Udaariyaan (2021)
One in a million out there. Well done serial.
First, I was a skeptical viewer. I didn't think there was anything out of the ordinary in this serial. It had all the tropes Indian movies and serials had - the love triangle, the cliched love scenes of young romantics and the cliched outlook of very traditional parents especially when it comes to getting their kids married...
I picked it up again somewhere before Fateh and Jasmine was about to get hitched and quite frankly, I was surprised by the talent I saw. Character wise, all 3 main actors have shown impeccable acting skills - Fateh is on point with his emotional expressions and that isn't very easy to do for any young actors of little experience and exposure. Jasmine's character is very Scarlett O'Hara-ish - rude, spoilt to the core and immature. Isya Malviya nails the character to a t. For a debut actress, I found her very impressive. At times, over the top but mostly very impressive. I have to say Tejo is the least of my favourite so far - I don't Priyanka Chaudary is a bad actress but I think her character profile is in need of a revamp. Being the submissive, naive, do-gooder is such a boring take for a woman who is educated and cultured. I do think sometimes even the strongest, outspoken women are betrayed by their loved ones, but the whole "Mary Sue perfect" profile is just so annoying. I would prefered some gumption and strength at times when things are going tough. Don't be a door mat. Its possible to be cruel in order to be kind.
The side actors also play important roles and do a great job. I love Khushbeer. He's strict and traditional in every sense but he is also kind and reasonable. My least favourite character in the serial would be Amrik. Again, not the actor playing him but the character itself. I wish he was a stronger presence in the show. And I guess that's the problem with most serials in Indian. Focus is only given to the main characters, the side actors are mostly non-existent. Come on, give them a plot to act too. They are mostly 1 dimensional which is a shame. Its wasted talent.
Overall, I'm enjoying the show. The pacing is done perfectly - no unnecessary falling of actors in each other's arms, no mysterious wind/fan blowing in the faces of lovers with some love song playing in the background and definitely no staring for endless moments (I mean, seriously!!). And the dialogue is quite good. I hope the show further improves. Well done Udariyaan team. All the best!

Not worth the watch at all...a complete waste of time
I don't usually watch Tamil movies but I was curious to see Akshara Hassan on screen for the first time. In all honesty, she did OK. Her screen time was so limited and I wished she had a bigger role because the other heroine was extremely annoying to watch. Seriously...why did they even cast her. She was completely unnecessary.
Anyway, from the start, the movie was just painful to watch. Ajit Kumar is one of my favorite actors but this just wasn't doing him any justice. Why was he made to utter such unnecessary garbage dialogues throughout the movie? It was making me sick quite honestly.
And a few things to note: 1. If the characters are of foreign nationality, just let them speak their language. What's with the awful voice-overs??
2. The camera shakes a lot at the start of the movie and this is unbearably irritating.
3. I know a lot of Hollywood action flicks tend to have ridiculous stunts and illogical scenes but somersaulting into a freaking dam with an army ready to shoot the crap out of AK just made me curse the people who made this movie.
