"To now, the memory of tomorrow"
31 October 2022
When someone writes a song, poem or a story about you that's when you know you've met someone really really special. It's a special movie for me cause i found some answers i've been looking for and to all the people who loved the mystery of finding someone who is just meant for you and you alone. Writers knew exactly what they were doing with story with not being predictable and cliche about romance. To simply say movie is about poetry and music, and if that ain't romance itself I don't know what is. Life's questions must be answered with life itself. I wish to revisit this movie in a year or two and see how it's been aged so here's "To now, the memory of tomorrow".

PS : Not many people will read this review but if you do, go find some more movies like this. Here's some of mine favourite ones - Frank, Submarine, Shithouse.

could have been better !
2 September 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ok hear me out ! The plot description is quite misleading - "the brother get kidnapped and come home surprisingly well and protagonist then noticed difference in the behaviour" rather it was a changing point in the plot from seemingly haunting house to evil family and then otherwise. Idea and concept of movie was insane and could have been better if there were fewer distractions/irrelevant to plot like chase scene (one where he get hit by truck) when Jin-Soek came to find answer back to house , hit his head got all his memories back. Bear with me ...it would have been much more interesting if he came to remember just a part of his memory in the house and second half of movie was completely centred around the secret room. I mean some great movies like shining was only completely focused on the haunted resort the entire time for 2hr 24m yet never disappointed. Then the second part of memory reveal could have been taken place in the hospital to reveal like the person who baited him into killing.

some good sci fi !
14 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ending is the most important part of the movie but for a split second you forget it this movie opens up whole new possibility of subconscious, with some excellent concepts brewing this past decade with movies like the discovery, I am mother and upgrade and these are just some underrated movies. Ex Machina being the top of the list i'am assuming there is will be soon something big is under the horizon. I think among thousands of other movie OtherLife kept its subtlety delivered the best really small budget sci fi thriller among very few, but I'am afraid the rewatch might not be as great cause the movie is one dimensional and lack layering. But this is the closest movie i could relate inception. And please don't compare with black mirror or inception because this story had an absolute goal to make a choice with own free will and Ren's brother made his choice proving code worked so that was a simple yet philosophical ending to this mind bender.

I want to an apple !

Now more than ever movies are more personal pieces of their creators, even the adaptations becoming more and more personal. Then there comes the drama where you can do whatever you want until you have power to communicate the scene. Movie have this really intense childbirth scene which I is standout scene of the movie never really shown before. And those long takes make it even more intense. No matter what you say Shia Lebeouf is a damn good actor and Vanessa kirby is already in Oscar prediction which is quite right to say about.

I'am here to change your mind !
7 January 2021
It took me a good watch till the very last praying as i read the reviews just to be decent ending at least do the justice and I came to the very conclusion that its a very personal show for aquired taste in vague storytelling and ambiguous nature of never really reaching the end of story rather revolving in a non linear state of play. I bet there was time when the Christopher Nolan faced some serious critique and subjugation for his work "Doodlebug" and "The Following" but i think that aged very well with time and so will this shows. I know the ending is not what we expected and i would have been much more anticipating have i not been reading your reviews so thank you it lowered my expectations. I know all of us wanted more, the perfect ending and perfect closure but that was what last episode was all about, not wanting more but moving on. But all those 9 ep were one hell of ride , it gave me reason to live , it was doing new stuff and making friends and leaving our past going on new journey and coming to dead end realising ending of good things and remembering good stuff and then preparing to do it all over again. That is life its addicting. I think i will try to find more shows like this which give us happiness even without meaning. And someday i will definitely rewatch this show again. It was a beautiful show, one of the most creative and with amazing characters. For once i really thought i was a part of the show. Cinema is breaking fourth wall and is coming alive more and more and i am always amazed by novelty of shows no matter how weird it gets. And ofcourse Jason segel does pretty weird stuff but i love how unique his work is my favourites being Jeff, who lives at home , The Discovery and The End of the Toure and Forgetting sarah Marshall.

Mark Ruffalo has pulled of so many masterpiece like this such as The begin again, Thank you for sharing and The kids are alright. I thinks he does most effortless acting on screen ever. Period. But this was so Involving Parenting movie that 'Feels Good' to the soul. I mean it has everything from being funny to dramatic to scary and really admitting to reality of separation, heartbreaks, all the sacrifices you make for your loved ones and knowing what makes the life worth suffering for. I give it a ten not just for good story but every character from kids and joe Saldana who perfectly played their part and challenged the protagonist of the story to bring out the best in him. This movie needs to be appreciated more than it deserve to be honest. With just uniquely similar feel to the movie captain Fantastic that explores around Quirky parenting, this movie is general depiction of every parent in midlife crisis. My take from it was to create small things in life that when i look back It puts a smile on my face.

Station Master AT Nine and 3 Quarters
28 November 2020
Its captured the most true sense of awkward conversations. The effort was both ways, as Peter Dinklage was trying to ignore the world similar way some were figuring out breaking ice adjusting to his quiet little world. And everybody win win. This was the reason we saw Peter Dinklage where he is now with 4 emmy and 1 golden globe. In any way is this a 'Feel Good' movie with the calmness of small town and trains and little walk and lots of smoking. One thing to wonder about movies that they are mere thread of spectrum of life cause friendships have no bounds and can be found in the most bizarre circumstances and opsity of outcome just need is clear conscious and zero intentions.

There is no rushed scenes, just a subtle dive into the old archived town that is left for the people with heavy heart. I think such people have nothing more to figure out for themselves, just letting go of all that you earned throughout their life. My take from it - something doing nothing takes a lot of work, cause freeing yourself to eternity of things takes a lot of procrastination.

a FACT is just a POINT OF VIEW !
27 November 2020
Simon Fitzmaurice beyond his disability directed his last movie sadly sitting on a chair which is hard to go unnoticed and you can see little piece of heartfelt seen of pure emotion. This movie is definitely a 'Feel Good' movie. Story take turn and some seen are just not what you want or unnecessary but this story strictly tell us we wont find meaning in everything and sometime things happen randomly and you could either take little joy and little pain to make up memories to remember loved ones by. This movie is kind a like that, as if someone opened a bag of memories and it came bursting out everywhere and you trying to gather up all the pieces even the sad and painful bits. Direction and production work is amazing for an independent artist file which i think deserves a little more appreciation. At the end it was really a sense of calming to hear Evanna Lynch's voice portraying a disturbed teen. My take from it was don't find meaning in every film, sometime they're just stories of people living their life as best as they can. And that is commendable.

On the other side, I thought we could see it all and understand why. love.
11 November 2020
Every review is so awesome interpretation of their version of love and relationship. Ultimately people have soft corner for theses nowhere to go movies and it gives us so much feeling of content that we could relate to these things. These type of movies give meaning to everything that is forgettable in our life, things like cuddling on couch and brushing teeth together and reading quietly together without noticing each other. These things too make life and that is what this movie tell us in a way. I hope people only get inspired watching theses and make more still life movies. But the most important fact that it felt nowhere near boring at any point but only we get attached to the character and want to watch it till the end. Everypart of relationship is not covered in this movie but some one those things are so meaningful and subtle and profound that we should try to embrace this little circle of life.

That one bold stroke !
6 November 2020
This movie is everything you wont desire but its everything you need. It feels really good to watch this unconditional even though the basic storyline is high school teenage drama with love triangles. What make it seamlessly interesting is the way character do their juggling with their own version of romance. It was very funny how they took reference of every old movie and books and quotes possible. Its a perfect coming of age movie if you don't want too much drama which usually occur in rom coms and i tell you it takes a toll on soul. Sometime all you need is a light drama and loveable character. This movie is flawed unlike others which make it interesting and standout in itself. For starters this movie doesn't revolve around pretty girl with heart break and also not inclined on pushing feminine same sex attraction to the screen which otherwise Leah Lewis gave insane nerd out performance stealing all hearts. This movie is about 2 people with different perception of love with common interest. It is about friendship, fatherhood, love and living in a small town with a very homely vibe.

Meghdoot ka sandesh !

This is pure story telling, nominated for one oscar but it was really sad to see that only foreign producers recognise such potential in Indians stories. This nomination could have been Indian rather it was nominated to Canada to Deepa Mehta who painfully presented this epic tail which i guess nobody would dare tell tails of to their kids. To set the drama in 1930s and place all the facts very correctly is skill of another level. The actors doesn't perform at full potential rather the direction does it for them and it is not wrong to say that it have a little vibe of Satyajit Ray and Mani Ratnam vibe. Camera works mostly in dark and zoomed in which is perfect for the big screen, people find it little agitating on small screen. But this movie will live long after time because these movies have a purpose and perfectly capture time. You can either pity the character or watch it like an episode of Malgudi Days or any other Tragedy told by Munshi Premchand. All in all it captures the essence of colonial India and still beautiful India with people on river banks with their believes, some of them cruel, some vague and some with the vision to change for better India. It is story of struggle and tragedy with a hint of puerility and romance.

I don't know this game yet i love it
4 November 2020
Anya Taylor Joy has played a typical prodigy child with curious nature and the very silent acting that is very well presumed to be a sign of high intellect but her back story is not that highlighted but presumed to be a similar kid with family issues that took extreme measures and fate had her meeting the board with no other place to hide. This silent drama is a bit unique in way that every emotion which lead to unexpected turn is not spoon fed to the audience rather you have to find it in your own way. Apart form the big reveal you have to make your assumptions and many of the small things can be missed. You might to relate the show, i mean if you'r looking for typical American drama, sex and betrayal than its not for you but if you love to watch an underdog drama slowly rising to be number one then it might be the unique shows that needed to be watched. But to be honest it might be one time show or at best for second watch but i can certainly say it might inspire you to play chess or at least learn how to watch chess. You might share the same passion as very few of people seen in love with the chess. This show is important because it may inspire people to make similar shows about such small story and such games that are considered insignificant.

Warning: Spoilers
All the metaphors used in the movie are spot on, you can relate to every moment or teenage life, the breakup, the infatuation and the ugly little bullying but its main motive is different which is spoiler alert not finding true romance but the need to connect with people. The characters are so much flawed even by their appearance and emotional status that you could relate to them on a next level. This might not be the movie you would want to watch on your first date, but it is surely something to watch with really really close friends. Apart from dark nature of comedy it is really really funny which made me realise that we live in the similar world. And there is no fancy stuff to choke on but ugly truth to live by. I was shocked to see the evil side of character when he makes the decision to kill to dog for sake of Jordana to get over her other grief. Guess we all are kind a naive at that stage in life.

I see dead people, and they are cool AF!!
25 October 2020
This is the most underrated movie i've ever seen in animated genre apart from Tim burtons Frankenweenie which was a halloween masterpiece. But this movie did over the top clay animation that added real ghostly texture to the story. The most to take away from the story that you don't always need a villain in the story to create motto for heroism rather need for heroism arise from simple act of kindness. Kindness is so much underrated in this world that it always goes unnoticed. Heck you could be a ghost and still have all the emotions as a living person, that is what enthrals me the most how creators make dead people compassionate. Unlike coco which was a movie on a bigger scale representing festive point of view of this concept. ParaNorman is sweet and innocent movie that is perfect scary to enjoy but also keeping you at your edge of your emotions and all in good humour. This movie will age well with time.

When you love someone you don't give up, but that's not the case here. Here it's all about destiny, the signs and the universe and it is up to you to believe it or not. This movies, otherwise an acid trip through a never changing argument of what could be and what should be is a decade long feud that is very good storyline for indie drama writers. Just felt a little that though this was a complete romance but it still felt one sided as dell was trying to test destiny whereas the Kim was hardwired to be superficial love that feels good and comforting but true love is never comforting it is rough and it's got thorns and it is ugly. I realised that you don't change through time but become more of what you really are. So dell never stop loving Kim but his love kept growing and was the death of him. I funny how you commit to an idea and let make yourself believe in things you never believed. I want to be Dell. He is not afraid to go back and not afraid to start a conversation because he got nothing to lose. He is a gambler, of destiny and fate and he has yet to realise how to make best of his ability, which is to talk his way into every relationship but also talk his way out of it. Dell is a perfect imperfect character that revolves around love.

Bill Muray is the sight for the sore eyes !
23 October 2020
It's not Noah Baumbach but it has a similar tone and very unique ring to story and this is the most Sofia Coppola get to recreating that lost in translation vibe. When character starts enjoying their little tour it gets exciting to see father daughter bonding like any other movie. But Bill Murray tops it all, you can only watch this movie for his performance as always effortless and the most enjoyable in every decade of his performance. But watch it when it feels right not for the sake of just watching, Indie drama only works that way otherwise you'll ruin it.

Wait till the End !
19 October 2020
You could watch it thinking just another teenage drama all doomed with tragedy but wait till the end. It's not till the end the true goal is achieved and true characters are revealed. Truth is, this is story with obvious outcome but what makes it different is the characters and how they reach to reality of situation. The scene cut abruptly and goes back and forth from sad to jumpy to anger to romance and back to being sad. Even the mysterious reveal is so subtle that many of us won't notice. But it's all with good intentions that movie is wrapped up by the waves crashing beach which metaphorically symbolises that you live multiple lives of your parents and your friends and you lose all those lives when you die.

You can get the enough of life lesions when it comes to dealing with life. Predictability of the show doesn't overcome its originality. Show is not about football though its all about ted lasso and his team. Ted could have been a marine corp instructor and still would have been able to produce best solders, because its all being true to yourself and others.

Tom hanks makes a soft kill with his character
26 August 2020
The thing that makes it different from all the other gangster movies about violence , vengeance and volition is that it is not about any of those things but centers about making different choice to not become a man of your consequence. Deep silence during violent scenes represents resentment towards the choices every character take. These violent sounds of guns are masterfully overshadowed by pouring rain and sound of sea waves in particular scenes. Its like all is forgiven and actions not judged because there is no right or wrong when you follow the Road to Predition !!
