The Family (2019)
Now I understand...
... why the Christian Right so heartily supports Trump. They don't care that he is amoral and self-centered, he is the Wolf King they have been awaiting! This is an excellent and timely documentary, very informative and more than a little scary. The Family, and their belief and, indeed, their insistence, that God cares more for the elite and powerful are doing their best to subvert our democracy and establish a conservative Jesus-based theocracy, not only here in the US, but in all nations.
Peppermint (2018)
Absurd, ridiculous plot!
This is one of the most poorly written revenge movies. It has truly ridiculous plotting and some of the most hackneyed dialogue. Poor John Ortiz is forced to deliver some of the worst lines ever foisted upon a good actor. Don't waste your time with this tripe.
Where Are My Children? (1916)
Makes a strong case for legal abortion
Quite interesting film given its time and subject matter: birth control and abortion in pre-WW I America. There's even some mention of Eugenics, which was quite a popular theory of that time. I will avoid any spoilers but the movie is pro-birth control and very heavy-handily anti-abortion. But, inadvertently, the moral case is made for safe and legal abortions!
