Rizzoli & Isles: Burning Down the House (2011)
Mostly good episode/season
A decent story until the ending...the seasoned mob guy has tons of intel yet forgot to take cover when in a shoot-out. OK, sure. Gabe promises not to be an agent until told to do so yet shows up anyway. A couple people are wounded yet I thought Rizzoli tended to the wrong 1.
Overall, this season was far superior to the 1st. 5 above average eps & 3 below. The writers still have trouble smoothly interweaving separate story threads but it's less clanky than season 1. The Rizzoli family "moments" are less forced too.
Blindspot: Hot Burning Flames (2018)
Stupid plot
So there's a missing nuke(!) hidden at an airport but let's only send 4 agents?! Then Weller (who cannot act) drifts away & miraculously gets on a plane that has the bomb. Sure. No one hears the plane revving up & moving. How Weller saved the day was impossible (unless you're watching a bad 007 movie).
The whole Jane-Weller on-again, off-again dynamic is beyond old.
The writing has really deteriorated this year.
Rizzoli & Isles: When the Gun Goes Bang, Bang, Bang (2010)
a hot, predictable mess
Predictable story & bad guy. The episode had potential but was wasted on idiotic plot points (needed to advance story) & a ridiculous ending. Why didn't killers take the evidence when they killed they guy? If they didn't know it existed, how did they find out about it? What happened with the snipers? How does Rizzoli pull off that maneuver? Why have the entire precinct work off-site? I would've added an extra star had Rizzoli slapped some sense into Isles' when she was whining about not having sufficient resources.
I counted only 4 good episodes this season (despite what the IMDB ratings say). We'll hope the writing picks up since the show had a lengthy run. The subplot with the parents is always forced and so becomes annoying. & now there's a new family member?! Either write better parts for them or ditch them altogether.
