I seriously thought this was one of the, if not THE, most beautifully written shows I've ever watched, and cried after every episode -- until about Season 7. After that, it's become more and more disappointing, and a very different show at times. Over the top Sister Monica Joan monologues, and constant, extremely gratuitous storylines designed to be in line with modern PC have now made this show seem so forced and fake. I used to relish getting lost in the episode, in the time period, but now, it seems that they're so interested in teaching us a lesson and making it so PC, that the stories get lost. Instead of marveling at the beauty of it anymore, I'm fast forwarding through a lot of it. Halfway through S8, and I'm not sure I'm interested in going any further.

I think he's supposed to be a sympathetic character. I don't think that he is, at all. Nonetheless, you sure can tell he's the one making the series. I found first season interesting, but I'm halfway thru second season and it's getting really redundant. I watched this after watching Girl from Oslo. It's fun to travel the world via TV shows. Albeit fictional and biased, I feel I understand the conflict a little better and have subsequently read more about it. I've always felt, and this series confirms it, that both sides of this conflict are equally at fault, and finger-pointers. Sad. Religion is evil.

Good God, some of the worst writing I've ever had the misfortune to endure. Love the show, love the stars, but I'm done. What a waste of a bunch of talented actors. It was as tho they let a junior high class of no talents write this. Trying to be so super edgy. Not funny or interesting at all. I'm embarrassed for the actors that had to read those ridiculous lines.

Had the last season not been so completely awful, I would have rated this series an 8 or 9, but it's as though they brought in different, really bad writers for the final season. If you can stand the disappointment of the horrible last season, watch it, but I'm warning you now - it ruined the whole series for me.
