A terrible mess
3 December 2019
An attempt to imitate Indiana Jones unfortunately failed. Also in this case (as in Jiu ceng yao ta), the cues are many but instead of enriching the plot they end up complicating the development. On the other hand in some moments the thread of the narration is lost, everything becomes possible but without any connection or logic, the flashbacks sometimes seem put a little at random, more for narrative needs than for concrete reasons of development. It's a pity because it is a product that for the West really introduces so many new narrative inventions and possible paths never crossed but it all translates into a terrible mess.

A six of encouragement
1 December 2019
Many interesting ideas but the many elements used end up making the script more chaotic than anything else. Beautiful photography even if the special effects interfere heavily. A six of encouragement.

A delusion
1 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Happy intuition for a variant on the theme of the anti-hero in a horror key with some striking findings. Too bad then that the script is lost on the final. The protagonist sows deaths everywhere but tries to maintain anonymity (what is the use of being invincible?). Yet his stated goal is to dominate the world: should he do it secretly? The spaceship is referred to as a sort of cryptonite (in the presence of which the boy does not feel ill but he can cut himself (boh?). The ship arrives intact on earth without any damage, then a quiet earth lady tears off a piece as if it were a sheet metal. Honestly we do not understand all these tricks except in function of a sequel. But it would have been enough in this film to make it invincible, something could always have been invented in a hypothetical sequel. A terrible story of those who have a happy intuition that however cannot develop or complete. Finally, the character of the boy: I imagine that the intentions were to describe him as an immature personality who cannot manage his own power and eventually turns to evil rather than good. But here the boy looks like a schizophrenic with a double personality. A delusion.

Masterpiece
30 November 2019
Superlative film, brilliant, masterpiece of the genre. Unfortunately it remains beyond the watershed created by the advent of computer graphics but it is a small jewel of creativity and direction. We hope that Avatar's results are worth waiting for, James Cameron is missing us too.

Witty and subtle
29 November 2019
Witty and subtle thriller. The twist is easy to understand and realism is not the best. But the message about the greed of those who have more remains unchanged, but it is never satiated and above all on value and life. Thick cast, with an immense Michael Caine and always wonderful Demi Moore (as an actress). To be seen

Adventure but not horror
28 November 2019
Spectacular and fascinating. The remake is less agonizing than the 1959 film (I saw it as a child, I think I didn't sleep for days). It is a well packaged product for lovers of the genre.

Interesting movie
28 November 2019
Minor production but film far from foolish. The bad guys are bad and the good ones give in to violence betrayed by the system. So far nothing new under the sun but the protagonists are no longer us, they are the others who are basically like us. Very good actors. Film that does not betray expectations

Ruthless and delicate
28 November 2019
A delicate and precious film, ruthless towards good feelings but hopeful towards racism that comes from ignorance and not from the heart, when in the end human solidarity is still able to redeem men and their sins. It is a film that perhaps we Europeans cannot fully understand (even if racism begins again to meander dangerously between our feet) but I like to think that the choice of an Italian American of the populace as a counterpart to the cultured afro doctor American is not random. After all, among the many ugly figures that the driver does, in the end he is saved because he truly begins to believe in his neighbor, because in the end he makes himself loved, because he begins to understand and participate in the harshness of the battle, because he contrasts and shares a fundamental value, that of the family, which we once had but which we are losing today. Because it is true that in life you have to be what you are (otherwise you generate monsters) but what sense does it have if to crown a successful life, on Christmas Eve we find ourselves alone or worse on the point of death there was no one to greet us with the serenity of an affectionate embrace? Another element common to films that involve some form of catharsis is that of travel, an ancient metaphor for the path of the soul. I sincerely would have given the Oscar to Viggo Mortensen, more and more an actor of thick cast in roles that makes him look easy but that are not easy. And as the protagonist says, it's really a pleasure to see the landscapes that are the backdrop for this trip.

Author's yellow
26 November 2019
Very thick yellow film with a stellar cast. The interesting thing about this film is that the murderer's discovery slips away almost unnoticed while the whole film is actually a vivid fresco of the English noble society of the time. This is possible also because the crime takes place practically at the end when the characters have been outlined and the atmosphere has been created thanks to their passions, dramas vicissitudes. Do not miss the final twist but, I repeat, the picture is precious and not the individual details. It is always a pleasure to see talents led by a master.

A missed opportunity
26 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
A stellar cast and lots of interesting ideas in a failed work. The setting is interesting and even some situations are very successful. But the film does not develop anything, neither the plot (inconsistent) nor the characters (not very credible). Jodie Foster has the art but the part is missing; Jeff Goldblum is an old wolf of the trade but in the film, where he plays the most evil, he wouldn't be afraid even of a little lamb; Zachary Quinto is absolutely wasted on a fundamentally new role. The only one who does his duty is Dave Bautista. As in all the films in which he takes part, he never falls into too complicated or profound roles and his honest figure always does it. Some have compared the idea of the hotel for criminals to that of Johnny Weak but there is nothing more different. There is a hotel where to find and do business and a free zone (in theory), here it is a hospital for VIP criminals. The question then is, if a large-caliber criminal were to create such a structure, why should he share it with others? For management costs (private health worse than public health)? And then, while one of the hotel guests tries to get carried away by a helicopter (unsuccessfully), why doesn't the boss do the same thing to reach the hotel at the end of his life and prefer to drive an hour? Script and direction would have deserved someone more armored but there is only one of Carpenter.

Overrated
21 November 2019
I expected something more given the many positive comments he received. The actors are extraordinary even though the thickness of BC far exceeds that of LG. Which on the other hand, in the scenes on stage, is really in its element. Wonderful the songs, especially the ones that in the film sings BC (the pure melodic accompanied by the piano I find it a bit "whining" even if the text is remarkable, I need the guitar and the drums !!) and I was really impressed by the fact that the songs, in addition to being written and performed by the protagonists (but LG could expect nothing less, his talent is unquestionable and names like Mark Ronson appear among others), were recorded live. What I strongly lack in this film is the script. It is true that it is a remake but with today's eyes, it knows everything already seen, predictably, sincerely missing pathos. Even the final drama seems almost false and not the natural evolution of the path of a well-defined character: do events precipitate but do they serve the characters or the film? Sin.

Very beautiful
21 November 2019
It's difficult to find a wrong detail in this picture, where the search of the right time is only an excuse to approach human fears. Like recent father, i condivide the end where most important thing is the family. But it's impossible to say "no" to Margot Robbie...

Goffo as the protagonist
21 November 2019
There are so many deaths, produced with curious methods. Obviously the combat sequences are beautiful. But the film complicates life with too many rules, the protagonist has no real goal nor a real enemy and when everyone is excommunicated, nobody thinks of killing the adjudicator. Do we reserve it for the fourth chapter? Obvious. Are we eager to see it? I do not think so...

Sadness

Sad atmosphere, stereotypical setting, the character of Jim Carrey seems out of place. Only Marton Csokas and the b side of the Gainsbourg are saved

Furious!!!

Naked and raw like war. Sharp and merciless like life: in war you are here, perhaps in a breath. Noise, so much noise, no justice. The soul of each one yields sooner or later but the opportunity of redemption comes for everyone (I like to believe that it is true), in the end also for the Germans

Unwatchable
21 November 2019
I saw it when it came out and I didn't remember why it could be judged so bad. About a quarter of an hour from the end it becomes really unwatchable, a science fiction film, all very bad quality special effects. If you really want, look at the initial scenes full of curves, chrome and bluster, then do other things, don't spoil the evening.

A good western
21 November 2019
A beautiful fairy tale, everything runs smoothly towards a happy ending (surrounded by deaths and violence) of reconciliation but the film has the flavor of an unfinished. The protagonists (Captain Blocker and Yallow Hawk) move within marvelous scenarios where rhythms and beats are never out of place and always effective. But soon after leaving the fort, we ask ourselves: what happened to the fierce slavers who should be? Or does war improve people?

Very interesting
21 November 2019
Production clearly of level, it is a witty and extremely enjoyable film. However, while the part of science fiction holds (despite some inconsistencies) and is interesting above all because it promotes a series of extremely current problems, the part of horror is a bit inconclusive, without a logic and too much for the use and consumption of history, as if the physics abhorred intruders of another dimension and enjoyed massacring them, leaving clues to find an escape route. However, it remains to be seen.

Visionary
21 November 2019
Solid characters, actors of absolute thickness, remarkable direction. The subject addressed is tremendously current; unfortunately today the dictatorships in our society have stopped assuming the appearance of a villain to take those of untouchable holdings, multinationals and banks against which it is much more difficult to fight because they are not a physical enemy and sometimes are not even perceived as such. To see and review.

Terminator
21 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The history of Terminator revisited, with the good guys who send a killer in the past to avert a tragic future. Some narrative tricks are interesting, some successful twists are there. The mystery remains of why adopting a system so complicated to eliminate a person (if not to create a clue for the spectator) but overall a good movie for fans of the genre.

A Ducati is always a Ducati
21 November 2019
An interesting film where the various characters are carefully sketched and are very credible. The story is solid and some motorcycle scenes are breathtaking. It's just a shame that it's not an American product: if it had a higher budget, stronger lights and colors, bigger landscapes and more extreme backgrounds, it could have really been a good movie. To be seen.

Too money
21 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It could be a good film because despite being violent it never takes brutality for granted and basically tries to send a message about the value of life. The cast is very solid, the direction decided, the photography is excellent. I am a bit worried about the script: the finicky of the group is the one that in the end makes the hit fail (real professionals would have kept to the plan) and it would have been enough to load the helicopter with its maximum capacity (better to be a little less rich that dead). But then there might not have been a plot to tell. Nice action movie, too bad these slips.

Distressing
21 November 2019
A successful film with a remarkable cast. Well defined characters and solid history. However everyone has something obscure in their past that is never revealed but remains in the air as to create a support for tension. And this is perhaps the highest moment in the film, where basically the stories do not count but the atmosphere of anguish that brings hope long unfulfilled, the intuition without knowing, the loneliness of pain.

Love and war, value and betrayal
21 November 2019
It is classified as a spy story but beyond the fact that it does not have the mechanisms, it is certainly more interesting from an introspective point of view. Many are the food for thought: the typical idealism of youth, the distance between science and politics, the theater of appearances and the snooty stupid stupidity of the rich offspring of high society. Is it betrayal to exchange secrets with the hope of peace? Maybe not, maybe Melita Norwood was right. One thing I'll never understand: how is it possible, coming from a country based on rights and freedom, to side with a totalitarian and dictatorial regime? Utopian societies do nothing to hide their inherent failure, yet retain their fascination for those who are unable to grasp their human and real limits.
