I get tired of saying "Why can't they make movies like this anymore?" This movie had eluded me for 60 years or so. When I finally watched it I was thoroughly enthralled. What a great story and great acting. Very fast paced and not a single unnecessary scene. A little under the radar but well worth seeking out. Some reviewers didn't like the ending. I LOV3D IT !!

Another Good Entry
19 January 2021
Evidently there were a lot of good women married to lousy men 150 years ago. This is another example of this and because it's a Gunsmoke episode it was expertly done and held the viewer's attention till the end, The regulars had little to do except stay out the way. There were a lot of episodes like this one over the 20 year run. The reason... Great writing.

The Circus Comes to Town
21 November 2020
A predictable plot becomes a very good watch thanks to some great acting. The regulars are in rare form and once again our Marshal sniffs out the crime before it's committed. Only regret here is that Matt didn't get to tangle with the strong man who was billed as " The strongest man on Earth"

Warning: Spoilers
You've seen a million times before. Modern family caught in the rat race finds happiness in the wilderness. This was better than most mainly because of the fine acting. Only complaint is the ending was a complete rip off of City Slickers. Still a good watch
