Cosmic Disclosure (2015)
ENTERTAINING BUT UNBELIEVABLE
My assessment of this show is based on logic.
First point: Multiple groups are involved. Cabel, many different extraterrestrials, many countries and many industries over many, many years.
Second point: When did anyone see everyone...totally everyone..in such a multitude of mixed groups agree completely on anything! To imply that ALL of them agreed for Mr. Smith (???) to go out in public and say HALF of what he said is not imaginable.
Third point: Many of the things said by Mr. Smith are bound to infuriate at least ONE of those multitudes and that ONE would be out for his hide, rather than allowing it to continue beyond one night.
UNLESS: The all did agree on one thing. To have him be so outrageous with his Tale that no one would believe it all and if one thing is in doubt, then the rest must be too.
So My conclusion is that he is on a mission to do just that. I would hate to have to sift through all that mess and pick out even one truth. And that was their purpose. He is the Joker!!
El Cuerpo del Deseo (2005)
TLEMUNDO AT ITS BEST
Everything worked marvelously. Writing, originality casting, characters, acting, directing, ...all could not be better. The two stars made magic on screen. Enough comic relief to match the heavy drama and passion. All the actors "let it all hang out" They dug deep and became real. Evil, good, placid, defensive, irritating, passionate, wise, unwise...not a single emotion was left unattended. I am so spoiled. Searched for another series to watch and had to shut it down it was so dull and rigid and dead. Just actors saying lines. I know I will look for a long tome to find one as good overall as this one.
To discover that Lorena Rojas died at such an early age was upsetting. She was a powerhouse and the best match for that amazing Mario Cimarro. I wonder why there are so few series and movies with him as star. He is box office.
El Fantasma de Elena: El Fantasma de Elena (2010)
Telemundo at it's Worst.
Unless you want to practice your Spanish language skills, skip this one. So many errors...so much bad editing...that it becomes a joke. Meant to be a spooky show about things that go bump in the night....supposedly made about folks in Miami; the directors, producers and editors know nothing about law in the states, much less Florida.
A lady has a horse, looks like an Andalusian, given to her by her father when she was younger. Reared in a stall at a Key West hotel, it seems that as an older horse, he can race at a track with thoroughbreds, who are about 3 -5 years old.
Supposedly this lady has ridden all her life and now she cannot ride worth a darn. A double is used in some scenes, but in others, the star rides in SHORTS, at a hand-gallop, coming out of the saddle by at least 10 inches each stride. She must be in absolute agony, because her inner thighs would have been rubbed raw.
A ghost comes...There are twins who no one can tell apart, but Glory be!! One twin has a mole on left jaw and the other does not. Do tell!
Supposedly a Sergeant of guard in a woman's prison can automatically increase an inmates sentence from a couple of years to 15 without an investigation of what happened.
You get the point?
Pasión de gavilanes (2003)
1000 times better than the latest remake: Tierra de Reyes
I am well into Pasion de Gavilanes, when I turn on HULU and they substitute the newer remake. I watch an episode. Awful, compared to the original. The original has a much better story line, better actors, better photo color, better characters....and I can tell the characters apart. The newer one...all the men look alike. The women are not vibrant and do not fit their parts. Grandpa is a dud.
Now I see that there was another remake, Gavilanes, and perhaps I'll give that a look-see. But it will be AFTER I finish with the original and best. Even the comic relief is great. Grandpa is a great character and plays his part to the hilt, as does The Gay Lover, Leandro.
Kara Para Ask (2014)
20 Episodes too long
I love Turkish dramas and I watch every one that comes to Netflix. This one was very very good until the second half. Then, in order to make it last longer, they began to repeat certain plot structures...over and over until I knew what would happen before it happened. The last 20 episodes did this to the extreme and then in the last three they tried to cram in what should have been done in the previous 20. I am up to the final three and I can see that the characters will not be true to themselves. Elif is all gung-ho for cop work until her case is solved and she discovers that her whole family is knee deep in dirt. Then suddenly she finds being a cop somehow awful and tells her man it is her way or the highway. Not at all believable.. Her expressions are either hard and cold, or broken and crying or mooning over her guy. Prisons scenes soooo predictable.
Little sister Nulifer was like a guppie, constantly gasping when she should be crying. Acting with her mouth.
Best acting was done by Metin/Fatih and the crazy sister, Asli. They made the show. Big bother was boring with his three expressions....benevolence, mania and boo-hooing.
The show would have been better at 64 episodes.
When different writers write different episodes, they lose the sense of character. They make it go off-course. This happened here. The cop as portrayed at the end was not the cop in the final episodes, but the change was not gradual enough to be believable..
Ezel, Kacak, Kurt ve Sura...and many others...Oh Yeah.
El Señor de los Cielos (2013)
Season 6 is boring already. after 4 episodes.
Until season 6 came I would have given this series 10 stars. But 6 begins with ho-hum...amnesia??? (done to death)...more sex.(done to death)..trip to Turkey??? Too much action and not enough brains in the writing department. It seems to be more about the actor/director and his child/woman than about El Senor. By this time we are all tired of hearing that Mother yell and scream over and over the same things. Her hysterics are also ho--hum by now. One great scene is the Presidente, Omar Teran, giving hell to the US Visitor, Navarro. Wow, that was great writing and great acting. El Senor is too busy having sex and flexing his muscles to be interesting.
Yanik koza (2005)
too much repetition (may contain spoilers)
This review might contain spoilers. I found that it had too many long, slow flashbacks with boring music. Many of these could have been eliminated. Also I got bored at times. The lead actress, Hanzade, seems to be on drugs most of the time...she is so blank and emotionless. a puppet led by whoever manipulated her last. The mother's voice was painful and grating. All in all, I thought the story dragged on far too long. But I did watch to the conclusion, if that is what it was. I give it a C- or a D+.
Baba Candir (2015)
Good Romantic Comedy(not sure if this is a spoiler or not)
Some great comic scenes from Haluk Bey and Levant Bey. Wish characters had shown more common sense, including the doctors. Baba, the Phyllo seller, was maybe the worst at that. Frustrating at times, especially the final episode. Makes one wonder how they manage their lives. Great for practicing my Turkish studies. Waiting for season two to come to Netflix.
